Chapter 15: If You Don’t Want Me to Die Young, Assign Someone Else

After speaking, the atmosphere in the car turned somewhat strange.
Fu Jiahui was incredibly restless, though he couldn’t quite pinpoint the reason.
In his memory, he had known Lin Xiange simply because she resembled Lin Yu; since he couldn’t have Lin Yu, he took Lin Xiange instead.
He locked Lin Xiange in a room, treating her like his personal doll.
But at some unknown point, something had silently shifted.
Lin Yu had become merely an excuse for him.
Lin Xiange watched Fu Jiahui’s practiced gesture as he smoked.
Her brows furrowed, her voice cold and clear.
“Put it out. I don’t like that smell.”
Fu Jiahui’s hand reacted faster than his mind.
Tilting his head, he stared at his empty fingertips, then abruptly spun in the opposite direction to face Lin Xiange.
“You…”
Lin Xiange locked eyes with Fu Jiahui, knowing he was angry.
His anger was more honest in his body than in his mind.
But so what?
In Lin Xiange’s memory, Fu Jiahui had always been obedient to orders.
As long as he wasn’t harmed, no matter how hard Lin Yu tried, she would make Fu Jiahui remember who she truly was.
Fu Jiahui shot Lin Xiange a fierce sideways glance, then started the car and sped away.
Back at the Fu residence, Lin Xiange had already fallen asleep in the passenger seat.
After several attempts, Fu Jiahui resigned himself to carrying her inside.
Carefully, as if handling a precious treasure.
Unlike before, there was no verbal abuse or physical harm…
This time, Fu Jiahui had his own thoughts.
After the bedroom door closed, Lin Xiange slowly opened her eyes halfway, a smile playing at the corner of her lips.
She had won.
—
Main Residence.
Lin Yu sat in her room, staring at the virtual screen projected by the system.
With a crash, everything on the vanity shattered.
“Fu Suiyu, tell me, why is she alive? Wasn’t she supposed to be dead so thoroughly? Nothing was left, yet why does she still appear before us so well?”
The orb of light flickered distantly, perhaps sensing that its current host was somewhat deranged.
The mechanical voice was hoarse!
“Anyway, since we managed to kill her once, we can kill her a second time!”
Lin Yu raised her hand, eyes fixed on the glowing orb.
“No, don’t kill her yet. I want to see who will be the final victor. We’ve wandered countless small worlds for this mission—was there ever a time we failed?”
Suddenly, Lin Yu laughed—a bitter, piercing sound.
Terrifying beyond measure.

Fu Suiyu woke up.
She took out her phone; it was past four in the morning.
Outside, it had begun to rain.
She walked to the window, gazing out while clutching her chest.
Only the devil knew how draining nightmares could be.
Just now, she had seen her own end again—an unbearable tragedy. No matter how many times she rewound, she could never defeat that otherworldly soul. In the end, her entire family’s fate was doomed.
The more she thought about it, the more she hated it.
Why?
Why did her family have to be the stepping stones for that soul?
Suddenly, the sky was torn apart by a massive silver lightning bolt, and the world was instantly shrouded in a deathly pale hue.
Thunder rumbled loudly.
Raindrops suddenly grew larger, pounding against the glass with a clatter, like beads falling onto a porcelain plate.
In that instant, Fu Suiyu became much clearer-headed.
She just stared at the terrifying scene outside.
Gripping her clothes tightly.
Perhaps it was this sudden rain; the day was foggy, the clouds black and oppressive, weighing heavily on everyone.
Fu Suiyu glanced out the window.
The next second, rubbing her backside, she exclaimed,
“Fu Jiahui, what are you doing? It’s break time! Can’t I just enjoy looking outside?”
“No!”
Fu Suiyu snorted, her face full of displeasure.
Suddenly, as if she noticed something, she circled around Fu Jiahui with her hands behind her back.
She seemed to detect that Fu Jiahui was acting strangely today. Previously, if any of their puppet-like selves showed signs of rebellion, the fake Lin Yu and the system would drug them to make them more obedient.
Last night, Fu Jiahui had dragged Lin Xiange away without incident.
But she had been watching.
Nothing had happened.
Now, Fu Suiyu looked at Fu Jiahui, feeling that he wasn’t exactly obedient.
“What are you staring at? If it weren’t for big brother asking me to watch you study, I wouldn’t have the leisure.”
Fu Suiyu’s inner thoughts: But he isn’t completely disobedient either.
“Stop staring at me. Class has started; go do your exercises!”
Seizing a moment when the tutor wasn’t paying attention, Fu Suiyu quickly gave Fu Jiahui the middle finger.
Out of respect for the teacher, Fu Jiahui suppressed his anger.
He was thoroughly displeased.
None of them took him seriously!
How infuriating!
Fu Jiahui furiously tapped on his phone screen.
“I’m done. You guys watch her.”
“Fu… bro, did you see the message? I said I’m done. I can’t control her. If you don’t want me to die young, arrange someone else.”
“No. Send your assistant here. I have my own matters to attend to.”
Fu Jiahui glared at the name Fu Jiajin.

He was silently grumbling in his heart as messages kept flooding in.
“What work do you have, hmm?”
“You won’t manage the company, won’t negotiate projects, won’t network—what else can you do?”
“If you don’t watch Fu Suiyu, who else are you planning to kidnap? Which woman are you going to lash with your little whip next?”
Fu Jiahui’s face flushed scarlet.
“Bro.”
“!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Fu Jiajin thought for a moment: to make employees obey, the benefits had to be good.
Meanwhile, on the other end, Fu Jiahui stared at a string of numbers.
10,000,000,000,000...
Counting them until his tongue started to twist.
“You think I’m someone who just thinks of money on impulse?”
The next second, another transfer notification popped up on Fu Jiahui’s phone.
His eyes snapped wide open.
“President Fu, I will complete your task well.”
“Salute.”
Fu Jiajin put down his phone. He knew exactly what kind of person his younger brother was!
Money? He had plenty.
If not enough, he’d add more!
And so, work resumed.
Suddenly, the office door opened. It was his special assistant. They exchanged a glance, and Fu Jiajin immediately knew who had arrived.
Years of working together had forged this tacit understanding.
He watched Lin Yu bring Shen Changhun inside and sit casually on the luxurious sofa.
Fu Jiajin couldn’t help but frown, the beads in his hand clacking against each other.
He glanced at his assistant.
“Assistant Lu, please leave. Postpone the following meetings.”
“Yes!”
The office fell into an unusual silence.
Lin Yu was the first to speak.
“Bro, could you let him into Fu Corporation? Just for my sake!”
“Yes.”
Fu Jiajin’s prompt agreement was unexpected.
Lin Yu was about to thank him.
Fu Jiajin gestured.
“I can let him in, but he has to prove himself. Students from Jingbei University joining Fu Corporation through recruitment is a piece of cake, isn’t it, Shen Changhun?”
Shen Changhun glanced at Lin Yu.
“I…”
“Bro, don’t worry. He’ll take the proper route and receive an offer from our company.”
