Chapter Fifty-Four: Home
At 4:30 PM, Yin Nian and Yuan Yin returned home.
On the way to the police station earlier, Yin Nian had already called Liang Zhicheng to inform him of her kidnapping, though she omitted the details. Once home, under his questioning, she finally recounted the entire ordeal. Liang Zhicheng was both shocked and worried, insisting that Yin Nian stay indoors until the true culprit was apprehended. Yin Nian agreed to do her best. Noticing the bandage wrapped around his ear, she asked what had happened.
"I was scratched by a stray cat while buying groceries this morning. It bled a little—nothing serious." Liang Zhicheng pointed to the back of his neck. "Look, there are two claw marks right here. I thought the cat was docile, but who knew it would be so vicious?"
"Have you had your shots?" Yin Nian asked, seeing the marks on his neck.
Once Tuan Tuan successfully got its food, it instantly quieted down, eating in large mouthfuls and making satisfied snorting sounds.
Lin Yun’s expression turned cold, his gaze sharp as a blade. With a flash of mysterious light in his palm, he vanished from where he stood.
Yan Shao insisted on shielding his own to the very end; the dignified CEO now stood with his hands on his hips, fuming.
The tangible sensation under her hand, the damp chill from the water, and the soreness in her thighs—everything reminded Su Ying of one truth: she had returned to the age of nineteen, to the year 1966.
After finishing the painting, she stopped comparing it to Cui Jue’s and measured it only against her previous work, concluding that she had not regressed.
Xu Jinzhi was speechless. Abandoning further thought, she opened her phone and found Xie Yanchuan’s WeChat, wondering what she should send him.
Arriving at the restaurant, Su Yuran headed for the private room, but the waiter blocked her path, leaving her no choice but to message Qiusheng.
Before anyone could react, the massive figure of the Wolf King vanished silently from their field of vision.
She remembered Xie Yanchuan kept it in a cabinet in the dressing room; she had caught a glimpse of it there before.
Zhai Yuan felt that if this were true, he would have to pay a visit to the Independent Commission Against Corruption to report the Housing Department officials for abuse of power.
"How is it? Is it over?" Mo Yuan could hear Qing Yi approaching. He did not get up, asking only in a flat tone.
"My dear, I hope you can wait until I understand my own heart. This is all I can do for now!" The situation with Tong Guaiguai had given him much to consider. Perhaps it was time to let her realize that the world was not as simple as she imagined.
The Langwa Village had a population of only three or four hundred; dealing with them would certainly not be easy. Cao Kui pondered silently, deciding that utilizing the natural terrain of the mountains was the only way to secure a victory.
Inside the room, Zhang Fan looked around leisurely while the old man before him studied a sheet of paper covered in medicinal ingredients.
Su Jin shouted toward the direction of the voice with all her might, "Who are you? Why do you call me Mother?"
Fu Qing nodded. "You all rest for a moment. I will go handle these gray jackals, remove their skulls, and then we shall depart." With that, he rose and headed toward the burial site of the creatures.
The sun outside was particularly bright. Just looking at that brilliant light, Xu Yaran could almost feel its warmth upon her skin.
Tian Yi shook off Du Yuesong’s grip and turned to flee; even if he could not defeat him, he had to stall him long enough to buy time for Ao Ying and the others.
"Enough nonsense. Just go to sleep and don't make me come over there to shut your foul mouth myself," Yu Feng replied coldly, unfazed by Chang Zhi's words; he had long grown accustomed to his ramblings.
Charging forward, she whipped the Ghost General Whip continuously at the ferrymen. They seemed to feel the pain, and many of them actually retreated.
"Perhaps they did it on purpose, intentionally embarrassing me, knowing that I was holding a board meeting to discuss the company's strategic expansion..." Fang Meiling said.
Looking at everything frozen in place, Kakashi felt a mix of shock and rage. He was shocked by the biting cold radiating from the ice beneath his feet—by his estimation, an ordinary person would lose their feet after just one minute—and enraged by the world’s actions.
