Chapter Seven: Encountering Poachers? As a Streamer, I Take on Six at Once!
"Of course there is a problem! Can you feed a half-month-old dog the same food as a one-year-old dog? It’s growing! We—no, they—fluffy ones grow up very fast!"
Being black and white herself, Shen Miao had more than a little affinity for Border Collies. She quickly imagined herself in the dog's position, thinking a panda would have gone insane under such circumstances. Immediately, she looked at the wide-eyed dog opposite her with sympathy and said, "Quick, feed him another handful!"
"Another handful!"
After repeating this "one handful at a time" process eight or nine times, until a whole bag of dog food had been consumed, the Border Collie named Marshal finally had his first full meal in his entire dog life.
"Wooo, is this what it feels like to be full? Wooo, I’ve finally met my foster mother today, woof!"
With a full belly, the dog was teary-eyed with gratitude. He was no longer guarding his food, nor was he irritable or biting. He was just a very well-behaved dog. Seeing this, Shen Miao sighed. "Don't worry, I've already told your owner. From now on, she will make sure you are well-fed."
*Is that really true, woof?*
Hearing this, Marshal was so moved that he knelt down on his front legs and kowtowed three times toward the phone screen, shouting, "A benefactor! My foster mother, woof!"
Seeing the dog behave this way, Jia Yurong finally realized that she had been absurdly strict in the past and promised that she would definitely keep the dog well-fed from now on. "It was my mistake to misunderstand the streamer before."
Not expecting this streamer to actually have some real skills, Jia Yurong was thoroughly convinced. She ended the livestream connection and sent a tip of one thousand steamed buns to Shen Miao.
Now, she could finally take Xiao Guai out for a proper meal!
The livestream chat was going wild with laughter, everyone feeling pity for poor Marshal. Just as Shen Miao was about to resume selling ginseng, she suddenly heard two loud, booming noises in the distance. Instantly, birds in the forest took flight in a panic, scattering everywhere.
Soon after, a rustling sound echoed through the woods. An adult black bear ran past Shen Miao in terror, followed by a group of sika deer, hoofing it as fast as they could to escape.
Shen Miao frowned, listening intently to the panicked "animal language." The audience in the livestream was stunned.
What was going on? A Northeastern version of the Great Migration of the African savanna? And that bear—why was it running so fast without even glancing at the streamer?
[This is ridiculous! This is way beyond ridiculous! This has to be special effects, right? Or AI? I thought at least the streamer's background was real, but is the whole thing just an animation?]
[The problem is, this animation is absurd. Why are the deer chasing the bear? And why isn't the bear chasing the streamer?]
[Those two loud bangs scared the life out of me. What was that sound? Is there an earthquake, and the animals are fleeing for their lives?]
"No, it's poachers! Those two sounds must have been gunshots."
Shen Miao recalled what Qin Che had told her that afternoon. As an ancient divine beast, a panda, she certainly could not tolerate these two-legged poachers—it was unbearable for a bear!
Shen Miao let out a cold snort. "Damn two-legged poachers! I’m going to end the stream and go catch the criminals. Everyone, remember to place your orders!"
[Streamer, wait! Don't end it yet. Just leave it on so we can watch, we’ll tip you!]
[Exactly! You’ve acted this far, why not keep going? Don't tell me the special effects for the rest haven't been made yet?]
[Oh, look at you, going off to catch poachers. You’re so impressive, streamer. What’s the matter? Turn it on and let us see!]
Since they requested it, Shen Miao nodded her round panda head seriously. "Fine, I’ll hang the phone around my neck so you can watch. Just remember to tip."
She wouldn't be able to look at the camera while fighting, which might make the viewers dizzy, but since they insisted on watching, she would leave it on.
Just then, another gunshot rang out. Shen Miao didn't hesitate, leaping onto the back of the Northeast tiger, Xiao Guai, and tapping its rump. "Quick, quick! Run!"
Upon hearing this, the tiger let out a whimper of terror, its ears flattening against its head. "No, no! That’s a gun! They have the 'truth' in their hands! You’re sending a tiger to its death! No! This tiger won't do it!"
Shen Miao grabbed the tiger's ear and threatened, "I know you're a coward, terrified, aren't you? Either you get slapped to death by me right now, or you take me to the scene—you choose!"
Recalling the pain of being beaten by Shen Miao earlier, Xiao Guai finally surrendered. With a pitiful whine, the tiger bolted, sprinting through the forest and crossing several mountain ridges in a flash, racing toward the source of the sound.
The mountain forest was vast and rugged, and the tiger moved at high speed. The camera jolted and spun, making the viewers in the livestream feel dizzy and nauseous.
[Ugh, guys, I'm going to be sick. What is happening? Streamer, say something!]
[This first-person perspective is terrifying! It’s like a real jungle expedition!]
The comments flooded in, but Shen Miao couldn't care less. She and Xiao Guai had already circled behind the group, hiding in a thicket about a dozen meters away.
There were six of them in total, each holding a hunting rifle. Several deer already lay dead on the ground around them. Currently, they were attacking a black bear that was fleeing for its life.
Despite the black bear weighing five or six hundred pounds and looking formidable, it was helpless against the "truth" of hunting rifles. It could only roar in agony as it was chased, eventually leaping onto a massive tree and clinging to the trunk, shivering.
[Holy crap, black bears can climb trees?]
[The bear looks like such a poor little thing now! But I just learned that humans shouldn't climb trees when facing a bear! Who told me bears couldn't climb trees? This is life-or-death!]
[Nonsense, would you stay on the ground if you were facing a hunting rifle? That’s not a handgun! The recoil of those rifles is insane, almost like a Barrett! Any carbon-based life form would be finished! The black bear seems to be injured already, so pitiful. Streamer, go save it! But why is the camera shaking so much? Is the streamer scared?]
Shen Miao wasn't scared, but Xiao Guai was. A full-grown Northeast tiger was shaking like a kitten in the face of six hunting rifles.
"You useless thing!" Shen Miao whispered, keeping her voice low. "Why are you such a coward? There are only six of them, but there are two of us!"
"Awoo, no! You're wrong, there’s actually only you... the tiger doesn't count!"
Xiao Guai shrank back, its ears flattened. If Shen Miao hadn't been gripping the scruff of its neck, it would have already run ten thousand miles away.
Shen Miao: ...Never mind, what could you expect from a cat-like pet?
I'll have to handle this myself!
However, Shen Miao didn't rush in blindly. She wore a serious expression, her panda brow furrowed in deep thought. How could she take these six men down without scaring the viewers? It seemed quite challenging.
While Shen Miao was thinking, the men on the other side had already aimed at the black bear in the tree. Faced with such a bloody scene, they were still joking around.
"Good harvest today. This black bear skin should sell for a lot. Remember to peel it cleanly, don't ruin it."
"Don't kill it completely yet, take the gallbladder out first. A wild one like this has a lot! A customer also wants the bear's eyes to make beads. Try to dig those out intact too."
Faced with the wounded, cornered black bear, the poachers were already discussing how to divide every part of its body.
[Streamer, aren't you very capable? Go on, do something! This is too much! Save those animals!]
[Is the person above crazy? They have guns! Guns, okay? Are you trying to get the streamer killed? Streamer, where are you? Tell us, we'll help you call the police!]
[Why are you so anxious? It’s clearly a script. The special effects are just very realistic, just watch for the entertainment. Anyway, I don’t believe it’s real, unless the streamer can prove it by taking on six people!]
