Chapter 88 Abduction!
In the blink of an eye, two days had passed.
During these two days, Ye Wushang shuttled between the villa and the noodle shop. With the help of Zhang Long and Peach Blossom, the noodle shop’s business was booming, and his sister was thoroughly enjoying herself.
Ye Wushang’s cultivation had also improved significantly. He bathed in the water of Heavenly Fire infused with the core formula given by Lan Ruoxue. Using the noodle shop’s courtyard as a boundary, he fused energies, elevating his cultivation from the fifth level of the Tempering Qi stage to the peak of the eighth!
His strength now reached a thousand pounds, his movements agile as a startled rabbit, and his abilities had all undergone a qualitative leap.
“Unfortunately, my body is now clogged and burdened; forcing more cultivation would only backfire,” he mused. “Back when I asked for the supreme Langya Grass, it was meant as a medium for this, but after two days of nurturing, there’s been no progress at all. The seeds are fine, but they just won’t sprout. There must be something wrong with the method.”
With this thought, Ye Wushang decided to have Huang Pianruo arrange a meeting with her so-called master.
As for An Lan’s earlier suggestion about planning for the noodle shop, he hadn’t given it much thought—not because he didn’t care, but he simply didn’t have the time. So, he entrusted this task to Lord Rabbit.
After escorting Xu Zifeng’s wife and child to a safe house that evening, he returned to the Emperor’s Hotel. He gave Lord Rabbit some pills and even provided a massage; his body was now seventy to eighty percent recovered. Grateful beyond words, Lord Rabbit immediately agreed when asked to help plan the noodle shop.
Just then, his phone rang. The caller display showed An Lan.
“Hello, Lanlan,” Ye Wushang answered calmly. “You’re calling about the medicinal cuisine competition, right? You said it’s tonight at six, at the Melody Restaurant. It’s still early—why the rush?”
“That’s not it,” An Lan interrupted. “I want to talk about the cooperation with the Lan family. The details have all been arranged. As the supervisor, you need to bring the documents over to sign. Huiru is waiting for you at the villa gate. If you’re not busy, go sign the contract first—my uncle will want to see it later.”
Ye Wushang’s expression darkened. He’d agreed to act as supervisor out of necessity; in his heart, he didn’t want the job, nor did he want any further entanglement with Lan Ruoxue. Yet now, the arrow was nocked and had to be shot. If he refused, he feared it would hurt An Lan’s feelings.
For some reason, he found himself caring deeply about her feelings now. Every move she made tugged at his heart.
“All right, I’ll go now. Don’t worry, the An family’s agency rights are crucial. I’ll keep a close eye on the Lan family.”
After hanging up, Ye Wushang took a deep breath, sent a message to Lord Rabbit to meet at the Lan Group, and left the villa.
---
In front of the Lan Group, inside a waiting taxi—
“Master Wang, you worry too much. Isn’t my Broken Finger gang reliable? I’ll take care of this, no need to worry. I won’t hurt the woman, just scare that waste a little.
“Right, no need to kill him. Beat him half to death at most—didn’t Young Tiger say he’d teach him a lesson himself?”
“Okay, goodbye.”
After hanging up, the man with only four fingers on his right hand held a photo in his hand. The photo was of Lan Ruoxue.
Last night, he’d received instructions to kidnap President Lan Ruoxue from the Lan Group today, luring Ye Wushang into a trap to capture him.
Master Wang had shown him many favors—he was his savior. Master Wang’s words were law to him.
Still, the real target was that so-called waste, Ye Wushang. If possible, he was not to harm Lan Ruoxue.
But not harming didn’t mean he couldn’t violate her.
Staring at the photo of the stunningly beautiful Lan Ruoxue, a wicked fire surged in him, his body growing feverish as he licked his lips hungrily.
“This woman just oozes excitement. If I get my hands on her, it’ll be heaven. Heh, as long as she’s alive—how I play is up to me, right?”
As he fantasized, his gaze shifted and he suddenly saw a woman hurrying out the door—it was Lan Ruoxue.
“What’s going on? Weren’t we supposed to sign the agreement at the company today? Why did I suddenly get a text telling me to meet at the street-side café?” she muttered. “And he won’t answer his phone, just sends texts. What is Ye Wushang up to, being so mysterious?”
