Several more days passed in the blink of an eye, and the disturbance caused by Ye Zhetian had finally subsided.

Myriad Laws Peak.

Because Ye Zhetian had become the Great Dao Sect’s Young Sect Master, the rewards that followed included turning the entire Myriad Laws Peak over to Ji Qingyou for renovation. It had now taken on an entirely new appearance.

Most notably, there was an additional structure—the Black Emperor Hall, chosen by the little black dog himself.

Ever since he had acquired his own Black Emperor Hall, Ye Zhetian still could not speak, but an unmistakable air of delight radiated from him. He kept trotting in and out with various objects clamped in his jaws, busy with who knew what.

Myriad Laws Peak.

The Peak Lord’s Hall.

Several days had passed since the previous event, and for some unknown reason, the day on which his disciple Ji Qingyou’s extraordinary destiny was to be revealed had been delayed by many days.

But at last, it had arrived!

After blocking out his two disciples, Lin Jun sat in the Peak Lord’s Hall, anticipation shining in his eyes.

[Ding! The ten-day period has ended. Disciple Ji Qingyou’s destiny has been revealed as the Ziwei Savior Destiny! Rewarding host with the Profound... Beep, beep, beep... beep! Third-grade Dao treasure—the God-Demon Halberd.]

[Beep, beep! Reward has been delivered!]

Lin Jun froze. Had the system malfunctioned again, or had it been affected by something? Why did these inexplicable fluctuations keep appearing?

What puzzled him was that both of the items he had obtained this time were connected to gods and demons. Logically speaking, putting aside what sort of destiny the Ziwei Savior Destiny was, the reward should not have had anything to do with gods and demons either!

What exactly was going on?

Just as he was wondering about it, his hand suddenly sank beneath a heavy weight. A great halberd, its entire body flowing with scarlet, mysterious radiance, had appeared in his grasp.

In an instant, the floor of the hall beneath his feet shattered completely under its pressure.

This halberd was a Dao treasure, a level above ordinary magical artifacts. Its other powers aside, its sheer weight alone reached fifty thousand kilograms. If Lin Jun had not cultivated the Immortal God-Demon Body and possessed boundless strength, then even with Nascent Soul cultivation, he might well have been crushed beneath it.

But after cultivating the God-Demon Body, he possessed tremendous strength. Though the halberd weighed more than fifty thousand kilograms, it felt exactly right in his hands, stirring an irresistible urge to engage in battle.

Whoosh!

Holding the God-Demon Halberd, he gave it a gentle swing. At once, a streak of golden light shot forth.

Boom!

In an instant, the doors of the Peak Lord’s Hall burst apart. In the distance, on a cliff directly opposite the entrance, a halberd mark suddenly appeared, plunging so deep that its bottom could not be seen.

“What a weapon! With this halberd, wouldn’t killing the Heavenly Sword Venerable be effortless?”

Lin Jun’s heart swelled with joy. He had not even driven the halberd with spiritual power, yet it had already displayed such terrifying might. If he unleashed its full power, it might even allow him to contend with someone at the next major realm—Spirit Transformation!

Although he wanted to test the halberd’s true power thoroughly, this was Myriad Laws Peak, his own territory, and hardly an appropriate place for such an experiment. If he accidentally destroyed the peak, rebuilding it would require no small amount of effort.

“System, what does the Ziwei Savior Destiny mean?”

He suddenly remembered that the destiny the system had revealed for Ji Qingyou differed greatly from the female-emperor reincarnation he had imagined. Since it was a term he had never heard before, curiosity overcame him.

Yet the system gave no response to his question. It fell silent, as though it had vanished entirely.

“Fine. Keep acting aloof, then.” Lin Jun curled his lips and gave a helpless laugh.

He waved his hand, intending to put the God-Demon Halberd into his storage bag. But just as he moved, he suddenly sensed an invisible pull.

It was like an unseen thread wrapped around his body, straining to drag him toward some distant place.

Lin Jun’s brows furrowed, but he did not move an inch.

