While Fu Suiyu was still standing there in a daze, she looked toward Lin Yu again and found her staring at her with a strange smile.

Fu Suiyu took a small step backward, and gooseflesh rose all over her body.

Like a madwoman, Lin Yu burst into laughter. Her beautiful hair suddenly drifted upward, and Fu Suiyu braced herself against the door, struggling to remain standing.

Lin Yu shouted, “Fu Suiyu, your brother will belong to me tonight. Not even the hospital can save him. If you try to stop me, just watch him die!”

“My medicine is an aphrodisiac provided by the system itself. Its potency is far greater than anything in this pathetic world of yours.”

As she spoke, Lin Yu suddenly began to laugh. Her face twisted grotesquely, and even her features seemed to shift out of place.

Then she shouted, “System, pull her away!”

Fu Suiyu’s feet moved against her will, and an unseen force pinned her firmly against the wall.

“No! You can’t!”

“You mustn’t do this!”

Fu Suiyu and Lin Yu stared at each other through a gap that was shrinking by the second.

“Don’t do this, Lin Yu!”

“You monster! Get out of my sister’s body! What on earth are you doing?”

“Do you have any idea what the consequences will be?”

A hoarse, mechanical voice suddenly drilled into Fu Suiyu’s ears.

“Go ahead and scream. No one will wake up tonight!”

Fu Suiyu stared in terror at the glowing orb hovering before her, her entire body trembling.

In the struggle, the bandage around her left hand, wrapped earlier that day, suddenly loosened and fell away. Blood immediately seeped from the wound.

The next instant, the force restraining her vanished without warning.

Almost at once, Fu Suiyu lunged toward Fu Jiajin’s door and twisted the lock open.

Lin Yu was already straddling Fu Jiajin. Fu Suiyu seized her by the hair and dragged her away from him.

A few seconds later, Fu Suiyu looked at her bleeding left hand and remembered everything that had happened outside the door. She smeared the blood wildly across Lin Yu’s face.

A moment later, an agonized scream tore through the room.

Lin Yu seemed to lose control of her body all at once and fell straight backward.

After confirming that Lin Yu was still breathing, Fu Suiyu pulled her phone from her pocket and called Jiang Jiujiu again and again.

Once Jiang Jiujiu gave her answer, Fu Suiyu dragged Lin Yu out of the room.

Fu Jiahui emerged with his hair in disarray and sweat covering his body. Following Fu Suiyu’s gaze, he immediately locked Fu Jiajin’s door.

No matter how much they hated the false Lin Yu, Fu Suiyu could not bring herself to ignore the body she inhabited. Together, she and Fu Jiahui placed Lin Yu on her bed.

They handled her with extreme care.

When Fu Suiyu saw the bruises covering Lin Yu’s body, tears suddenly spilled from her eyes.

“Big sister…”

“Please come back soon!”

Fu Jiahui waited for Fu Suiyu in the common area outside. His body was damp with sweat, and the night air made him feel cold.

He truly had never imagined that the consciousness Fu Suiyu had mentioned could be so terrifying—capable of taking control of him.

When Fu Suiyu came out, she exchanged a glance with Fu Jiahui.

Before either of them could say anything, the sound of tires scraping against the ground rang out outside.

Fu Jiahui patted Fu Suiyu and gave her a reassuring look.

After quickly explaining the situation to Jiang Jiujiu, she rushed without hesitation toward the room where Fu Jiajin was.

She had been terrified when she received Fu Suiyu’s call. Who knew what might have happened?

Inside the room came Fu Jiajin’s low growl. Perhaps because the false Lin Yu had just passed out, his reason had returned to him somewhat, and he sensed Jiang Jiujiu almost immediately.

Confronted with her, Fu Jiajin could only retreat.

His excellent upbringing made it impossible for him to force such a thing upon anyone—especially Jiang Jiujiu, the girl he loved.

His mother had told him since childhood that if he loved someone, he had to respect her.

Jiang Jiujiu reached for Fu Jiajin’s hand first and realized that his entire body was trembling strangely.

She bent down and solemnly cupped his face in her hands.

“Fu Jiajin, we’re already engaged!”

“No. We need to go to the hospital!”

“If the hospital could help, why are you still here? What did Lin Yu say?”

The two of them fell silent.

Fu Jiajin’s soft voice, thick with emotion, suddenly entered Jiang Jiujiu’s mind. She clasped his wrist; one hand could barely encircle it.

In the dim room, their breathing and voices seemed magnified hundreds of times.

Holding his chin, Jiang Jiujiu said, “Fu Jiajin, I’m willing. I’ve coveted your handsome face since I was little!”

She lowered herself and leaned close to his ear.

“Your body too.”

The taut string in Fu Jiajin’s mind snapped. For an instant, it was as though his ears were ringing.

Aside from the heightened sensations of their touch, he could no longer perceive anything around him.

Enticed and coaxed by one another, the two became hopelessly entangled.

This was the fate between them.

And the bond they had yearned for but never expected to obtain.

Fu Jiahui patted Fu Suiyu on the shoulder, then crouched down in front of her.

“Little Fish, remember this: you have to stay safe. Don’t confront her directly. It isn’t necessary.”

Then he pointed toward the bedroom.

“Go get some sleep. Your brother will be fine. With Dad’s example before us, we’re all devoted husbands!”

“And besides, this is an adult matter. A child like you shouldn’t meddle!”

“I…”

After thinking it over, everyone decided not to argue.

After all, what Fu Jiajin was doing at that moment was difficult to discuss aloud.

Fu Suiyu wiped the nonexistent sweat from her temple and hurried toward her own room.

Watching her retreating figure, Fu Jiahui could not help but laugh.

After checking the time, Fu Jiahui remained seated. He did not know when Lin Yu would wake, and he was worried that she might disturb the mood of the childhood sweethearts.

Besides, he feared that Lin Yu might act rashly out of revenge and make Fu Suiyu disappear again, just after she had returned.

They truly could not endure another blow like that.

Fu Jiahui reconsidered.

The false Lin Yu was so powerful.

For Fu Suiyu to return to their side, she must already have paid a terrible price.

They could not allow her to be hurt again.

Fu Jiahui sat there for the entire night without sleeping.

At dawn, Fu Suiyu’s biological clock awakened her early.

From a distance, she watched Fu Jiahui, surprise and emotion filling her heart.

She carefully approached him, but before her fingertips could touch him, her sensitive second brother turned around.

“Who is it?”

When he realized it was Fu Suiyu, Fu Jiahui relaxed.

“Why are you up so early?”

“I woke up naturally!”

Fu Suiyu pointed toward the room where Lin Yu was staying, and Fu Jiahui understood at once.

“She hasn’t come out. There hasn’t been a sound.”

Fu Suiyu murmured in acknowledgment, her eyes fixed on the tightly closed door.

For some reason, her right eyelid had been twitching nonstop all morning.

After giving herself plenty of encouragement, Fu Suiyu finally stepped inside.

She stared at Lin Yu, sleeping peacefully on the bed.

In a very soft voice, Fu Suiyu called, “Lin Yu?”

“Lin Yu, can you hear me?”

Fu Suiyu gradually raised her voice, but the person on the bed still showed no response.

She checked Lin Yu’s breathing. She was still alive.

Yet the more Fu Suiyu thought about it, the more something seemed wrong.

She turned toward the door and shouted,

“Brother, go call the family doctor!”
