Chapter 128
"A reverse experiment?" Li Daoran asked.
"Yes, a reverse experiment. Because when you return from the Daoran world, you can do so simply with a single thought, which is much more convenient than in Aqua Blue Star. The flow of time in Aqua Blue Star is constant, so we can inflict harm on your physical body while your consciousness is absent.
Even if you return, the state of your body might not recover due to the discrepancy in time. The only chance for your hypothesis to succeed is to exploit a time differential, but such a time differential does not exist on your body here in Aqua Blue Star.
However, your body in the Daoran world is different; a time differential does exist there. Because when you depart, the entire world pauses its fragmentation, including your body, much like a paused virtual world.
After you proposed your hypothesis, we studied it carefully. If there's any chance of success, it can only be because of this time differential. Now, with the treasure that is the honey, we have developed an even further idea. Come back first, and let's discuss it thoroughly," David said.
This matter was somewhat complicated, and David could not explain it clearly to Li Daoran in a short time, so he chose to have him return first. This important discovery allowed the people of Aqua Blue Star to pull off some unorthodox operations. Currently, Li Daoran's body could withstand much greater devastation without affecting his Aqua Blue Star form, giving them a bold idea.
Not entirely understanding the profound implications but sensing their importance, Li Daoran immediately wanted to return. However, as if remembering something, he picked up a wooden spoon, scooped a mouthful of honey into his mouth, and then triggered his return.
Opening his eyes, Li Daoran smacked his lips—it was completely empty, lacking the sweetness of the honey. He smiled self-deprecatingly; it seemed he had indeed been influenced by Pi Yanzi's remarks, actually expecting to bring physical matter across worlds.
Looking at the surrounding doctors and David and the others, he moved his body, removed the medical instruments attached to him, and looked at his arm. The three wounds, now almost invisible, were still there, not a single one missing.
Indeed, the wounds on this body would not heal simply because the body in the Daoran world had healed. Still, there was a trace of disappointment; how wonderful it would have been if they had healed.
The others also watched Li Daoran's movements, knowing what he was thinking, and shook their heads. As long as time does not stand still, how easy is it to reverse what has already happened?
Li Daoran sat up, and David signaled him not to rush. Several doctors treated Li Daoran's wounds. Although the wounds were minor and would have been fine untreated, caution is always the mother of safety; otherwise, why would they be here if not to handle even minor injuries properly? If they didn't treat them well, there would be no point in his being here at all.
After the treatment, Li Daoran looked at the wounds again; they were no longer visible, healed to perfection. Li Daoran asked, "So Aqua Blue Star has this kind of honey too?"
"We do, but it's not honey; it's ridiculously expensive. It's fine for healing small wounds, but don't get any extra ideas—it's nothing as miraculous as your bucket of honey," David rolled his eyes. Of course, there were medicines to heal minor wounds; as for their efficacy, the price was directly proportional to it.
Li Daoran walked out of the sterile room with them, all of them taking off their medical gowns together. Only then did Li Daoran notice that many familiar faces were among the doctors, though he couldn't quite remember where he had seen them.
They didn't talk much to Li Daoran, merely nodding with a smile. Then, they all looked down at their own arms. Research was always their mission, and they gathered together to discuss how long these wounds would take to heal, debating everything from the blade's shape and spacing to the volume of bleeding.
Listening to this, Li Daoran felt his scalp tingle and hurried away as if fleeing.
David chuckled secretly, and the others shook their heads and quickly followed.
"Are you hungry? It'll probably take a while longer to finalize the plan. Want to eat something first?" Natasha asked.
"That's fine, though I'm not very hungry," Li Daoran said. Having two bodies sometimes made it difficult to tell whether he was actually hungry or not. Remembering food now, he licked his lips and said, "That honey tasted great. I took one last spoonful at the end—did any of you taste the sweetness?"
"Pfft, hahaha!" David laughed, clutching his stomach.
Natasha cast a charmingly alluring side-long glance at Li Daoran and said, "Ask that again when you actually manage to bring some back. Do you know how much jealousy that invites?"
"David," Li Daoran took two steps forward and kicked David in the backside, "What are you laughing at?"
David patted his rear and said with a wronged expression, "Was I laughing? No. I was just thinking about that proposal—if you really can bring things back, maybe Pi Yanzi's waste isn't entirely unusable after all. Hahaha, though it'd probably bring back more crap than anything."
"Vulgar," Li Daoran glanced at him. This was the first time he had taken the initiative to bridge the distance between them, engaging in playful banter.
Charles cast a covert, envious look at David. For some reason, after Chen Ming's departure, David had rapidly gained Li Daoran's approval. As expected of Pluto, he really knew what he was doing, whereas he himself had foolishly made a mistake.
"Where are we going to eat?" Li Daoran asked, noticing that the path they were taking didn't seem to lead back to the villa.
"To eat the communal pot," Charles said.
"The communal pot?" Li Daoran asked doubtfully.
"It's not good to be detached from the masses for too long. Everyone got hurt today, so naturally, we should have a meal together," Hou Liang chimed in, stepping closer.
"Live-streaming dinner?" Li Daoran asked. "No wonder you wouldn't let me turn off the live stream."
"Yes, live-streaming dinner," Hou Liang nodded.
Li Daoran turned a few corners with them and arrived at a room. Inside was a projection screen, a table, and the table was covered with various ingredients.
"Hot pot?" Seeing the hot pot in the middle of the table surrounded by dishes, Li Daoran understood what was on the menu today.
"The last live stream had great feedback, and viewers hope to see more of your daily life and interact with you more. So today, you'll be eating and chatting. This time, we won't use video; instead, we'll interact through the comment section. Once you're full, the plan over there should be ready, and we can continue then," David began tinkering with the projector.
Natasha turned on the hot pot, motioning for Li Daoran to sit down, while she sat to the side and prepared the dipping sauce for him.
Tam stood off to the side like a statue, faithfully fulfilling his role as a bodyguard.
Charles picked up a white cloth and draped it over his shoulder, clearly playing the role of a waiter.
Hou Liang started putting ingredients into the pot and swapping out plates.
Feeling a bit awkward, Li Daoran said, "Sit down and eat together. I can't eat all this by myself."
"Ah," Natasha picked up a piece of cooked meat with her chopsticks and motioned for Li Daoran to open his mouth.
Before Li Daoran could speak, Natasha popped the thin slice of meat straight into his mouth.
"Enjoy the treatment of an emperor. Don't act like an ascetic; whenever there's a chance to enjoy yourself and let loose, never miss it," David said, looking up.
"Uh, I'm a bit not used to this. I'll eat by myself," Li Daoran picked up his chopsticks and stirred the hot pot.
