Chapter 30: First Sword Drawn—An Elite Demon Rabbit Slain in an Instant!

Night gave way to dawn.
Before eight in the morning, Lu Ming was awakened once more by the rhythmic groans coming from next door.
“Damn it, this early in the morning? I’ve really had enough!”
“Do you two have nothing else to do all day? Are you welded to that bed or something?”
The moment he finished speaking, music drifted over from the other room.
“Even in death, I’ll love you! If it isn’t intense enough, it isn’t satisfying…”
Caught between the two sides, Lu Ming finally reached the limit of his patience.
Damn it.
He had to move!
The moment he earned enough money, he would move out!
Linhai City might not be one of the country’s top-tier metropolises, but housing prices were still far from cheap.
Even the worst apartments started at a million, while better ones cost two or three million.
Lu Ming reached into his pocket and realized—
He still had to make money!
After washing up, he ate a basket of steamed dumplings at a breakfast shop downstairs before returning home and logging in.
[Ding! Honored ten-star aptitude account player—Netherworld, welcome back to the World of Sky Abyss!]
As the system notification he could hear ten thousand times without ever growing tired of rang in his ears, Lu Ming appeared in Moonfall Town.
Clearing the Novice Village in a single day was unprecedented.
Lu Ming made his way to the teleportation array in Moonfall Town and spent one silver coin to activate it.
Whoosh!
White light descended, and Lu Ming vanished from the teleportation array.
[Ding! Welcome to the Second Heaven—Revival. Your current location is the main urban district, Starshine City!]
In the blink of an eye, Lu Ming appeared inside a magnificent city.
As everyone knew, the World of Sky Abyss was divided according to the “Heavens.”
For example, the novice region where Lu Ming had previously been—the town of Moonfall—belonged to the First Heaven, Calamity.
Once players reached Level 10, they could enter the Second Heaven, Revival.
Starshine City corresponded to the three major novice regions of 1946, 1947, and 1948. Players emerging from those three novice areas and entering the Second Heaven would all converge in Starshine City.
In reality, these regions corresponded to the three cities of Jianghai Province: Seafaring City, Linhai City, and Cloud City.
“It’s a shame the Godslayer Team has kept its secrets too well. There’s nothing online about its exact forces or arrangements here in Starshine City.”
Just as Lu Ming was worrying over this, he suddenly received a message on WeChat.
When he opened it, he found that it had been sent by Qingyan, whom he had added as a friend in the Bloodstained Forbidden Zone dungeon.
“You should have reached the Second Heaven by now, right?”
“By the way, here’s a warning. The Godslayer Team’s branch here in Starshine City has roughly twenty thousand members. The person in charge is called Godslayer Moon, and her real-world location is Seafaring City!”
“She isn’t very high-level—only a Level 19 assassin—but her account aptitude is a rare four-star rating, one in a million! And supposedly, she’s the Godslayer captain’s younger sister. Her status is extraordinary, so be careful if you run into her!”
Food when you’re hungry, a pillow when you’re tired?
Just as Lu Ming was wondering where to begin, Qingyan had suddenly laid out the entire structure of the Godslayer Team before him.
“Looks like joining Sky Profound does have its advantages.”

