Chapter 149: I Truly Like Zhao Yutong the Most
Zhang Wuyong walked past the four young girls.
As he walked further away, he faintly heard them whispering amongst themselves:
"That guy is so scary."
"Is he in a gang or something?"
"Based on how he was dressed just now, I honestly thought he was Brother Sect Leader."
"No way, his hairstyle is totally different. Brother Zhang Wuqi is ten times—no, a million times more handsome than him."
This wasn't to say they actually dared to badmouth him right to his face. Rather, Zhang Wuyong's hearing had recently become much sharper than before, and the four girls only dared to speak once they assumed he was far enough away not to hear.
Zhang Wuyong made a small loop and returned to Tongtong's side.
Tongtong was holding the glasses he had taken off, having watched everything from a distance. As he came back, she raised her head, reached out, and gently brushed the bangs from his forehead. "You actually look pretty good like this, you know? I really don't get those people."
Originally, the idea was just to use this look to keep those young girls from recognizing him. But seeing them recoil in such fear, treating him as if he were a born villain, had made her quite angry.
Clearly, he looked great like this too.
Zhang Wuyong looked down at Zhao Yutong.
His gaze was exceptionally earnest. Like a snowman in the depths of winter gazing upon a floral fairy of spring flying in from the southern lands, his expression suddenly melted into spring water.
"What is it?" Zhao Yutong felt a blush rise up from his intense and tender gaze.
"I really love Zhao Yutong the most after all!" Zhang Wuyong reached out and pulled the girl tightly into his embrace.
"Why are you suddenly saying things like that?" Zhao Yutong felt her face flush as she was held tightly against him. "We're out on the street."
Holding the petite yet radiant-as-springtime Tongtong in his arms, Zhang Wuyong couldn't bring himself to let go. He finally understood why he had always loved her.
Because she was good to him when he was handsome.
She was good to him when he wasn't handsome.
She was good to him when his grades improved and he became a legend at the No. 2 High School.
And she was good to him when his grades plummeted, reducing him to a delinquent and a slacker in the eyes of others.
In the days to come, he might achieve great success. Or he might fall into obscurity. In times of success, he would never want to let her go; in times of failure, he could still return to her side... For him, a life like this was already more than enough.

[“Merging into the Torrent” is the seventh insight in the Celestine Prophecy.]
[This prophecy suggests that humanity will eventually realize that when you possess a sufficient amount of "energy," you can share and give it away, and others are capable of receiving it.]
[When that person receives your "energy" (love and a sense of happiness), they too acquire that energy and are able to feed the energy they possess back to you.]
[In this way, these two energies can fuse together, becoming a far more powerful and mysterious force. Relying on this force, with the help of others, you can walk inward toward your own soul and thereby uncover the goodness and beauty hidden within the spiritual fabric of the world.]
Lujiang.
A pair of slender, pale little hands finished typing out the words above.
Message after message was sent to the other side of the chat window. With a tiny finger, one of those small hands gently slid across the mousepad of the laptop, closing the chat window.
In the distance, Zhao Yutong and Zhang Wuyong had finally finished buying their laptop. On the walk home, Zhao Yutong opened her mobile QQ and saw the contents that had been sent to her.
The seventh insight?
She pulled the shoulder straps of her laptop bag into place, slinging it over her back. Holding her phone in both hands, she looked up at the cloudless sky. Although this kind of explanation carried a certain mystical flavor, she truly believed that mysticism existed in this world.
"Tongtong, what on earth are you up to?" Zhang Wuyong also believed mysticism existed, mostly because Tongtong had been acting so mysterious these past few days. Even though he knew he shouldn't pry too much, he couldn't help his curiosity.
Zhao Yutong turned the chat screen toward him.
"A prophecy? The seventh insight? What is this?" After reading it, Zhang Wuyong found himself even more baffled. He looked at the name at the top of the chat window.
It read "Lumine".
Zhang Wuyong asked, "Who is this? Does she play Genshin Impact too?"
"Genshin Impact?" Zhao Yutong was taken aback by the question. "Do they talk about this kind of stuff in Genshin Impact?"
"No!" Zhang Wuyong pointed at the name at the top of the chat. "Lumine... the female protagonist of Genshin Impact is named that."
"Oh!" Zhao Yutong turned her phone screen back. "She's a pretty well-known female illustrator in the art world, and she's also well-versed in all sorts of philosophy and mysticism. She's not some childish person."
"Hey, hey." Since when was playing a game considered childish? Then again, compared to the contents of this chat window, he couldn't really argue if she called Genshin players childish. After all, his Tongtong was already delving into philosophy.
Zhang Wuyong slung his laptop bag over one shoulder and continued to ask, "What on earth is this Celestine Prophecy thing anyway? Why are you suddenly asking people about this kind of stuff?"
Tongtong's face flushed. "I'm not telling you."
Zhang Wuyong was startled. "Is this Lumine person a guy or a girl?"
Tongtong shot him a sidelong glance. "Didn't I just say she's a female illustrator? She's been famous in her field for a long time."
Zhang Wuyong asked, "Then why are you blushing?"
Tongtong protested indignantly, "Who's blushing? Besides, blushing has nothing to do with anyone else."
"Then what is it for?" Zhang Wuyong's curiosity grew even stronger. "Let me tell you, you are not allowed to go researching any of those R-rated, suggestive things on your own. You have to wait for me to teach you."
"Who's going to research stuff like that?" Tongtong swung her fist to hit him. "And you're not allowed to teach me either!"
"I'm going to teach you anyway!" Zhang Wuyong bumped her with his shoulder, making her face turn even redder.
On the way home, they stopped by the ice cream wholesale shop near their residential complex and bought two large bags of ice cream. It wasn't for any other purpose than the fact that the weather was genuinely turning hot. Having an ice cream every day was a deeply enjoyable treat.
Coming out of the elevator, each carrying their newly purchased laptops and a full bag of ice cream, they headed home.
Zhao Yutong returned to her apartment, shoved the ice cream into the refrigerator, and placed the laptop in her bedroom. After chatting with her mother for a bit, she turned on the computer.
First, she transferred a document from her tablet to the laptop via cloud storage.
The document was titled: "The Dream is Still Unawakened."
It was just a temporary title she had chosen. Opening it, she re-read the first twenty thousand words of the document.
Should twenty thousand words be enough?
Zhao Yutong was writing a book. She had some ideas she wanted to put into words. The reason she hadn't told Wuyong was that writing something like this felt quite embarrassing in the beginning. Moreover, his first livestream had been such a massive success; if her very first novel got rejected right out of the gate, it would be too humiliating.
Even though Wuyong wouldn't laugh at her for it, she would still feel ashamed of herself.
Zhao Yutong had already discussed the content with Teacher Lumine many times, receiving guidance on everything from an engaging opening to the subsequent plot development.
Now, she needed to send these opening twenty thousand words to the editor recommended by Teacher Lumine.
The moment she hit send, emailing those twenty thousand words to the editor's address, her heart fluttered with intense nervousness.
