Chapter 116: The Passage

Miss Jade truly could not understand why Mo Bai’s mood had changed so drastically in an instant. Suddenly, she heard Mo Bai speak to the air in the distance: “I’ll trouble you then.”
Miss Jade was stunned, but then a wave of coldness suddenly hit her face. She gasped inwardly and silently activated the unique spiritual technique of Mo Yu Ridge, barely managing to dispel the chill. Her eyes grew slightly unfocused as she looked toward the horizon and suddenly laughed softly, “Heh, I didn’t expect Master Mo to have so many close female friends.”
Mo Bai smiled and said, “I’m not yet married, nor have I found a girl I like. Having a few close female friends isn’t so bad. Hmm, why do you say I have so many? How many do you know?”
“Heh, I’ll tell you next time when we meet,” said Miss Jade with a giggle. Her figure wavered and disappeared into thin air, leaving behind a voice: “My name is Jade Silverheart. I hope you remember it.”
Mo Bai repeated the name Jade Silverheart several times under his breath, feeling somewhat startled. Just what kind of enchanting girl was this mysterious stranger? But for now, he did not dwell on the mystery. Thinking that if that person had left, Xiao Hua would surely be safe. He decided to make the most of the moment and do more.
Mo Bai looked at Xiao Hua’s somewhat haggard expression and sighed, “Xiao Hua, you’ve suffered.”
Xiao Hua smiled indifferently, “Master Mo, what are you saying? I should actually thank the person who kidnapped me. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have had such a long time to be with Yu’er.” Then in a low voice to Mo Bai, “Master Mo, all those days before were wasted. Only now do I understand what true love really is. You should find someone too. Hmm, where’s that little witch?”
Of course, Xiao Hua was looking for Nalan Xin’er.
At this moment, Master Yunfa waved his hand, and Jiutong nodded, promptly summoning Nalan Xin’er. The little witch suddenly saw Mo Bai, the vanished Xiao Hua, and Ganyu. She could no longer hold back her tears as one fell from her eye like a pearl breaking free from its string. “You wretched bunch! Why do you all leave at once and take so long to come back? Do you know how worried I was? You, you, you shameless lot!” The little witch wiped her tears while scolding and crying.
Mo Bai whispered to Xiao Hua, “Do you think I can be at ease like this?”

Wuluohua shook his head and said, “We still need to train her.”
Mo Bai laughed and scolded, “Get lost.”
Mo Bai arranged for Xiao Hua to accompany Ganyu under the protection of Jiuling and Jiutong of the Yun Tian Sect, temporarily going to a room in the inn. Then he gave Master Yunfa a meaningful glance. With a movement of spiritual energy, he quietly laid down the sleeping little witch and turned to join Jiuxi and the Red Forest Maiden in the outer room to begin planning.
Just as dawn was breaking, Mo Bai and Master Yunfa, like stealthy cats, found the armory of ten thousand spears. They nodded simultaneously, silently landing behind the guards and quickly subduing them. With a somewhat surprised look, Master Yunfa watched as Mo Bai condensed a special spiritual energy and inserted it into the keyhole. Mo Bai then grinned mischievously, “Master, don’t be surprised. This isn’t some petty thief’s trick, but a secret technique taught to me by a great master.”
Master Yunfa’s interest was piqued. Since joining Yun Tian Sect, Mo Bai had shown many extraordinary skills. He hadn’t expected this young man to be like an endless ocean of profundity. “Which great master’s secret skill is this?” The dignified Master Yunfa found himself curious.
Mo Bai glanced at Master Yunfa’s crouched figure and thought the old man wasn’t as stern as he appeared; rather, he seemed somewhat endearing. He smiled, “It was the Horse King.”
Master Yunfa was stunned, then burst out laughing, “Damn, I never thought that old fellow not only knows how to control horses with spiritual energy but also how to pick locks.”
Mo Bai grinned mischievously, “Heh heh, all these masters have their quirks. Otherwise, how else would I have bet with them to willingly teach me their secret guarding skills?”
Though Mo Bai spoke lightly, Master Yunfa knew that Mo Bai’s accomplishments were not won by mere wagers. While he was still pondering, there was a loud creak—the armory’s gate had been opened by Mo Bai. Mo Bai lifted his leg to step inside, but Master Yunfa grabbed him back, somewhat reproachful, “You’re still inexperienced. What if there’s an ambush in such an important place?”
Mo Bai smiled calmly, “Master, if there were no traps, it would be exhausting for just the two of us to break through the ten-thousand spear formation. The Red Forest Maiden said the Yi Hua Gate had already scouted it long ago. There are tens of thousands of spirit spears here. This won’t be easy.”

Master Yunfa was stunned and asked, “Then what do we do?”
Mo Bai laughed heartily, “Poison with poison. We’ll enter and adjust the traps to target those ten thousand spirit spears. When the Guihai family presses the master switch, it will be quite a spectacle.”
“How do you know the Guihai family will come?” Master Yunfa was even more surprised. He had thought they would sneak in quietly to sabotage the spear formation, but Mo Bai intended to wait for the Guihai family’s arrival.
Mo Bai was momentarily taken aback. “I don’t think Old Guihai is that foolish. When he returns empty-handed, he’ll realize this spear formation is his greatest reliance—and I, Mo Bai, might become his enemy.”
Master Yunfa finally understood, but by then, following Mo Bai’s words, they had already entered the armory. Watching Mo Bai’s skilled moves, he asked again, “Mo boy, who did you learn this from?”
Mo Bai grinned, “No more talk. If I tell you, your jaw will drop again.”
The armory collapsed. Facing Guihai Xin and his men, Mo Bai didn’t wait to answer their questions. Instead, he saw the young lord—the one he had encountered several times at the bun shop and the arena. His heart stirred; they were all together. Perhaps today, leaving this place so easily was not meant to be.
