Chapter 105: Bai Yan's Finger Pointed at Jiang Chengyan
As soon as Jiang Chengyan left, the group of dogs gathered in the courtyard all scattered quickly, truly like obedient actors slipping away stealthily.
Madam Zhao looked at the empty east wing room and turned to Jiang’s father, asking, “That debt collector just now—was it on purpose?”
Jiang’s father nodded blankly, “I think so.”
Madam Zhao couldn’t help but curse loudly again, “That bastard! I shouldn’t have given birth to him in the first place.”
Jiang’s father weakly said from the side, “He’s been alive for twenty years now, you shouldn’t get so angry.”
Madam Zhao was speechless.
Because of this little incident, Madam Zhao was still fuming. But before Jiang’s father went to the county town with the basket on his back, the two of them circled around the door of Jiang Chengyan’s house. Jiang’s father also moved the small reclining chair he had prepared for Bai Yan inside before they left.
……
Once they arrived in the county town, Madam Zhao pulled Jiang’s father toward a tailor’s shop. “Since we’re buying a shop, we should dress better.” So, once inside, they changed out of their worn clothes.
Jiang’s father was naturally handsome, and after a bit of tidying up, he looked quite like a refined merchant.
Half an hour later, the two of them came out of Hengfeng Carpentry Shop. Clearly, the contract for buying the shop had already been signed.
……
The boss of Hengfeng was hastily gathering silver notes as he came out when a woman, who seemed to have been waiting for a long time, suddenly appeared beside him. “Master Lin, it’s been ages since you visited our flower house. This flower girl has missed you terribly.”
“Go away, I don’t have time for you now.” Master Lin hurried to leave the county town. Seeing the woman blocking his way, he pushed her aside roughly.
The woman’s curious gaze followed the departing couple’s backs. Her eyes darted cleverly before she leaned close to Master Lin again and asked, “Master Lin, who was that gentleman just now? What kind of immortal is he?”
“That one is truly a master who hides his true self. Who would’ve thought, Jiang Chengyan is actually his son,” Master Lin murmured quietly.
At first, she thought she had met some country bumpkin, but unexpectedly, that couple was Jiang Chengyan’s parents. Most people in this county didn’t know who Jiang Chengyan was, but Master Lin traveled frequently and had many sources of information. He was well aware of that unparalleled business prodigy who held sway in the trade world.
Master Lin thought he was speaking quietly, but unexpectedly, the sharp-eared woman heard everything clearly.
When she heard Jiang Chengyan’s name, a poisonous gleam instantly flashed through her eyes.
Her flower house had fallen to this pitiful state of having to actively solicit customers—all because of Jiang Chengyan.
Because she had taken his young wife hostage, he had ruined her flower house.
Thinking of her now irreparably ruined flower house, her gaze once again fixed on the departing elegant figure of Jiang’s father, and her fingers slowly clenched.
……
After Jiang Chengyan brought his young wife back, Bai Yan still curled up in the corner of the kang bed, watching outside with wary eyes.
“There are no dogs in the house. Just sleep peacefully,” Jiang Chengyan said. When he had brought her back, she was still napping; now she looked just as sleepy.
“There are!” Bai Yan said stubbornly.
“What is there?” Jiang Chengyan asked.
“Dogs!” Bai Yan repeated loudly.
“Where are the dogs?” Jiang Chengyan crossed his arms, looking at Bai Yan leisurely.
Bai Yan raised her finger, pointing toward Jiang Chengyan.
Jiang Chengyan sneered coldly, placing both hands on the edge of the kang bed, the pressure in his demeanor once again pressing down on Bai Yan…
