One by one, the students present seemed to awaken from a daze. Looking at this young professor, their first impression was that she was not someone to be trifled with.

Team Leader Luo nodded. "I’ll call the police right away."

Fu’s mother and Fu Hongxia were stunned. The middle-aged woman reacted first, hurriedly trying to stop him. "Don’t call the police! What good would that do? Do they really dare to arrest me? Our family has high-ranking officials in the capital."

"Two students, please stop them. Team Leader Luo, I’ll trouble you," Zhong Yuxiu said calmly. The students who had come to help, seeing her confidence, all restrained their fear and did their best to block the way, allowing Team Leader Luo to get away smoothly.

Fu’s mother, seeing them leave, finally panicked and struggled in the crowd. Fortunately, those restraining her were all female students.

"Come back, come back! You’re not allowed to go."

"Mom, what do we do?" Fu Hongxia tightly grasped her mother’s arm; the veins on the back of her hand bulged, showing they were far from fearless.

"Play it cool!" her mother snapped angrily, disregarding the daughter she usually doted on; glaring at Zhong Yuxiu with annoyance yet afraid to lose control, she said, "Let’s leave first. I don’t believe the police would dare come to our home to arrest us."

"Fine."

Mother and daughter joined hands and tried to leave. Seeing this, the female students stepped in their direction to block their path. Facing the overwhelming crowd, the two women, though scared, had nowhere to go.

"What’s the rush? You haven’t even resolved the matter of the female student you sent to the hospital. You’ve slandered my reputation and caused a disturbance at school with no explanation," Zhong Yuxiu said evenly, then turned to a nearby student. "Classmate, are you free right now?"

"No, no, Professor Zhong, you just say what you need," the male student beside her blushed when addressed by the young, beautiful professor.

Zhong Yuxiu smiled slightly. "Please go fetch Principal Guo. This matter isn’t something I can decide alone. They injured a classmate on their very first day; the school authorities must intervene."

"Understood, understood. I’m going now." The male student dashed off, soon disappearing down the hallway.

Zhong Yuxiu waited about ten minutes before Principal Guo arrived, accompanied by Professors Ding, Zheng, and several others. Don’t ask why so many came—when a serious incident happens at school and a student ends up in the hospital, it’s only natural to bring more people to maintain order.

The others thought so, but Zhong Yuxiu did not; she believed she alone could handle the situation.

"Principal Guo, Professors Zheng, Ding, Tian, Fang, and Ning, you’re here," Zhong Yuxiu greeted them.

"What’s going on?" Principal Guo glanced at Zhong Yuxiu, then shifted her gaze to the mother and daughter being blocked.

"Principal Guo, these two caused a fight over a dorm bed and ended up injuring someone," Zhong Yuxiu paused before continuing, "They even insinuated that I gained my professorship through some shady dealings. I intend to sue them for defamation and the emotional distress they have caused me."

"Oh, and they claim to have powerful officials in their family, including a relative in the education bureau. They even threatened me before—I was really scared!" Professor Ding said, placing a hand under his chin and clearing his throat.

That sounded very odd, especially the last part. His lively eyes glinted coldly. Was that really fear?

Principal Guo was speechless. How was she supposed to play this scene?

"Principal Guo, they slandered you and hurt someone. They should be sent directly to the police station. They injured someone on their first day for a trivial matter. Send them for a psychological evaluation. If they’re mentally ill, hospitalize them; if not, leave it to the police to decide," Professor Tian said angrily.

Professor Fang Ning frowned deeply, clearly disgusted with the two. "We cannot allow precedents of violence on campus. Huada University is a place of learning, not a place for students to cause trouble."

"Outrageous."

Those professors who were not good with words could only utter that much.

Principal Guo nodded. "Then send them to the police."

"I’ve already had someone call the police. They were causing a scene and throwing a tantrum before, so I had them call. The police should be here soon," Zhong Yuxiu said, shrugging and smiling broadly before Principal Guo and the other professors. "By the way, these mother and daughter have terrible manners, are arrogant, and clearly lack intelligence. Do you really think they belong at Huada? Our university is one of the top institutions in the country. Everyone admitted here is smart, aren’t they?"

"And yet, Fu Hongxia and her mother acted like hooligans, injuring someone and issuing threats. Do they really not know their place? Or are they simply not smart enough?"

Really—only a fool would resort to violence to solve problems. It’s impossible not to suspect them.

As soon as Zhong Yuxiu finished speaking, Fu Hongxia and her mother’s faces changed dramatically. Though Principal Guo and Professors Ding and the others were older and their eyesight dim, they were not fools. Zhong’s words had sparked their doubts.

"I understand," Principal Guo nodded and said to the others, "Have two students stay to help here. Everyone else can disperse. Those who need to register, register; those who need to be received, receive them. Don’t all gather here. Get back to your tasks."

The students gradually dispersed in small groups, leaving two tall and sturdy female students behind to block the mother and daughter without issue.

"Are you the principal?" Fu’s mother forced herself to appear unafraid.

"Yes, I am the head of the Physics Department," Principal Guo answered evenly. "I understand what happened. Do you have anything to say?"

Fu’s mother retorted, "It’s an honor for Hongxia to have her bed. We even paid for it—ten yuan for a bed. That’s not a small amount. Who knew she’d still refuse? She’s greedy. What’s wrong with giving her a lesson?"

"By your logic, anything one desires could be forcibly taken. Is there no law in this world?" Principal Guo’s tone was cold and impatient.

"Is that the same? That wretched girl clearly has no money. She dresses in rags. We’re willing to pay; she benefits too. Why should she be so arrogant?" Fu’s mother sneered, her squinted eyes nearly hidden by her plump face, dripping with contempt. "A poor wretch—what right does she have to be high and mighty?"

Principal Guo was about to argue further, but Zhong Yuxiu silently shook her head and had to speak up. "Principal, there’s no reasoning with them. From the moment they fought over the bed, they’ve never thought their actions or attitudes were wrong. Arguing is useless. Let them wait. The police will take them away."

Let the court decide the verdict.

There is a certain kind of person in this world—stubborn as a dead duck. They never admit fault but instead dig in even deeper, twisting logic after logic. Trying to reason with them is a waste of breath.