Lan Ruoxue took out her car keys and pressed a few times, but heard no response. She was certain she’d parked at the company entrance, but now her car was gone.
Just now, she’d been waiting in her office for Ye Wushang to come sign the agreement, intending also to invite him to her grandfather’s sixtieth birthday tomorrow. Not out of lingering feelings—after both An Lan and Huang Pianruo appeared, her pride had taken a hit. Maybe her family background couldn’t compare to theirs, but in terms of beauty and ability, how was she any less?
She had to find out if he had really cheated during their marriage! Tomorrow’s birthday banquet would be the perfect chance to question him.
“Driver, to Tianhuo Café on Shunping Road, please?”
The message had sounded urgent, so with her car missing, Lan Ruoxue had no choice but to run across the street and flag down a taxi.
Though taxis weren’t supposed to stop in front of the company, she was in a hurry and didn’t care.
“Of course, hop in,” said Broken Finger, agreeing on the surface but secretly delighted. The photo was enticing enough, but seeing her in person made his hormones run wild. Especially when she leaned down to ask him, her neckline revealing a tantalizing glimpse—he could hardly restrain himself.
He longed to pounce right then and there.
With a “bang,” Lan Ruoxue opened the back door and got in.
“Sit tight, we’re off,” Broken Finger said with a sinister grin, starting the engine and driving away.
In the back seat, Lan Ruoxue was still pondering Ye Wushang’s intentions, but soon felt woozy. The scent in the car was sickly sweet, almost nauseating, and before she could react, her vision went black and she lost consciousness.
Moments later, as the taxi drove away, Sun Huiru arrived at the company entrance in a luxury car, bringing Ye Wushang.
“Mr. Ye, these are the documents prepared by President An—please keep them safe,” said Sun Huiru, handing the papers to him and reminding, “As the supervisor, your role is vital. This cooperation will entrust all An family business to the Lan family for management. The performance must increase by at least two or three times to meet the family’s expectations and satisfy Master An Qingguo. I know you’re friends with President An, and Lan Ruoxue is your ex-wife, but I hope you’ll be impartial. If they act out or cause trouble, please be fair.”
Sun Huiru didn’t care much for Ye Wushang. In her eyes, he was simply a toad trying to eat swan meat.
Ye Wushang nodded. “Tell President An I’ll handle it. I’ll be at the Melody Restaurant at six for the competition.”
After the brief conversation, Ye Wushang got out, and Sun Huiru drove away.
Just as he turned around, he saw Lord Rabbit hurrying over.
“Mr. Ye!” Lord Rabbit was impeccably dressed and full of energy. Seeing Ye Wushang, he bowed respectfully. “Thank you for the medicine, I feel completely fine now! Especially after your massage—I feel better than before I was sick. Your medical skills are astounding, you’re my savior. From now on, I’m at your service. If you tell me to go east, I wouldn’t dare go west!”
Ye Wushang waved him off with a smile. “No need for such formality. Healing is my duty. Besides, you helped me too—it’s mutually beneficial. However, you’re not completely recovered yet. I’ll give you more medicine later. Just rest well.”
“Thank you, Mr. Ye!” Lord Rabbit nodded and took a file from his bag. “Here’s the noodle shop future plan you asked for. I may not be skilled in much, but I know business—”
“We’ll talk about that later,” Ye Wushang interrupted. “I have to discuss the cooperation with Lan Ruoxue now. We’ll go over the details afterward.”
Thus, Ye Wushang and Lord Rabbit entered the building. Although Ye Wushang had been a live-in son-in-law to the Lan family for three years, he’d done nothing but chores and housework, never once visiting the Lan Group. The employees didn’t recognize him.
Normally, visitors needed an appointment or a connection. The two were promptly stopped by security.
Fortunately, Lord Rabbit identified himself, and the guards let them through respectfully.
They took the elevator to the top floor and headed to Lan Ruoxue’s office, only to find it empty.
“What’s going on? Where’s President Lan?” Lord Rabbit looked around, but there was no trace of her.
Ye Wushang frowned and muttered, “Secretary Sun just told me that both President An and Lan Ruoxue agreed she’d wait for me here to sign the papers, but now…”
“Madam, please come in. President Lan is waiting for you in her office,” came Xu Wei’s voice from outside the door.
As they looked up, Zhao Xiue appeared before them…
