Chapter Twenty-Nine: Reunion of Kin

As a mutated spiritual plant that had awakened its intelligence and was the king among the two-faced five-petaled Shadow Sunflowers, it had been forcibly given a name so common it bordered on vulgarity. The Demon Flower King accepted it without protest.
Before it even recovered from the shock of its new name, Su Li spoke again, “Ah Hua has acknowledged its master. Shouldn’t it show some sincerity with a welcoming gift?”
The Demon Flower King felt extremely aggrieved.
It knew full well that this ferocious beast still coveted the Shadow Sunflower fruit.
With a single command, all the two-faced five-petaled Shadow Sunflowers lined up in orderly fashion, presenting their fruits on an empty patch of ground, and in no time, a small mountain of fruit had formed.
Su Li curled her lips slightly; even a single Shadow Sunflower fruit was worth a fortune. As expected, fighting and recruiting followers was indeed the fastest way to prosperity.
In the blink of an eye, Shen Luo had already stored all the fruit in his spirit ring. Su Li leapt back onto the youth’s shoulder, urging the Tiger Soul to quickly leave this place.
The outside world was clearly far vaster.
But the Demon Flower King was the overlord of this trial realm. With its guidance, the group swept through the area, collecting many fine spiritual herbs and fruits, from first to seventh rank, and even lucked upon three stalks of eighth rank Dragon Pattern Grass.
Dragon Pattern Grass was a primary ingredient in the crafting of the Extinction Pill, a medicine used during tribulation to protect a cultivator’s spiritual palace from harm.
Occasionally, they encountered high-ranking beasts, but these creatures fled in terror before they even got close, intimidated by the Tiger Soul’s fierce aura.
Not until the space had been stripped of anything valuable did they find the formation’s core. Once the Tiger Soul re-entered the Divine Tiger Stone Talisman, they moved on to the next trial realm.
Suddenly, danger pressed in.
Su Li leapt gracefully, sending out a blade of mystical energy with her claws, killing several beasts that had charged forward.
At once, a dense mass of beasts retreated like a tide, encircling them in a ring.
They had fallen right into a den of rats!
Tail-cutting Rats were third-rank beasts, not particularly high in level, and usually lived in underground burrows. When hunting, they swarmed in hundreds, excelling at group attacks.
But they were undeniably ugly!
Bean-sized green eyes, glossy black fur dragging along the ground, prominent yellow buck teeth…
Su Li wrinkled her nose in disgust and hopped back into Shen Luo’s arms, lifting her chin at the flower on the youth’s wrist and saying, “Ah Hua, you handle this.”
Seeing her disdainful yet proud manner, a trace of amusement flickered in Shen Luo’s eyes.
The Demon Flower King dared not complain.
The small red flower edged with gold shot out, rooted itself in the earth, and quickly grew into a giant two-faced five-petaled Shadow Sunflower. Its rich fragrance, tinged with bluish glow, bewitched the Tail-cutting Rats, which were swiftly dragged underground by the flower’s roots.
In the blink of an eye, the area was cleared spotless.

After a hearty meal, the Demon Flower King had to admit that Sister Tuan was actually a decent leader—if only she didn’t work her spiritual plants so hard.
They pressed onward, and suddenly, clouds gathered overhead.
Before long, a fierce wind and heavy rain battered down, and within the time it took to drink a cup of tea, the water had risen to their ankles, with no sign of stopping.
Finding no shelter, the Demon Flower King resigned itself to serving as a floral umbrella, wrapping its leaves tightly together to shield them from the storm.
Su Li gnawed on a spiritual fruit, sweetness filling her mouth, but the gloomy weather soured her mood.
Just as she was growing irritable, she looked up to see the Tiger Soul emerge from the Divine Tiger Stone Talisman.
With its aura restrained, the Tiger Soul had shrunk to the size of a small beast, appearing soft and cute.
Su Li smacked it with a paw.
The Tiger Soul flattened itself on the ground, baffled as to why the big boss was angry. Its eyes darted mischievously, and it suggested, “Sister Tuan, how about some grilled fish?”
The Tiger Soul had always disliked the flower and was well-versed in using others to do its bidding. “This kind of weather is perfect for a steaming hot Redfin Perch.”
The Demon Flower King trembled in fright.
Su Li licked her pink tongue, tempted by the idea.
Sensing hope, the Tiger Soul relayed the plan to Shen Luo.
“Will the spirit fire harm Ah Hua?” Shen Luo asked, concerned.
The Tiger Soul vowed confidently, “Impossible. The two-faced five-petaled Shadow Sunflower is famous for its tough skin.”
The Demon Flower King, unable to speak: …
Smoke curled in the air, and amid the torrential rain, the aroma of grilled fish wafted about.
Nearby, disheveled cultivators perked up and followed the scent.
At the center of the waters, a massive exotic flower stood, its thorny roots rising above the surface, the flower buds shrouded in mist.
Boom—thunder crashed, and the storm made the demon flower seem even more sinister.
On the back of a seventh-rank Thunder Roc, the youngest cultivator swallowed nervously. “Elder Nineteen, should we still go?”
The white-haired cultivator’s gaze was deep, his tone resolute. “Go. We must.”
Life or death, there was no turning back.
And so, he steered the Thunder Roc toward the demon flower.
The Demon Flower King, filled with pent-up resentment, sent its thorns skyward, catching them off guard.

While the battle raged outside, inside the Demon Flower King, the spirit fish coated in high-grade herbal juices was just cooked to crispy perfection.
Suddenly, Su Li’s ears twitched. “Ah Hua, who’s outside?”
The Demon Flower King, deflated, swept the invaders—man and beast alike—inside.
Bang.
They were thrown down hard.
Man and beasts alike were stunned.
The Tiger Soul, scrambling to hide, suspected the flower was taking malicious revenge.
A bit of wind and rain leaked inside.
Shen Luo, regaining his composure, calmly flipped the spirit fish and continued grilling.
The beast on his shoulder had already leapt out, circling the three newcomers. Her gaze darted around, finally settling on the elder. Well, well! Wasn’t this the old man from the Shen family?
Su Li raised her paw and slapped down, straightforward and forceful!
When Shen Fengling was jolted awake, his head was still foggy. Once he truly came to, he was faced with an enormous cat’s face, so startling he nearly fainted again.
Seeing this, a mocking glint flashed in those feline eyes, making the totem on her forehead come alive.
Shen Fengling’s eyes widened. “You’re the beast that belongs to Ah Luo?” Meaning, Shen Luo was here as well? He hurriedly scrambled up from the ground, rising too quickly and tearing his wound, gasping in pain.
At that moment, he heard the youth’s delighted voice, “Elder Nineteen, we finally found you.”
After surviving so many brushes with death, Shen Fengling was deeply moved upon seeing his kin again. He looked up, only to be stunned by the sight of the familiar young man approaching, holding two skewers of grilled spirit fish. His expression twisted.
They had been clinging to life on a knife’s edge, yet the least promising youth in the clan was leisurely grilling spirit fish.
Strangely, he felt a twinge of jealousy.
Noticing his gaze fixed on the grilled fish, Shen Luo thoughtfully handed him the skewer in his right hand.
