Chapter Fifty-One: Turn Him Into a Vegetative State!
The entire afternoon passed. Lord Rabbit tried every possible method, yet he could not find a trace of Ye Wushang. In desperation, he returned to the hospital once more, and after consulting the doctors in detail, he learned that only chemotherapy and dialysis could be used for treatment. The costs were by no means simple; to prolong life, he might even need to employ advanced equipment from abroad. Although he had considerable assets, most were tied up in real estate and difficult to liquidate quickly. His only option was to cash them out through this investment company.
Alas, at this point, he deeply regretted his actions. If only he had known about his cancer earlier—when Ye Wushang first revealed his diagnosis, he should have immediately apologized. But now, Ye Wushang had disappeared, and even if he found him, he didn’t know if the man would be willing to treat him.
“What?”
“You… you’re seriously ill?” Sun Chuanzi was shocked. Just as he was about to ask further, the receptionist’s voice echoed from the lobby: “Sir, you can’t go in,” she said. “You don’t have an appointment; you need to queue and get permission first.” “Why are you pushing people? If you keep this up, I’ll call the police.”
Hearing this, the two exchanged bewildered glances. Then, with a bang, a security guard who came to block the way was struck and sent flying. The door was kicked open, and a familiar figure burst in!
“Ye Wushang?”
Seeing Ye Wushang, completely unharmed, Sun Chuanzi was dumbfounded and asked incredulously, “You… how are you here?”
Before his call with Zhao Xiue, Sun Chuanzi had sent a text to Zhang Blackhair to inquire about the situation. Years ago, Zhang Blackhair was a down-and-out thug. Sun Chuanzi had invited him to meals, given him money, and helped him climb from the bottom to become a hall leader—all so that one day, he could be useful.
This time, he was indeed needed. Zhang Blackhair had patted his chest and promised to deliver Ye Wushang before seven o’clock in the evening. Now, it was seven, and Ye Wushang had arrived—but not in the state Sun Chuanzi had imagined: not battered, not vomiting blood, but entirely unscathed. The look in Ye Wushang’s fierce eyes seemed to threaten to devour him alive.
“You said you wanted to settle accounts with me, didn’t you?”
“Good. I’ll settle all old and new scores with you now!”
As he finished, Ye Wushang’s gaze turned sharp. He moved with lightning speed, rushing forward. Sun Chuanzi, who lacked even the strength to bind a chicken and had long ruined his health with wine and women, couldn’t dodge. Ye Wushang gripped his throat, tripped him, and threw him to the ground.
At the same time, Ye Wushang pressed his elbow to Sun Chuanzi’s chest, twisted hard, and with a sickening sound, Sun Chuanzi spat blood, his internal organs damaged.
“Stop! Stop!”
Seeing Ye Wushang truly intent on harm, Sun Chuanzi was terrified. Even as he struggled to breathe and endured agonizing pain, his strong will to survive made him protest, “I am the young master of the Sun family, the heir to the family head! If you dare kill me, the Sun family won’t spare you…”
“Smack!”
Ye Wushang slapped him, coldly rebuking, “Don’t mention your Sun family. Even if you were from a top-tier family or a financial group, I wouldn’t fear you! I’ve ignored you time and again, not because I’m afraid, but because I disdain you.”
“You actually sent people to assassinate me?”
“Since you’re so eager to die, fine, I’ll oblige and send you on your way!”
He raised his arm, changing his fist to a palm sharp as a blade, ready to strike—
“Idiot, are you insane?”
“Even if you don’t fear the Sun family, aren’t you afraid of my Uncle Rabbit?”
In desperation, Sun Chuanzi pointed to Lord Rabbit and shouted, “My Uncle Rabbit has connections in politics, business, and the military in Jinghan! He commands great respect in the underworld too. If not for yourself, shouldn’t you think of your sister? If anything happens to me, Uncle Rabbit won’t let you go—he’ll kill you and your sister both!”
Hearing this, Ye Wushang frowned and looked toward the voice.
When he saw the so-called Uncle Rabbit was the same Lord Rabbit from Qingfeng Pavilion, his expression darkened instantly. He hadn’t expected to encounter him here—and as it turned out, Lord Rabbit was the boss of this company, the superior that Sun Chuanzi was working under. Lord Rabbit’s face was full of terror; he trembled, lost his footing, and collapsed onto the sofa.
Wasn’t this the little miracle doctor he had been searching for so long? To find him here, it was as if fate had led him straight to his door.
He cared nothing for Sun Chuanzi’s grudges with Ye Wushang. All he cared about was whether Ye Wushang could put aside past grievances and treat his illness. Though he was friends with Sun Houtde, at most they were drinking buddies. Compared to his own life, Sun Houtde was nothing, let alone this useless Sun Chuanzi.
“Well, coward, are you afraid now?”
Seeing Ye Wushang hesitate, Sun Chuanzi assumed Lord Rabbit’s reputation had intimidated him. Seizing the opportunity, he shoved Ye Wushang aside, scrambled up, and limped to Lord Rabbit.
“This is my Uncle Rabbit, our company president, the property tycoon of Antique Street, and a big name in the underworld! In Jinghan, one stomp from him can shake the city three times!”
“You dare hit me, even try to kill me? Get on your knees and apologize! If you don’t show proper respect, I won’t let you off!”
