Gu Yan let out a sigh of relief, knowing that as long as she ate, it was fine. Gu Xiaxun had just reached the school gate when he heard Chacha calling out that she was hungry—there was no way he could let his little sister go hungry. He pulled out his phone and ordered a bunch of fried chicken and burgers, paying extra for express delivery, determined to make sure his sister ate her fill. Bursting through the door, he tossed his backpack onto the sofa and pounced on Chacha, clutching her tightly as he cried out, “Chacha, you’re finally awake! You made Third Brother wait so long.” Gu Yan was speechless. Chacha was overwhelmed with emotion; she hugged Third Brother back and puckered her lips as if to cry, but no tears came despite blinking furiously. She gave up and said softly, “Third Brother, I missed you so much.” Gu Xiaxun, sniffling and tearful, said to Chacha, “Chacha’s hungry. Don’t worry, your big brother ordered your favorite kids’ food, and it’ll be here soon!” Chacha finally managed to cry, “Did big brother cook the snake?” Gu Xiaxun was puzzled. Since when did kids start liking snake meat? Perhaps they really had to stew Huahua. Gu Yan stared at the siblings’ nonsensical conversation with a black line of exasperation and shook his head helplessly. Gu Xiaxun had successfully led Chacha astray. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. “Hello, this is Mr. ‘I’m the Most Popular Monkey on the Mountain,’ your delivery has arrived.” Gu Xiaxun was stunned—no one had told him that paying extra came with this kind of service. He sat stiffly on the bed, unwilling to move. Chacha looked confused at her flushed Third Brother but quickly understood and puffed up her cheeks, sending him energy. He must have a fever! “Mr. ‘I’m the Most Popular Monkey on the Mountain,’ your delivery has arrived!” Gu Xiaxun shivered; he was certain everyone on this floor had heard that. To show respect to esteemed customers, this order was personally delivered by the fried chicken shop staff, ensuring a warm and enthusiastic service. Gu Xiaxun turned to his father with pleading eyes: “Good dad, please…” Gu Yan silently muttered three times in his heart that this was his own blundering son. He opened the door quietly, took the food from the delivery person, faced the strange looks from the doctor and nurse with a cold expression, and slammed the door shut.

Without having to face the social death scene, Gu Xiaxun revived, happily took the fried chicken and burgers, and laid them out on the table. With his brother’s help, Chacha put on little gloves. She had never eaten this before and carefully tried a piece of chicken, her eyes sparkling as she looked at the spread of fried chicken and burgers. She declared, “This is exactly what kids love to eat!” Drool almost trickling down her chin, she grabbed a chicken drumstick in one hand and a burger in the other, eating heartily. Gu Yan settled back on the sofa, moved the blundering boy’s backpack aside, tidied up some documents, and watched Chacha eat messily with a happy expression, his eyes filled with resigned indulgence. He had asked the doctor; Chacha appeared physically fine, just slept deeply, and could eat and drink normally upon waking. Glancing sideways at Gu Xiaxun, who was busy taking photos of his sister on his phone, he said calmly, “I’ve taken care of Chacha’s discharge paperwork. You’ll take her home. As for that golden python called Huahua, handle it yourself.” Gu Xiaxun stood at attention obediently and nodded seriously. “Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll get the job done.” Chacha kept eating, too hungry to stop. She didn’t know why, but this time she felt much hungrier than before. Fortunately, fried chicken and burgers filled her up, and after eating most of it, she was satisfied. She pulled out a tissue and carefully wiped her mouth as Grandma had taught her to be a clean child. Hearing “golden python,” Chacha looked up and asked, “Dad, how did you find me?” Gu Yan reached out to wipe the ketchup from her nose calmly and said, “No matter where you are, Dad will find you.” Then he bent down to put on her shoes. “Chacha, Dad has some things to attend to. I’m leaving now. Behave yourself and go back with Third Brother.” His gentle demeanor made Gu Xiaxun take out his phone and snap several photos. Their father rarely looked like this. Chacha nodded obediently, hugged Gu Yan, and gave him a sweet kiss. “Thank you, Daddy~” Gu Yan stiffened all over. Meeting Chacha’s bright and warm gaze, a smile tugged at his lips. He stroked her soft hair and headed for the door. Such tender moments were rare in a house of three boys. It was a special feeling having a sweet little daughter. Behind him, Gu Xiaxun shouted excitedly, “Chacha! You have to kiss me too!” Gu Yan smiled quietly. Chacha, helpless against her childish Third Brother, gave him a kiss as well. Gu Xiaxun happily captured the moment. “Come on, Chacha. Brother will take you home.” … Chacha sat in a child’s seat, sipping milk from her phone, contentedly squinting her eyes. “Chacha, what did Huahua do to you?” “Huahua?” Chacha tilted her head in confusion. “The golden python,” Gu Xiaxun explained. Huahua was a golden python he bought from someone using all his pocket money. It was the biggest and most beautiful golden python in the world. He loved it dearly. Huahua was very obedient but hated being caged, so he kept it in the enclosed backyard.

Unfortunately, both his father and older brothers strongly disapproved. “Huahua is very good; it didn’t do anything to me. I like Huahua.” Gu Xiaxun’s eyes filled with tears. He knew someone would like Huahua. Clearing his throat, he said seriously, “Huahua is so cute. Chacha, don’t you want to see it every day?” “Sure~” “Woohoo~” Gu Xiaxun was ecstatic. With Chacha around, Dad would agree. The eldest brother had been busy with an exhibition in Paris recently, and the second brother was often away. By the time they returned, it would be too late. Chacha looked at her animated Third Brother, puzzled. She took a big sip of milk. Wasn’t she supposed to have cured his fever? She didn’t know she was being quietly manipulated by her brother; she only knew she could understand what Huahua was saying. In Chacha’s world, they were already good friends. “Young Master, there’s a van following us.” Gu Xiaxun furrowed his brow and glanced in the rearview mirror. Sure enough, a van was tailing them closely. “Lose them.” After saying this, he checked Chacha’s seat belt, shielded her with his hand, and signaled the driver to speed up. After driving for a while, the driver frowned. “Young Master, the driver behind is quite skilled. We can’t shake him off for now.” “If we can’t lose him, let him follow. Uncle Wang, drive out to the countryside.” Gu Xiaxun reached into a hidden compartment inside the car, pulled out a walkie-talkie, and said coldly, “When there are no other cars, stop him.” “Received!” Four black cars gradually closed in around the Cayenne carrying Gu Xiaxun and Chacha, subtly encircling the van in the middle. Upon reaching the countryside, Gu Xiaxun smiled brightly at Chacha. “Chacha, let’s play a game. Cover your ears and watch my lips. Guess what I’m saying.” Chacha sensed something different but obediently covered her ears and stared at her brother’s mouth. Gu Xiaxun rubbed Chacha’s head, glanced at the rearview mirror, picked up the walkie-talkie, and narrowed his eyes. “Hit him, kid!” Four cars simultaneously rammed the van from four directions. With a loud bang, the people inside the van had nowhere to escape. Chacha looked dazedly at the excited Gu Xiaxun, eyes wide, trying hard to read his lips. It seemed her brother said: “Damn them?”
