Chapter 139: My Beloved Is Omnipotent!
Ling Ziheng and Pei Xi returned to the hospital room, but before stepping inside, they heard loud shouting and commotion from within.
“Ahahaha, I won again! Xiao Linzi, you’re no match!” Nan Yu was cheering boisterously.
“Damn it...”
“ViVi, let’s not argue with them. It’s obvious those two are in cahoots!”
...
When Ling Ziheng entered the room, he found that Liang Qisheng had somehow also joined their visiting party. The four of them were playing Dou Di Zhu cards.
At this moment, Nan Yu was clearly confident of victory, twisting his waist with a proud grin.
Seeing Ling Ziheng return, Lin Zhiwei’s eyes sparkled with tiny stars as she quickly called for help. “Darling, save me! Nan Yu and Young Master Liang are bullying me!”
Ling Ziheng raised an eyebrow, rolled up his sleeves to replace Yin Mi’er, and with a cold gaze, uttered four words: “Shuffle again.”
Startled, Liang Qisheng threw down his cards. “I’m done. What’s the point of playing with these top students...”
“Second Master Liang, why be afraid of them? I am the legend of Dou Di Zhu! No one has ever beaten me!” Nan Yu patted his shoulder, exuding supreme confidence.
Liang Qisheng hesitated before asking, “Are you sure you want to look for trouble?”
“Hey, why are you so cowardly?”
“Then bring it on!”
Yin Mi’er shuffled the cards, quietly cheering on the duo of Lin Zhiwei and Ling Ziheng, “Go for it!”
Lin Zhiwei winked at her, calm and composed. With her beloved by her side, they were sure to crush the opponents.
Sure enough, after five rounds...
“I don’t believe it! Show me your cards! It’s impossible! I have extraordinary calculation skills. You’re cheating!” Nan Yu was so furious his beard bristled as he demanded to see their hands.
Ling Ziheng and Lin Zhiwei exchanged a knowing smile and revealed their cards. Nan Yu scrutinized them carefully, finding nothing wrong. How could his calculations be off?
Liang Qisheng sighed lightly and patted the still unyielding Nan Yu on the shoulder. “I warned you. The man opposite you is a genius. This child’s play of Dou Di Zhu... you simply can’t survive against him.”
Nan Yu could only nod in resignation. He hadn’t expected Ling Ziheng to be so deeply concealed a talent. Liang Qisheng exchanged a glance with him, both sighing in unison.
“Ah woo, my darling is amazing!” Lin Zhiwei leaned against the man beside her, pride shining on her face.
“No big deal,” Ling Ziheng said, seeing how happy his little girl was, so showing a bit of skill was harmless.
Lin Zhiwei stroked her chin thoughtfully, then turned to Liang Qisheng. “Young Master Liang, what other top talents of my darling haven’t you told me about?”
“Why don’t you ask him yourself? He’s right beside you. Why ask me?” Liang Qisheng looked uncomfortable, as if salt had been rubbed into his wounds.
“It feels more prideful coming from your mouth,” Lin Zhiwei said slyly, blinking her big eyes.
“Damn,” Liang Qisheng muttered rare curses.
“I’m curious too. Boss, what other skills do you have?” Yin Mi’er put her cards aside and leaned in, intrigued.
“Hmph, I want to hear it too,” Nan Yu grumbled.
“Uh...” Surrounded, Liang Qisheng could only cross his arms and glance helplessly at the three, then speak reluctantly, “To put it simply, your darling, your boss, your brother-in-law — he’s almost omnipotent. I’m too lazy to list it all...”
Instantly, their gazes locked on the handsome man rolling up his sleeves nearby.
Lin Zhiwei stared at her companion’s attractive face and calm demeanor, secretly fuming. She resolved to test him properly sometime soon. Though she already guessed her darling was no ordinary man, how extraordinary he truly was still needed verification.
Ling Ziheng’s heart was full of his little girl. Seeing her black hair fall softly past her ears and her lively, charming face alight with mischievous cleverness, his eyes sparkled with love as always.
Although she looked slightly pale from illness, it did not diminish her radiant spirit in the slightest. He could never tire of looking at her and bent down to press a kiss on her lips.
“Hey, hey, hey, can you cut us single dogs some slack?” Nan Yu protested, tapping the small table.
Liang Qisheng and Yin Mi’er, however, chatted on as if nothing unusual was happening.
Lin Zhiwei’s cheeks flushed as she nudged Ling Ziheng. “Everyone’s right here...”
“Too adorable, I couldn’t resist...”
...
Nan Yu was utterly overwhelmed by the heavy display of affection right before him.
After lunch, the three each went their separate ways.
Lin Zhiwei flipped through a book, happily fed grapes by the man beside her, enjoying the leisurely moment.
Suddenly she closed the book, eyes shining as she asked, “When shall we go on a date?”
“You decide,” Ling Ziheng raised an eyebrow. His little girl had taken the initiative to propose a date, so he was more than willing to cooperate, though he clearly had set the stage himself.
“All right, once my hand heals,” Lin Zhiwei nodded with satisfaction. When her hand was better, she planned to use the date as an excuse to test all his skills. She refused to believe she couldn’t outmatch him.
Ling Ziheng seemed to read her thoughts and wrapped his arm around her waist, letting her lean comfortably against him. “Fine. When your hand heals, you can test me however you want.”
“Damn you, how do you always guess everything?” Lin Zhiwei was frustrated at being figured out and bumped into him playfully.
The man beside her merely smiled faintly, amused by her antics. “I already told Pei Xi to get a medical certificate from Dr. Qin just now. It might come in handy later.”
Lin Zhiwei’s mouth fell open in surprise. She had a hundred unspeakable thoughts racing through her mind. This man was truly incredible. Was her darling possessed by Lin Qiongjiu’s spirit? How else could he guess everything?
“He’s obviously a big shot. When we first met, he pretended to need help like some needy person. A true master of acting,” Lin Zhiwei glared at him, feeling deeply frustrated. After their deal on the rooftop, she had smugly thought a handsome man had finally recognized her inner strength.
Now, looking back, she felt she had been utterly naive. The man before her was the very epitome of a cunning overlord.
“I do need your help,” Ling Ziheng said, flipping through the book titled The Newborn, a faint smile playing on his lips. Sooner or later, the little girl would see through him.
“When you came to find me on the rooftop, that was just a show for your distant enemy, right?” Lin Zhiwei turned her face, eyes narrowed with calm confidence.
“My wife is perceptive.”
“Hah, I knew it. Fine, that means I have some use.”
Ling Ziheng heard the slight disappointment in her voice, closed the book, and stared intently at her slightly pouty face. “Zhiwei, it’s not ‘some use’ — it’s essential.”
Lin Zhiwei looked at the book in his hands, then into his shimmering eyes and perfectly proportioned face, feeling completely comforted. She lifted her head and pressed a kiss on his profile with satisfaction.
