Volume 1, Chapter 31: New Friends
The gentle morning light could not penetrate the thick curtains, yet the birds chirping outside signaled the arrival of a new day. Cha Cha had a very regular internal clock, and at seven-thirty in the morning, she woke up in a daze. The little dumpling rubbed her eyes, lying on the bed in a sleepy stupor, her mind a blank. Who was she? Where was she? What was she supposed to do?
Thinking of how she would eventually need him less and less, and that she would find someone who loved her to live a happy life, he felt both relieved and reluctant, his heart filled with a complex mix of emotions. When Puyang Muxi saw Lu Weiqi like this, she was about to walk toward him, only to see him laughing as he ran off into the distance. Hearing Yue Mingyan dismiss the high and mighty Yellow Emperor as nothing more than an "old geezer," everyone was utterly dumbfounded. Yet, upon reflection, it was true; what era did that Yellow Emperor live in, and what era was it now?
Coming into view was a pale blue wallpaper on the ceiling, as if one were submerged in the ocean. The surrounding environment was elegant and refined, revealing that the room's owner must possess a calm and gentle temperament. His knack for arriving exactly at mealtime had not faded; Su Lingyu smiled and had someone invite him over, failing to notice the stiff expressions on He Qin and Tian Zhu's faces. Ding Cong felt that Xiao Diruan’s actions were overly cautious, but caution was always better than recklessness, so he hurriedly said "Yes" and immediately set off to carry out the order.
"What?" Old Madam Chen turned her head blankly, looking at Jing Tian with an expression that carried a hint of pleading, as if begging Jing Tian to tell her that none of this was real.
With hands slick with sweat, he maneuvered the mecha to look left, but before he could grasp the situation, his vision was blocked by a blinding glare. Ju Qiang expressed that he still didn't quite understand, but as long as the boss understood, that was enough; he was responsible for the labor, not the thinking. Yu Lei’s reputation—the identity of being the reincarnation of Gongsun Xuanyuan—was well-regarded even in Japan, and now, dossiers regarding him sat on the desks of every major power. He might not have been a "good" man, but for the average person, the things he did might well be considered good deeds.
Sean drew his long spear and thrust it forward, tearing a massive gash in Godzilla’s body. Through the opening, he saw the familiar parasites emerge. It was a miserable situation for the other world powers; they deliberated and discussed, but there was simply no suitable solution, as no one could make sense of the current situation. Everything began with those who collected protection money; if not for their arrival, perhaps Sean would not have acted, and he would not have drawn anyone’s attention.
"If you sign those documents and distribute them, no one will carry them out. You are just hindering everyone else's work, do you understand?" he chided her gently.
"His jugular vein has been severed, didn't you see? I am trying to stop the bleeding!" Facing the suspicious looks from those around him—and even the questioning gazes of the child’s parents—Adan hurriedly explained.
This fully demonstrated what it meant when the tides turned and karma came full circle: look up and see, for heaven spares no one. Frigga would die—the Queen of Asgard, Thor's mother, would die! It was just a pity that Adan hadn't had the chance to warn Thor yet. He immediately turned to his troops and began issuing various pre-battle reconnaissance orders.
The five-colored spirit orbs—Ice, Wind, Darkness, Thunder, and Light—were pearls formed from high-level, sublimated spiritual elements, even more advanced than the common elemental attributes of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth; their power was enough to overturn the heavens and the earth. After all, the enemy was no fool; if it hadn't been a massive army entering the gorge, they likely wouldn't have activated the kill formation, nor would they have fired and thrown their weapons about until they were exhausted.
On second thought, Zhu Bao'er felt that even if her sister found out, what of it? Surely she wouldn't strike out at her own sister for the sake of a fiancé she had only just met?
