Pei Siya shot him a cold glance over his shoulder. “What are you looking at?”

The greasy man was startled by Pei Siya’s gaze. He blurted out a curse, then said, “I was just glancing at you guys.”

Not daring to confront the towering Pei Siya, who was over 190 centimeters tall, the man began walking away while grumbling, “Can’t afford a hotel room, yet still come to the restroom.”

After he left, Pei Siya immediately straightened up.

Li Yunchu peeked outside; the man was gone and had paid his 4 yuan bill with a very sour expression.

She felt delighted.

No longer having to listen to his disgusting words, and seeing him frown as he paid, Li Yunchu felt a wave of relief wash over her.

It turned out that Pei Siya wasn’t being lecherous but was actually helping her avoid that man.

Li Yunchu’s cheeks flushed. “Doctor Pei, thank you. I misunderstood just now.”

Pei Siya raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

It wasn’t exactly a misunderstanding—he did have some intentions after all.

This was the first time he had such close contact with a young lady.

Pei Siya felt his heart rate quicken; the scent of the girl made him tense.

Truly exasperating.

“Doctor Pei, why… why are you here?”

Li Yunchu found the silence awkward and took the initiative to ask.

Pei Siya glanced at her. “Shouldn’t that be my question to Miss Li?”

Li Yunchu suddenly felt guilty.

She had rejected Doctor Pei, then agreed to go on a blind date with someone like that.

In the end, it was Doctor Pei who came to her rescue.

If it had been someone else, they might have mocked her by now.

“I… my mother insisted on setting me up again.”

Li Yunchu feared Pei Siya might misunderstand—after all, her mother and Pei’s aunt were close. If Aunt Pei and Doctor Pei thought her mother was pushing her to date others again, it might damage their relationship.

So she added, “She said if I don’t get along with you, I have to continue going on blind dates.”

She heard the man chuckle softly. “So you chose to go on blind dates, preferring that over spending time with me?”

Li Yunchu lowered her gaze. “That’s not entirely true, Doctor Pei. Actually… I’m not ready for marriage. I was just trying to placate my mother. It’s not that I don’t want to interact with you; I just don’t want to hold you back.”

After speaking, she slowly lifted her eyes to look at him. “Doctor Pei, you probably want to be with someone you like, right? Maybe it’s because you don’t have that person now, so you’re willing to compromise, isn’t it?”

She summoned her courage to ask.

Pei Siya stared at her for a long while.

The young lady’s eyes were bright, like a clear, tranquil pool—the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen.

“You’re right, I do want to marry someone I like,” he said.

“But the second part is wrong—I haven’t compromised, nor will I.”

Hearing this, Li Yunchu was momentarily stunned. If he wanted to marry the person he liked, why was he still going on blind dates?

And what did he mean by not compromising?

Her gaze was filled with confusion. Wouldn’t marrying her be a form of compromise?

What was Pei Siya implying?

“Miss Li, it’s hard to find someone you like, but marrying you isn’t a compromise,” Pei Siya finally said, carefully softening his words.

He was afraid a blunt statement like—

“It’s not a compromise because the person I like is Miss Li”

—would startle the young lady.

No matter how eager he was, he couldn’t scare her like that. She would surely think he had ulterior motives.

Li Yunchu bit her lip. “Well… let’s not talk about this now, Doctor Pei. Where do you want to eat tomorrow? Should I let you pick the restaurant and I’ll make the reservation, or should I just decide myself?”

She tried to change the subject.

Pei Siya wasn’t in a hurry.

“You choose,” he said simply.

“Okay.”

Li Yunchu finally breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, Doctor Pei didn’t press further.

The next day, Li Yunchu used the hair removal cream to remove the hair on her arms and legs.

The cream was the same one Pei Siya had given her before—very effective, though it couldn’t be used for too long, only about a week’s worth.

Because she had so much hair on her arms and legs that even after using it, it still grew back quickly—on average every two days—she had been anxious and hadn’t dared to wear dresses.

But this blind date was different from the past ones.

She would be treating Doctor Pei to dinner and couldn’t show up looking shabby.

She had to present herself properly.

She picked a dress that came just above the knees, exposing fair arms and slender legs. Although she wore no heavy makeup, just a touch of lipstick to brighten her complexion, she looked entirely different.

After changing into the dress, Li Yunchu went downstairs and happened to run into her mother.

“Busy lady, dressing so nicely today. Tell me—are you going to see that Pei Siya?”

“Not intentionally,” Li Yunchu replied. “It’s just that a few days ago Doctor Pei helped me get to the hospital, so I want to thank him by inviting him to dinner.”

“Dinner sounds great. Maybe after spending time together, you’ll get to know each other better. Don’t reject him outright. You’ve failed at blind dates before; this time you finally met someone suitable. Yunchu, you have to seize this chance.”

Li Yunchu didn’t want to listen to her mother’s nagging anymore. “Mom, I’m running late. I have to go!”

She grabbed her bag and ran off.

Li Yunchu soon arrived at the restaurant.

The atmosphere was exquisite, with the sound of piano music drifting through the air.

Upon entering, her eyes immediately found the man not far away.

He was dressed formally, a suit and tie, exuding the aura of a business elite.

Li Yunchu hurried over. “Doctor Pei, have you been waiting long? Sorry…”

“No need to apologize. As a gentleman, it’s only right to wait,” he replied calmly, though his heart was already racing.

Pei Siya’s gaze landed on the girl’s exposed arms; the skin showed no sign of hair, clearly treated with the hair removal cream.

She was even fairer than he imagined.

His eyes drifted downward briefly but he quickly looked away. The girl didn’t like lecherous behavior; he needed to restrain himself.

There would be plenty of time to get to know her better later.

Pei Siya clenched his fists, wondering what exactly he was thinking.

Before the girl even said much, his mind was already drifting toward other, deeper understandings.

Li Yunchu wanted to start a conversation but didn’t know what to say.

If all else failed...

She could talk about her body condition—about her hair growth.

“Doctor Pei,” she said, extending her arm. “I used the hair removal cream you gave me these past few days. My arms are much cleaner now. Do you think it’s helped reduce the hair?”