With that thought, Lu Ming replied, “Thanks for the warning.”
“By the way, I’ll add you to a group!” Qingyan continued. “It’s the Sky Profound team group for Starshine City. If you run into trouble and need help, just call for people in the group!”
The next second, at Qingyan’s invitation, Lu Ming joined a chat group called [Sky Profound—Jianghai Province Group One].
Good heavens!
There were over seventeen thousand members!
The moment Lu Ming entered the group, messages flooded across the screen like gunfire from a minigun.
[Sky Profound—Rascal] (Level 15 Assassin): “Yo, a newcomer! Is it a bro or a babe?”
[Sky Profound—Rich Lady] (Level 18 Archer): “Judging by the avatar, it’s a handsome little brother! What level are you, little brother? Send us a picture and let Big Sis take you leveling. Let me have a look!”
[Sky Profound—Heaven-defier] (Level 11 Priest): “Rich Lady Sis, take me leveling! I’m a handsome little brother who just joined too.”
…
The atmosphere in Sky Profound seemed quite pleasant.
That did not stop Lu Ming from turning on Do Not Disturb.
He looked back at Qingyan’s message.
Godslayer Moon?
The younger sister of the Godslayer Team’s leader?
“According to what Ye Chen described, and what Ye Ling’er said in my previous life about the person whose power reached the heavens… the one who orchestrated Ye Ling’er’s betrayal of me is very likely the captain of the Godslayer Team!”
“And this Godslayer Moon is his biological younger sister…”
“Then I’ll start with her!”
A fierce killing intent burst from Lu Ming’s eyes.
“First, I’ll let you taste the pain of losing a close relative!”
“Then I’ll follow the trail and see who this filthy rat hiding in the shadows really is—and how much power he actually possesses!”
He could improve himself and seek revenge at the same time!
Against an enemy in the light while he remained hidden in the darkness, Lu Ming held an overwhelming advantage.
“For now, the priority is to reach Level 20 and visit the Black Market.”
The Black Market was unique to the Second Heaven of the World of Sky Abyss.
Rumor had it that as long as a player possessed enough gold, they could purchase any rare treasure in the Black Market—treasures unavailable through any other means.
The only requirement for entering the Black Market was reaching Level 20.
With that, Lu Ming left the city through Starshine City’s southern gate.
Unlike the conventional methods of leveling through quests and dungeons, Starshine City had a place even more suitable for gaining experience: the Haunted Magic Tower.
And that was precisely Lu Ming’s destination.
Shortly after leaving the city, Lu Ming received another WeChat message.
When he opened it, he found a money transfer from Lin Youwei.
The amount was three hundred.
Lu Ming asked, “Weren’t you out of money?”
A moment later, Lin Youwei replied, “Someone asked me to help kill a Level 12 elite monster just now. He said he’d pay me three hundred if I helped.”
“Brother Netherworld, don’t worry. I’ll pay back the five thousand yuan as soon as possible!”
Lu Ming casually closed WeChat and paid no further attention to Lin Youwei.
Just then, several male players around Levels 11 and 12 happened to walk past him.

A series of lewd comments drifted into Lu Ming’s ears.
“Old Chen said he hooked a young and beautiful girl for just three hundred yuan. Let’s hurry over and take a look!”
“Girls these days are really cheap! And so easy to deceive too. Tsk, tsk…”
“I love innocent little girls like that! Hahaha!”
Watching the backs of the lecherous men disappear into the distance, Lu Ming thought for a moment before opening WeChat and sending Lin Youwei a message.
“Don’t let them trick you.”
As he spoke, Lu Ming returned the three hundred yuan.
Then he continued toward the Haunted Magic Tower.
Not long afterward, while passing through a forest, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure among the trees.
She was fighting a Level 12 elite Demonized Rabbit.
Boom!
Boom!
Lin Youwei’s frail body looked as though a gust of wind might blow her over. Even swinging her staff seemed to take all her strength.
Spell after spell slammed into the Demonized Rabbit, producing pitiful bursts of damage in the range of thirty to forty points—nowhere near enough to injure it.
Meanwhile, four male players stood not far behind Lin Youwei, watching the show and mocking her.
“Little sister, if you can’t do it, just give up! It’s no big deal. We’ll follow the rules. Since you failed to complete the boosting job as required, you owe us ten times the refund. Just give us three thousand yuan.”
“Or, if you don’t have the money, there are other ways you can repay us…”
The men’s lecherous gazes wandered constantly over Lin Youwei’s body.
How could a Level 10 mage like Lin Youwei possibly solo a Level 12 elite monster?
After only a few exchanges, the elite Demonized Rabbit had reduced her to critical health.
Just as the Demonized Rabbit pressed forward step by step and Lin Youwei’s situation became perilous, a figure approached slowly from the side.
“Brother Netherworld…”
When Lin Youwei turned and saw Lu Ming, it was as though she had glimpsed a ray of dawn in the depths of a dark abyss. The despair on her face instantly gave way to hope.
At the same time, the players behind her burst into mocking laughter when they saw Lu Ming.
“Well, look at that. Kid, trying to play the hero and save the beauty?”
“Sure, go ahead! If you’re capable, kill that elite rabbit for the little girl. After all, we paid for the job.”
“Don’t look down on him. Maybe he really can do it.”
One of the male archers looked Lu Ming up and down before laughing.
“A Level 12 formation mage, a support class? If he can solo a Level 12 elite monster, then pigs will be able to fly—”
Slash!
Before the archer could finish, Lu Ming stepped into attack range. He reached behind his back and drew his sword.
In that instant, a blade of light as swift as lightning pierced straight through the Demonized Rabbit from fifty yards away.
The next second, a blood-red damage number rose above the monster’s head—
-4088!
The elite Demonized Rabbit’s 3,400 health points were emptied in an instant.
[Ding! You have slain the Level 12 elite monster, Demonized Rabbit. Experience +900!]
[Ding! Sword-drawing skill proficiency +1!]
