Chapter 54: The Misty Calamity of Penglai
Bai Suzhen remained in the rear, ready at any moment to tend to the wounds of Han Yang and the others.
Suddenly, a cataclysmic battle erupted on the sea’s surface.
Han Yang, relying on his speed advantage, skillfully evaded the sea demon’s attacks while seizing opportunities to counterstrike.
Though Zhu Ganglie and Jiaolong were no match for the sea demon’s power, their fearless and tenacious spirit successfully held back part of its strength.
“Damn reptiles! How dare you hurt me!” the sea demon roared furiously. Its massive tentacles lashed out like a violent storm, churning the surrounding waters into chaos.
Han Yang and his companions fought while retreating, gradually being driven into a desperate situation.
At that moment, Han Yang suddenly felt a powerful suction force emanate from the sea demon’s mouth, as if it intended to swallow him whole.
“This is bad! The beast is about to unleash its ultimate move!” Han Yang thought grimly, scrambling to evade.
But he found his body firmly locked in place, unable to move an inch.
“Boss!”
“Master!”
Zhu Ganglie, Jiaolong, and Bai Suzhen shouted anxiously upon seeing this.
Just as Han Yang was about to be devoured, the demon core within his dantian trembled violently. A surge of overwhelming power coursed through his entire body.
The energy of the demon core rushed through him like a raging flood breaking through a dam, flooding his limbs and bones.
He felt as though a volcano was erupting inside him, an endless power threatening to explode from within.
The suction force that had threatened to drag him into the abyss now felt like a gentle breeze caressing his face, utterly insignificant.
With a fierce thrust of his wings, Han Yang radiated golden light like a bursting sun, instantly illuminating the entire sea.
He transformed into a streak of golden lightning, so swift that the naked eye could barely track him.
Before the sea demon’s massive body could react, Han Yang’s sharp claws had already plunged deep into its head.
“Aaargh!”
A piercing, anguished scream echoed through the skies as the sea demon’s enormous body convulsed violently.
Dark green blood sprayed like a fountain, staining the surrounding waters a horrifying hue.
Han Yang’s eyes held no mercy. From his mouth burst a jet of golden flames, like a fiery dragon that instantly engulfed the sea demon’s head.
The sea demon struggled briefly within the flames before succumbing completely.
Its colossal body slowly sank to the ocean floor, stirring a tremendous whirlpool.
“Whew...” Han Yang hovered midair, taking a deep breath as he felt the surging power within him.
The strength of this demon core was far greater than he had imagined.
He glanced back at Zhu Ganglie and the others, relieved to see they were unharmed.
Bai Suzhen flew to his side, concern shining in her eyes.
“Master, are you alright?”
Han Yang smiled faintly and shook his head.
“I’m fine. Thanks to this demon core, I’ve turned misfortune into blessing.”
He moved his body, feeling infused with newfound strength.
“This sensation—truly indescribable!”
“Boss, you’re incredible!” Zhu Ganglie shouted excitedly.
“To think you actually roasted that stinking octopus monster! Now we can feast!”
Jiaolong swam over, respectfully saying,
“Master, your divine might is awe-inspiring. I am in awe.”
Han Yang chuckled and said, “Thanks to everyone’s cooperation, we defeated that sea demon. But...” His expression suddenly darkened.
“This sea demon was so powerful; I fear there may be even greater beings lurking in these waters. We must proceed cautiously.”
“Boss, what’s there to fear? With you around, no monster can scare us!” Zhu Ganglie pounded his chest confidently.
Han Yang could only shake his head helplessly; this pig demon was always so fearless and reckless.
After resting briefly, the group continued flying toward the legendary Penglai Immortal Island.
After several days, they encountered a sea region shrouded in mist.
“This fog...” Han Yang furrowed his brow. “There’s something strange about it.”
“Boss, what’s so strange about the fog?” Zhu Ganglie asked in a gruff voice.
“Isn’t it just ordinary fog?”
“No, it feels like something is hidden within this fog...” Han Yang’s eyes gleamed with golden light as he tried to peer through it.
Yet his vision was blocked; he could not discern what lay beyond.
Suddenly, eerie singing drifted from within the mist.
The melody was enchanting yet carried an indescribable strangeness, sending chills down the spine.
“This isn’t good! There’s something off about the singing!” Han Yang’s face changed as he covered his ears.
But the song seemed to penetrate directly into his mind, impossible to block.
He felt his consciousness growing hazy; the world around him began to distort.
“Master!” Bai Suzhen cried out, rushing to steady Han Yang.
“I... I’m fine...” Han Yang struggled to say, but his voice grew weaker.
“Boss, what’s wrong?” Zhu Ganglie noticed something was amiss and asked anxiously.
Han Yang shook his head, trying to speak, but suddenly his eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
“Master!” Bai Suzhen shouted, tears welling in her eyes.
“Boss!” Zhu Ganglie stood frozen, panic-stricken.
Within the mist, the sinister song continued, sending shivers down their spines.
The melody was like a bone-grinding worm burrowing into the minds of Bai Suzhen and Zhu Ganglie.
Their consciousnesses became muddied and chaotic, like a murky swamp.
Their steps faltered, yet they involuntarily moved deeper into the fog.
Jiaolong fought to resist the song’s invasion, his large dragon eyes vigilantly scanning their surroundings.
Deep within the mist, a crystal palace gradually appeared, shimmering with magnificent light.
Inside the palace, a woman dressed in red gauze reclined on a throne, her beauty breathtaking but exuding a cold, otherworldly aura.
She gazed at Han Yang and the others drawn by the song, a mocking smile curling her lips.
Han Yang was brought into the palace. The red-clad woman approached gracefully and parted her crimson lips.
“I am Haitang, mistress of this sea domain.”
She raised a jade hand, and a red light enveloped Han Yang, a strange power flooding into his mind.
His eyes glazed over, memories growing unclear.
Looking at Haitang, he thought her a celestial beauty, an inexplicable affection swelling in his heart.
“Lord Han Yang, I have long admired you. Will you stay and keep me company?”
Haitang’s voice was soft and seductive, like poppies lulling one into a trance.
“I... I will,” Han Yang said dreamily, already forgetting Bai Suzhen and the others.
Haitang rejoiced and ordered a grand banquet for Han Yang—delicacies from mountains and seas, exquisite wines flowing endlessly onto the table.
Han Yang was intoxicated in this tender embrace, obedient to all of Haitang’s words.
Meanwhile, Bai Suzhen, Zhu Ganglie, and Jiaolong were imprisoned in a dark, gloomy cage.
Jiaolong roared furiously, repeatedly battering the cage like an ant shaking a tree, but it remained immovable.
“Damn it! What kind of devilish material is this cage made of? So sturdy!”
Zhu Ganglie slumped to the ground, utterly despondent.
“It’s over, it’s over. The boss must have been bewitched by that enchantress. Now we’re all doomed!”
