Chapter 19: The Insignificant Person
Her wrist throbbed with pain from his grip; she glanced down to see a red ring already encircling her skin.
Everything had happened too fast. Lou Yizhou had not even given Song Yin a chance to explain. Perhaps, with a single word from that young lady, Lou Yizhou had no need for explanations.
Song Yin felt it was for the best. She would simply leave; after this ordeal, she would never have to return. She felt as though she had finally received the exact outcome she had been bracing herself for.
Just as the car was starting, Auntie Wang hurried over to explain to Lou Yizhou, "It was the young lady who wanted to see little Song, which is why I took the liberty of letting her go up. Little Song is such a sensible girl; why would she have gone up on her own accord? I only thought that since the young lady rarely wants to see outsiders, I would make the decision myself. Third Master, this has nothing to do with little Song."
Lou Yizhou remained expressionless as he looked at Song Yin. Only now did he notice a small adhesive bandage on the corner of her forehead. Was she hurt?
In the instant her name was cleared, Song Yin lost her composure. She could not tell if it was the pain in her wrist or the injustice of being falsely accused. However, she had no habit of showing weakness in front of others, so she stubbornly turned her face away, tilted her head slightly, and wiped her eyes.
Those in high positions are not accustomed to apologizing. A mistake is simply a mistake.
As Lou Yizhou had said earlier, she would just have to endure it. After a two-second silence, he spoke again, "Send her away."
The car drove off, leaving Blue Mountain Villa. Auntie Wang stood where she was, feeling utterly helpless. She sighed, "Little Song is such a good person. Third Master, you..."
A sharp glance from Lou Yizhou silenced her. He spoke coldly, "Your duty is to take good care of the young lady; everything else is none of your concern. I will not pursue your unauthorized decision to let her up today, but there must not be a next time."
Auntie Wang murmured, "It’s so rare to see you bring anyone here, and now you’ve scared her off—how could there be a next time?"
Lou Yizhou felt a sense of powerlessness, yet he replied indifferently, "Auntie Wang, she is nothing more than an outsider. That I have not held you accountable for today's events is already a mercy. Do not forget who you work for."
Auntie Wang did not seem particularly troubled; she merely shook her head. Lou Yizhou walked into the living room and headed straight for the second floor.
"Lou Shuyue! Why did you lie?"
Lou Shuyue was sitting on the window seat, clutching a plush toy. From that vantage point, she had watched the entire process of Lou Yizhou shoving Song Yin into the car and driving her away.
Lou Shuyue presented only one side of her delicate face to Lou Yizhou; as she turned to look at him, the contrast between the two sides of her face was striking. Those unfamiliar with her would indeed be frightened.
"Brother, do you like her? Otherwise, you wouldn't have brought her here. In all these years, you’ve never brought a stranger."
"So, this is how you choose to verify her importance to me?"
Lou Shuyue nodded. "Yes."
"And do you have your answer?"
Lou Shuyue pursed her lips. "I think so. But after speaking with her for a moment, I found her to be quite an interesting person. Wouldn't you agree, Brother?"
Lou Yizhou looked at her calmly. "She is merely an insignificant person. If you don't like her, I won't let her come here again."
Lou Shuyue walked over and hugged him. "Brother, I don't like her. She’s just like all those other women out there—not sincere toward you at all. She just thinks she’s pretty and is only after your money. Please don't see her anymore, okay?"
Lou Yizhou stroked her hair and said, "Alright."
