Gu Yan suddenly stood up with a sharp intake of breath, his deep eyes seeming to be covered in ice as they fixed unwaveringly on Meixiang. He quickly strode toward the backyard. Gu Chiyi was stunned for a moment, too shocked even to grab his cane, and hurriedly followed Gu Yan’s pace. After such a horrifying incident, everyone in the dining room abandoned their other concerns and rushed toward the backyard as well. No one noticed Gu Yi’s pale complexion. How could this happen? She had only meant to scare her, not to have her eaten. She bit her lip anxiously, wondering what to do—if it was discovered that she had opened the cage, the family would never forgive her. Gu Yi stumbled as she ran toward the backyard.
Just as Pei Xingyun and Pei Xingyi entered the main gate with their entourage, they saw Gu Yan staggering forward with a bloodless face, rushing toward the backyard followed by a crowd, all wearing confused expressions. What on earth was going on? Pei Xingyun stepped forward to stop a servant and asked, “What happened? Why is Gu Yan so frantic?” The servant, terrified, stammered, “Miss Gu Cha was eaten by that mutated giant golden python in the backyard!” The Pei family members were stunned. They hurriedly followed, running to the backyard.
Outside, chaos had erupted. Meanwhile, Tea Tea was nestled within the rock garden, gently stroking the golden python’s tail, which showed no sign of injury. She spoke earnestly, “The outside world is dangerous. A snake as big as you could easily be hunted and eaten by the villagers.” The golden python, whose tail no longer hurt, was happily flicking its tongue and rubbing its head against Tea Tea. Upon hearing such “harsh” words, the snake froze, its gem-like red eyes flashing with alarm. Tea Tea glanced around the rock garden, almost entirely occupied by the python, and shook her head with concern, “You’re so big; you could feed the whole village for three meals.”
“Hissssssss,” the snake responded. “I’ve never eaten snake myself, but during the famine, some families went up the mountain to catch snakes to eat. The village children said snake meat was their favorite food. I was scared because I’ve never seen a snake this big before. Your scales look like autumn leaves—so beautiful.” “But why did you run into this mountain?” “Hisssssssss,” the snake replied. “What do you mean by social anxiety? Sigh, I’m hungry too, but I just finished eating. I wonder if I’ll eat Dad into poverty.” “Hisssss.” “Let’s go out now. Sister Meixiang will worry if she can’t find me.” “Hisssss.”

“...” “Hiss?” The golden python peeked its head out and saw that Tea Tea had fallen into a deep sleep. The python curled its massive body gently around Tea Tea to shield her from the chill wind outside the rock garden.
