Huo Runduo turned and left, taking all the men who had barged in with him along.

Chu Hanliang paid no mind to being coldly rejected by his friend and instead focused intently on studying the floor tiles. He discovered that although some tiles were loose, there was no hidden mechanism beneath them, leaving him deeply disappointed.

Huo Runduo emerged from the main room, ordering his men to keep watch outside while he returned to the car.

The small house had been searched thoroughly, down to every mouse hole. If there had been any trouble, it would have been found. So was Chu Hanliang simply making things difficult for the Qu family again?

Huo Runduo sat in the driver’s seat, fingers lightly tapping the steering wheel as he pondered the wedding of the Chu and Qu families scheduled for the day after tomorrow. Should he go out to avoid trouble?

Suddenly, a sharp, hard sensation struck the back of his head. Raising his hand to touch it, he caught sight of a face as radiant as the bright moon in the rearview mirror.

The woman’s eyes were icy and clear, her nose finely sculpted like jade, and her red lips as delicate and alluring as freshly bloomed petals. Yet her aura was cold and fierce, almost fearsome.

“You… you’re Qu Pan?”

Huo Runduo had seen Qu Pan’s portrait and immediately recognized her.

Qu Pan did not deny it. Pressing a gun against the back of Huo Runduo’s head, her red lips parted slightly.

“Drive.”

The courtyard had already been watched by Chu Hanliang, so she had no choice but to hide elsewhere for a while—perhaps at the home of one of Chu Hanliang’s trusted men.

The young marshal’s wife was actually still alive!

Huo Runduo was stunned. As he started the car, he saw Chu Hanliang emerge from the vermilion main gate. Qu Pan noticed him as well.

“Behave if you don’t want to die.” Qu Pan warned coldly.

The young marshal’s wife was terrifyingly fierce; Huo Runduo had no choice but to suppress his anxiety and obey as a dutiful driver.

“Who do you live with?” Qu Pan asked.

“Alone.” Huo Runduo replied.

Though he was the eldest son of the Huo family, he was fed up with the scheming of the large clan and had bought a modest apartment to live by himself.

Just as she wished, Qu Pan ordered, “Take me home.”

Huo Runduo slammed on the brakes in panic. “To my home?”

If Chu Hanliang found out he’d brought the young marshal’s wife to his place, he’d surely tear him apart.

“Enough talk. Start driving.”

Truly a married couple—two living devils. What had he done to deserve this?

Huo Runduo restarted the car, but suddenly felt a loosening at his waist. Qu Pan had snatched his gun away.

She threatened, “If you dare reveal my whereabouts to Chu Hanliang, I’ll use this gun to execute the marshal. Then even your young marshal won’t be able to protect you.”

Convinced Qu Pan wouldn’t run off, Huo Runduo feigned fear and cooperated.

“Yes, don’t worry. I wouldn’t dare.”

Qu Pan rolled down the window and, as the car turned, tossed Huo Runduo’s gun out.

I'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