He released his divine sense, sweeping across the entirety of Myriad Laws Peak in an instant and tracing the source of that force.

A contemplative expression appeared on his face. The source of the pull was not elsewhere at all—it came from within Myriad Laws Peak, the very place where he had previously sensed something unusual.

When he had possessed no cultivation, he had been unable to detect anything there. Now, however, he could clearly sense that it was a hollow space. Numerous black-and-white stones surrounded it, and within lay some unknowable sleeping entity.

The reason Myriad Laws Peak contained so many god-demon stones should be connected to that place.

The auras of the two were remarkably similar in his perception.

“Could there actually be a god or demon hidden within Myriad Laws Peak?”

A sudden flash of inspiration crossed Lin Jun’s mind, startling even him.

He had read extensively, and he knew that gods and demons were beings born from the world of the Primordial Chaos millions of years ago, during the Chaos Era. They were incomparably powerful, even possessing the strength to control the world itself.

They should have gone extinct long ago. Otherwise, this world would never have become the domain of humanity.

However, the system’s reward of the Immortal God-Demon Body, together with the God-Demon Halberd he had just obtained, had left him uncertain as to whether the Primordial Chaos gods and demons were truly extinct. The mysterious pull emanating from within Myriad Laws Peak only intensified his urge to investigate.

“Forget it. I’ll take a look. With my current cultivation, protecting myself should be no problem. If anything seems amiss, I can simply retreat.”

After pondering it over, Lin Jun stopped resisting the pull. Following its direction, he entered the depths of Myriad Laws Peak.

“Hm?”

At the same time, Ji Qingyou, who had been cultivating in seclusion, suddenly awoke. She had come here in the first place because of the treasure hidden within Myriad Laws Peak, and now she had sensed a mysterious summons.

“Never mind. I’ll go and take a look first. If I truly obtain that opportunity, I can leave the final decision to Master afterward.”

After hesitating again and again, a glint flashed through her beautiful eyes. She rose and headed toward the direction from which the pull had come.

…

This place resembled a winding, twisting cavern. It was also the forbidden ground of Myriad Laws Peak, a place no one but the Peak Lord was permitted to enter.

Lin Jun had never come here while he was still an ordinary mortal.

This was his first time.

As he proceeded deeper into the twisting cavern, Lin Jun discovered that faint god-demon energy drifted through the air. On the stone walls to either side, there were unmistakably black-and-white stones embedded within them.

Lin Jun drew a deep breath, feeling as though he had stumbled upon a tremendous secret.

The farther inward he went, the denser the god-demon energy became. At the same time, the pull from ahead grew stronger and stronger.

He remained secretly on guard. In the next instant, he nearly cried out in shock.

Ahead, countless chains as thick as arms hung suspended in the darkness. Shackled by that web of chains was a gigantic corpse that seemed capable of supporting the heavens and the earth.

Its entire body was covered in black fur, its form as massive as a mountain. Chains had pierced through all four of its limbs, suspending it in midair by the shoulder blades.

Most terrifying of all, the giant corpse had no head—and the blood upon its wounds had yet to dry!

The force that had drawn Lin Jun here had come from within this god-demon corpse.

Even more inconceivable was the fact that although this astonishing giant had been dead for who knew how long, it still possessed a faint heartbeat.

Within the cavern, that heartbeat resounded like the tolling of a temple bell at dawn and dusk, pounding against the stone walls and creating a vast, reverberating tremor.

When he had been outside this underground space, he had not heard the sound at all. The instant he entered, however, the vibration struck him so violently that his head spun and his vision blurred.

Had Lin Jun still been an ordinary mortal, the shock would have caused his body to explode on the spot.

“What exactly is this thing? An ancient god or demon?”

Lin Jun stared at the giant that seemed to hold up heaven and earth, horror filling his eyes as records from the distant past surfaced in his mind.

He had never imagined that such a terrifying existence was hidden within Myriad Laws Peak.

What on earth was going on?

“Master, you’re here?”

At that moment, the astonished voice of his disciple, Ji Qingyou, came from behind.