With Lord Rabbit backing him, Sun Chuanzi was full of confidence, sticking close to Lord Rabbit to show their relationship.
Ye Wushang didn’t know Lord Rabbit had gone to the hospital for tests. He thought the two were a perfect pair, birds of a feather, and was about to explode in anger when suddenly, with a loud slap, Lord Rabbit struck Sun Chuanzi’s face, leaving a bloody five-fingered mark.
“Uncle Rabbit?”
Sun Chuanzi stared at Lord Rabbit in terror, completely confused. “Why did you hit me? It was this coward who tried to kill me, you…”
“Smack, smack!”
Lord Rabbit struck again, even harder this time, pounding Sun Chuanzi’s head with his fists. Finally, he kicked him to the ground, pressing his foot to his chest and shouting, “Not only do I want to hit you, just like the little miracle doctor, I want to kill you!”
“Little… little miracle doctor?”
Sun Chuanzi was even more bewildered.
Ye Wushang’s cold expression softened slightly. Not only had Lord Rabbit beaten Sun Chuanzi, he had called him the little miracle doctor—it seemed he knew about Ye Wushang’s medical skills and his illness. No matter what grievances he held, or how close he was to Sun Chuanzi, in the face of life and death, he surely knew what to do.
“That’s right. He’s the little miracle doctor I’ve been searching for!”
Lord Rabbit replied, glancing at Ye Wushang and scolding Sun Chuanzi, “I have cancer, and it’s advanced. Even the hospital has pronounced me doomed, but the little miracle doctor has a way to cure me. He’s my savior, my only hope for survival.”
“You dare cause him trouble? Who gave you such reckless courage? If you dare insult the little miracle doctor again, do you believe I won’t kill you myself?”
Boom!
Hearing this, Sun Chuanzi felt his scalp explode. He never imagined this coward would have ties to Lord Rabbit, and that his medical skills could treat Lord Rabbit’s cancer. With Lord Rabbit’s reputation and power, not even the Sun family could oppose him. Now that the coward had Lord Rabbit’s backing, to challenge him further would be suicide.
Thud.
Without regard for his pain, Sun Chuanzi rolled over and knelt, begging Lord Rabbit for mercy, “Uncle Rabbit, I’m sorry. I know I was wrong. If I’d known you had this connection, even a hundred times braver, I wouldn’t dare…”
“Apologizing to me is useless!”
Lord Rabbit replied coldly, “If the little miracle doctor doesn’t forgive you, I won’t need him to act—I’ll kill you myself!”
“Yes, yes.”
Sun Chuanzi nodded repeatedly, swallowing his indignation and forced to apologize to Ye Wushang, “I’m sorry, Ye Wushang. I know I was wrong…”
“Kowtow.”
Sun Chuanzi paused, “What did you say?”
“You told me to kneel and kowtow to you for an apology, didn’t you? Do as you said.”
Ye Wushang replied calmly.
Sun Chuanzi wanted to argue, but seeing Lord Rabbit’s fierce glare, he knew what would happen if he refused. Taking a deep breath, he kowtowed three times loudly to Ye Wushang, saying, “Ye Wushang, please forgive me. I truly realize my mistake. I promise there won’t be a next time…”
“Not accepted.”
Ye Wushang shook his head. He had come for a thorough resolution. A simple apology meant nothing to him.
“I’ve already knelt and kowtowed, and you still refuse?”
Infuriated by Ye Wushang’s refusal, Sun Chuanzi glared up at him, “Ye Wushang, don’t go too far…”
Bang.
Before he could finish, Lord Rabbit punched him to the ground.
“If the little miracle doctor doesn’t accept, it means you lack sincerity. You dare act up instead of repenting?”
Looking around, Lord Rabbit picked up an ashtray from the table and, without a word, smashed it on Sun Chuanzi’s head. His sole aim now was to please Ye Wushang—only then would he have a chance to survive. As for Sun Chuanzi, his ‘great nephew,’ he was nothing.
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang!
The ashtray rained down on Sun Chuanzi’s head. Minutes later, his head was bleeding, his face a bloody mess.
Employees who heard the commotion rushed in, their hearts pounding at the sight. Before they could intervene, the blood-soaked Lord Rabbit roared, “Get the hell out! Anyone else comes in, I’ll deal with them too!”
Everyone scattered in a panic.
Lord Rabbit glanced at Ye Wushang, seeing his indifferent expression, still not quite satisfied. Taking a deep breath, he discarded the ashtray, grabbed a golf club from the corner, and started beating Sun Chuanzi again.
His head became deformed. His clothes were torn to shreds. Not a single patch of skin remained untouched.
A few minutes later, with a final whimper, Sun Chuanzi lost consciousness completely.
But Ye Wushang did not call a halt, and Lord Rabbit dared not stop. He raised the golf club, ready to deliver a fatal blow, when Ye Wushang finally said, “Lord Rabbit, this is a society governed by law. Killing someone outright is probably not a good idea.”
From his observation, Sun Chuanzi was finished. He wouldn’t die, but paralysis and a vegetative state were certain. Reduced to a mindless shell, he would never stir up trouble again.
He hadn’t expected Lord Rabbit to be so ruthless—he didn’t treat Sun Chuanzi as a human, striking to kill with every blow. No wonder he came from the underworld; truly savage and merciless.
