Hiding off to the side, Mei Ning and Xiao Yu whispered gossip to each other, unable to contain their curiosity.

“Do you think the boss has had feelings for Lin all along? Is that why she recruited her as our director?” Mei Ning stroked her chin, deep in thought.

“I’m sure of it. The tenderness in the boss’s eyes was so overwhelming, I could practically melt,” Xiao Yu clenched her small fists, excitement coursing through her. The scene of the two leaning in and conversing—wasn’t it precisely that of a proud, domineering suitor and a gentle beloved, openly displaying their affection?

Mei Ning glanced at Zhao Lei, who calmly scrolled through his phone nearby, and pouted in annoyance. “Lei, did you know about this all along?”

Zhao Lei nodded, still engrossed in his work.

“Wow, Lei, you’re so unfair! When did you find out? You never let on at all.” Mei Ning gave Zhao Lei a shove, full of grievance. Stone-faced Lei, always quietly observing from the sidelines, never sharing any juicy details.

None of the three noticed Yin Mi’er standing nearby, her face ashen as if struck by lightning. She never imagined that the person who had stirred her heart was also the object of the boss’s interest. But was Lin Zhi interested in men or women?

In the distance, the two men were deep in intimate conversation, the scene so harmonious and pleasing it seemed there was no space left for anyone else. Gender was irrelevant; between those two, could anyone ever wedge in, even by a hair’s breadth?

Just moments ago, Ling Ruoyu’s gaze lingered on Lin Zhi at every opportunity, the intense focus almost dazzling, as if it existed solely for one person.

Xiao Yu noticed the change in Yin Mi’er’s expression and suddenly realized that, of everyone present, only Yin Mi’er had no inkling of Lin Zhi Wei’s true identity. She must be struggling internally now—after all, the plot twist where a movie king falls for his male director was explosive.

But, remembering Lin Director’s instructions, she bit her tongue and refrained from revealing the truth about Lin’s real identity.

“They’re coming out,” Mei Ning reminded them in a hurry. So soon? Ling was being far too cautious; his courting methods were anything but assertive.

Lin Zhi Wei opened the door and saw the four waiting outside, coughing lightly in embarrassment. Her pride had been thoroughly shattered by Ling Zi Heng, whom she glanced at with annoyance—he seemed utterly unbothered.

She then turned and saw Yin Mi’er avoiding her gaze, which only deepened her frustration. She had finally won the girl’s favor, and now it seemed she wouldn’t even dare to look at her.

“Ruoyu!” A sharp female voice called out from afar, breaking the awkward silence.

Ye Lin Yun strode toward them, flanked on both sides by her assistants, heels clicking confidently. She was as dazzling as ever, radiating star power from head to toe, even during rehearsals.

“Ugh… To bump into Medusa here—what rotten luck,” Xiao Yu muttered under her breath.

Ling Zi Heng frowned slightly and, with long strides, prepared to leave.

“Ruoyu!” Ye Lin Yun, wearing a noble and elegant smile, swayed her willow-like waist, intent on stopping the aloof man before her. She hurried forward, her eyes like autumn water. “Since we’ve met, why not share a meal?”

Xiao Yu and Mei Ning exchanged a glance and secretly mimed a gagging gesture. How could someone be so oblivious? The boss had rejected her countless times and now barely acknowledged her existence, yet she persisted.

“Ah Zhi, what’s next on the schedule?” Ling Zi Heng turned to Lin Zhi Wei, completely ignoring the enthusiastic invitation.

“Studio fitting,” Lin Zhi Wei quickly replied, scrolling through her phone, sensing Ling Zi Heng’s growing impatience.

Ye Lin Yun’s face darkened, unable to maintain her composure. To be so blatantly ignored in front of so many people—her crimson lips trembled as if about to bleed, her gaze darting between the pair, her sharp nails digging into her palms.

Lin Zhi Wei, seeing Ye Lin Yun about to explode, hastily soothed her. “Sorry, Film Queen Ye, Ruoyu’s stylist has already called several times. We really must return now, or else we’ll end up in the headlines again.”

Ye Lin Yun’s expression softened somewhat. Hmph, at least this Director Lin knows her place.

Ling Zi Heng brushed past her, his face cold and impassive as he strode out. Ye Lin Yun caught only his taut profile, yet her heart rippled with longing.

Even with a frosty expression, the man was as dazzling as a deity from an old European castle painting. His beauty was irresistible, even in anger. Such a man must become her conquest.

There would be plenty of opportunities ahead. Ling Ruoyu, time is on my side—you won’t escape. Ye Lin Yun’s eyes flashed with confidence.

After Ling Zi Heng left, Ye Lin Yun’s gaze shifted to Yin Mi’er and she curled her lips. “Hah, I never thought you’d throw your lot in with Ruoyu. I wonder how you managed to catch his eye, you little enchantress. I underestimated you, not realizing you had such powerful backing,” she said, glancing at Lin Zhi Wei as well.

Although Yin Mi’er still feared her, she could now meet her gaze. Freed from Ye Lin Yun’s clutches, she no longer needed to be afraid.

Ye Lin Yun glared viciously at Lin Zhi Wei, swaying her hips as she approached, scrutinizing the plain-faced man before her with undisguised malice in her eyes. “Director Lin, what a pleasure. I spent half the day searching for any news, only to find you’re the one who pities and protects the weak.”

So this Director Lin really was influential. Chu Chuo had reported he’d saved Yin Mi’er, and Ye Lin Yun thought it was time to remind the director who rules the entertainment world. If they wanted to oppose her, they should measure their own worth.

“Film Queen Ye, you flatter me. It was nothing more than lending a hand,” Lin Zhi Wei stood tall, unfazed, responding with a faint smile.

“Hmph,” Ye Lin Yun scoffed, “Very well. Let’s see how long your arrogance lasts.” With that, she strutted off with her assistants, her aura fierce and imposing.

“Lin, are we in trouble?” Xiao Yu asked nervously after Ye Lin Yun stormed away.

Lin Zhi Wei snorted and shrugged. “Does Medusa look like she’s got brains?”

“Haha, exactly. Lin, you’re right—Medusa only knows how to charge ahead blindly,” Mei Ning chimed in.

“Let’s go, the driver’s waiting outside,” Lin Zhi Wei called, noticing Yin Mi’er’s dim expression. She thought it was time to be honest with her—after today’s events and another confrontation with Ye Lin Yun, she’d taken blow after blow and must be feeling lost.

After these past few days, they had all opened up to each other. Though the future was unpredictable, as long as everyone stood together, there was nothing to hide.

Lin Zhi Wei flashed Yin Mi’er a mischievous smile. Yin Mi’er’s eyes flickered as she nodded lightly, finally finding peace in her heart.
