"The speed of the patient's physical recovery is simply unheard of!"

Holding the test results, the doctor's eyes widened in disbelief. "The internal organs damaged by the gas have largely recovered, but this muscle atrophy..."

Li Xiulan was both surprised and delighted. "Really?"

"Look right here."

Pointing at the scans, the doctor explained, "The report shows that the patient's muscle recovery is exceptional, and function can be restored by roughly eighty percent."

"At the current rate, in half a month at most, she will be able to completely ditch the wheelchair and run and jump just like a normal person!"

"That's wonderful!"

Li Xiulan and Ye Yun felt tears welling up in their eyes.

Xu Mi was pleasantly surprised as well.

Accompanied by Lin Chen, she had now completely abandoned any thoughts of self-harm.

"As for the massages, you've been doing a fantastic job. Judging by the current state, your wife's body shows no abnormalities whatsoever. Your technique is correct, so make sure you keep it up."

With that, the doctor looked at Xu Mi. "I've seen plenty of paralyzed patients, but it's rare to see a husband who persists with daily massages to aid recovery like yours does."

"You've married a good man!"

Xu Mi's pretty face flushed crimson. She cast a shy, bashful glance at Lin Chen, then quickly lowered her gaze, speaking with heartfelt gratitude. "He treats me wonderfully. Every single night when he gives me a massage, he spends a full half hour on it."

The doctor nodded. "Actually, this is only what a husband should do. Husband and wife—isn't a marriage all about supporting one another?"

Xu Mi's blush deepened even further.

Li Xiulan and Ye Yun exchanged a glance, each seeing a lingering sense of reassurance in the other's eyes.

Previously, they had only witnessed Lin Chen's outward display of affection, but now they knew that behind closed doors, Lin Chen truly took meticulous care of Xu Mi as well.

At that moment, they were completely at ease.

Lin Chen also let out a breath of relief, before pulling out his phone once more to pepper the doctor with questions, diligently noting down every single precaution.

Sitting nearby, Xu Mi gazed at Lin Chen with infinite sweetness, the happiness in her eyes threatening to spill over.

Just then, Ye Yun quietly tugged at her sleeve, signaling her to follow her outside.

Though puzzled, Xu Mi didn't ask questions and simply said, "Lin Chen, I'm going to the restroom."

"Okay."

Lin Chen nodded, then turned to Ye Yun. "Cousin, could you please accompany Sugar? She took a tumble earlier, and I'm worried she might feel uncomfortable in the restroom and have no one around to look after her."

Ye Yun chuckled. "You, you're practically ready to carry Sugar around in your pocket."

Lin Chen openly admitted, "If I could, I really would carry her in my pocket."

Such a precious wife—if he could keep her in his sight every single second, that would naturally be the best thing in the world!

Blushing, Xu Mi stomped her foot and protested, "Lin Chen, what kind of nonsense are you spouting!"

With a teasing grin, Ye Yun pulled her out of the room.

Li Xiulan followed them out as well.

The three of them walked out into the hallway.

Only then did Xu Mi ask, "Cousin, is something the matter?"

"There is something I want to ask you," Ye Yun said with a serious expression. "Sugar, after spending all this time together, what do you think of Lin Chen?"

Xu Mi blushed, twisting the hem of her shirt as she replied softly, "He's very good."

"Have you made up your mind? Is it going to be him?"

Xu Mi didn't answer aloud, but nodded imperceptibly.

She had once been a staunch believer in lifelong singlehood, which was why she was still unmarried as she approached forty.

Yet all of this had changed the moment she met Lin Chen.

Even a stone could be warmed eventually, let alone a human heart.

Xu Mi felt that if it was Lin Chen, she was willing to entrust her entire self to him.

Ye Yun's expression grew even more solemn. "Sugar, Aunt and I can both see that Lin Chen is truly sincere toward you."

"But life isn't a game of playing house. Since you've chosen him, you need to consider the future."

With that, she produced a document folder.

"What is this?"

Xu Mi was momentarily stunned.

Ye Yun explained, "I had someone look into Lin Chen. His family background isn't destitute, but it's certainly not wealthy either..."

Before she could finish, she was interrupted.

Xu Mi smiled coyly. "I already know what his family is like; there's no need to investigate."

After all, she and Lin Chen's mother had once been the best of friends!

Forget Lin Chen's financial background; she even knew his parents and relatives quite well.

Where was the need for any investigation?

Ye Yun blinked in surprise, her brow furrowing. "Alright, leaving his family background aside, when do you plan to tell Lin Chen the truth about yourself, and how do you intend to break it to him?"

Mitang Bio-Tech was a company built entirely by Xu Mi's own hands.

Over the past decade or more, the company had expanded significantly and enjoyed a respectable reputation within the industry.

In other words, Xu Mi was an unalloyed, wealthy female CEO.

And there was an old saying that had held true since ancient times: wealth can sway human hearts.

Lin Chen treated Xu Mi well now, but there was no guarantee that once he learned of her true identity, other thoughts might not arise.

The two cousins burst into laughter together.
