Chapter 26: So What If I Hit You?

Slap!

A-San struck Su Mei across the face again, his voice sharp with reprimand: "Shut your mouth! Who do you think you are? Is the Mister someone you are fit to gossip about?"

The guard captain’s imposing aura turned Su Mei’s face ashen, and she began to tremble uncontrollably.

Seeing A-San strike Su Mei, Xu Quan was incensed. He flew into a rage: "A-San, even if you are General Xiao's guard captain, you are nothing but a servant! I am the eldest young master of the distinguished Xu family. How dare you hit me and my woman because of him? I will tell my father and report you to General Xiao—I'll make sure you suffer for this!"

A-San arched a brow and barked back: "Xu Quan, let me make this clear: if you dare to show disrespect to the Mister, even your father won't be able to protect you!"

"How dare you!" Xu Quan was incensed by these words. He clamored, "My father is the head of the Yunzhou Xu clan! And him? He’s a man with no status and no standing. Do you really think my father couldn't protect me in front of him? Are you talking nonsense?"

Just then, a member of the Su family rushed over to the scene and addressed Su Mei and Xu Quan: "Miss, Young Master-in-law, the Matriarch wants you both in the main hall. General Xiao’s people have just arrived to pass on the word that he is about to grant the partnership project to the Su family of Yunzhou!"

Hearing this, Xu Quan became even more arrogant: "Did you hear that? General Xiao has already sent word that he is giving the partnership to the Su family. Do you know what this means? It means my father’s relationship with General Xiao is extraordinary!"

Without waiting for A-San to respond, Xu Quan glared at Ye Fan, who was standing nearby, and provocatively shouted: "Ye Fan, did you hear that? So what if you bribed him? He’s just a lowly guard captain—can he flip the sky? Just you wait. I’m going to the hall now to collect the project for the Su family, and then I’ll report you to General Xiao. With that, Xu Quan took Su Mei and stormed off toward the main hall.

A-San turned to Ye Fan, bowed, and said, "Mister, I will go find General Xiao now and explain the whole situation to him."

Ye Fan nodded slightly. After watching A-San return to the VIP room, he also rose and headed to the hall to find Su Xue.

In the hall, once Su Mei and Xu Quan arrived, the entire Su family crowded around Su Xue. After Su Mei recounted being slapped by Ye Fan in the hallway, the Su family began to berate Su Xue with indignation.

"Su Xue, look at this! What kind of people are you associating with? He’s nothing but a disaster!"

"Exactly! That Ye Fan is truly audacious. How dare he lay hands on Young Master Xu and Su Mei on Xu family property? He’s courting death!"

"That's right. Su Xue, you must immediately apologize to Su Mei and Young Master Xu on that Ye Fan’s behalf. Otherwise, we will treat you exactly the way he treated them!"

Before Su Xue could reply, a stern voice cut through the air from behind them: "Let’s see who dares to touch Su Xue."

As the crowd turned in surprise, Ye Fan, who had come from the hallway, arrived and stood beside Su Xue. When the guests realized who had arrived, they began to flush with anger and started hurling insults.

Xu Quan, who had been slapped by Ye Fan earlier, looked at him with utter disdain: "I wondered what kind of big shot had arrived. It turns out to be you, you ignorant fool?"

Slap!

As soon as the words left Xu Quan's mouth, a deafening slap echoed through the room.

The sound of the strike brought the heated, noisy room to a deathly, absolute silence. The onlookers were stunned; none of them expected that Ye Fan would dare to strike Xu Quan again.

After exchanging bewildered glances, they began to clamor once more: "He’s at death’s door and he still dares to hit Young Master Xu? He’s completely mad!"

"That’s right, he actually dared to hit Young Master Xu—he’s in huge trouble now!"

"Indeed, with Young Master Xu's current status and influence, he can destroy him with a mere flick of his wrist!"

Amidst the jeering, a pale and trembling Xu Quan pointed at Ye Fan and roared: "Ye Fan, you ignorant piece of trash, you dare hit me again? My father is arriving any second! When he gets here, I will make sure you die without a burial place!"

Before Xu Quan could recover, Ye Fan struck him again, sending blood spitting from his mouth. His voice and gaze were ice-cold: "Forget your father, Xu Fei. You dare use your power to bully others in front of me? Even if the heavens themselves descended, no one could save you now!"

Before the trembling Xu Quan could respond to Ye Fan’s threat, a stern voice boomed from outside the crowd: "Such arrogance! To dare disregard me? I want to see exactly what kind of holy being you are!"

As the crowd turned to see the newcomer, they gasped: "It’s the head of the Xu family!"

Xu Quan, seeing his father had arrived, regained his bravado and shouted at Ye Fan: "You ignorant fool, did you hear that? My father is here! You dare hit me and oppose the Xu family? Why don't you look in a mirror and see what a pathetic wretch you are? Your disaster is at hand!"

After saying this, he hurried to his father’s side, pointing at Ye Fan: "Father, look! It’s this arrogant piece of trash. He hit me, insulted me, and just now, he even showed total disrespect to you. You cannot let him off!"

Xu Fei nodded silently. He raised his head and looked in the direction Xu Quan was pointing. When he saw that the man was Ye Fan, his face paled in shock. He muttered to himself: "It's him... wasn't the entire Ye family wiped out? And wasn't this Ye Fan left in a vegetative state? How could he be awake?"

Ye Fan raised an eyebrow and looked at Xu Fei: "Patriarch Xu, you recognize me? Does my presence disappoint you?"

Xu Fei maintained a grave expression: "I don't know what you mean. But I do know that you hit my son on Xu family property, and I will never let you off for that!"

"Never let me off?" Ye Fan’s eyes flashed as he replied, word for word: "Then tell me, Patriarch Xu, how exactly do you intend to make me pay?"

Hearing this, Xu Quan exploded with rage: "Ye Fan, you ignorant dog! How dare you speak to my father like that? A man of his status and standing is not someone a lowly peasant like you can desecrate!"
