Tomorrow, or rather at midnight tonight, this book will go on sale. During this time, I want to thank every reader for your support!

To be honest, when I used to read other people’s novels, I never paid much attention to these launch notes, nor did I understand what purpose they served. Now that I’m writing my own book, I’ve realized they really can’t be left out. At the very least, this chapter lets readers know that from here on, the novel will begin to require payment.

On April 1st, which was last Friday, my editor told me the book could be released. I won’t pretend it was to let readers enjoy a few more free chapters or any such polite lie. Truthfully, I simply wanted to stay on the new-book recommendation list a little longer, to pick up a few more favorites and gain a few more followers. Because of that, the required word count for release was also raised from 170,000 to 210,000 today.

But recommendations are not omnipotent. These past two days, I can feel the rise in favorites has already become very weak. I don’t know whether it’s because the audience has been saturated, or because what I wrote is indeed not compelling enough.

After reading quite a few comments, I also came to realize that the earlier chapters really did have some problematic points that I failed to handle well, and many readers abandoned the book because of them. Before leaving, they even had to curse me out, which left me rather discouraged. The thing is, I can’t do much about it; it truly was written in a way that didn’t make them enjoy reading it, so I have to own that mistake. But the main plot is what it is, and there are not many places I can change. All I can say is that I’ll pay more attention in the next book. I almost want to cry, but there are no tears.

For a first-time author to have numbers like this, I really shouldn’t ask for anything more. All I can do is keep offering my humble thanks, again and again.

I knew there wouldn’t be many people joining, but the number was still so small that it was honestly upsetting, to the point where I completely started doubting whether the first-day subscriptions after release would collapse catastrophically.
