Chapter Twenty-Seven: Midnight Stakeout
At six in the evening, Yan Ming drove straight to Baxian Second Hospital and headed directly for the Security Department.
Since he had visited before, one of the bald security guards recognized Yan Ming. This time, there was no need for much explanation—after registering his identity, they pulled up the relevant footage as requested.
Yan Ming wanted to review quite a bit this time—not only the underground parking lot surveillance but also the hospital entrance, the registration hall, and the corridor outside Yang Po’s original ward.
“You're checking way too much,” the bald guard complained, his tone dissatisfied. “I thought you just wanted a short segment, but you're asking for an entire day’s worth, and from five or six different cameras.”
On his way over, Yan Ming had bought a few packs of cigarettes, and now he quickly approached, slipping them discreetly into the guard’s pocket with a smile.
Each student sat at their desk with summer homework, but the homeroom teacher only entered to say a few words, took attendance, and then left. She didn’t even glance at the workbooks, nor did she mention them at all.
“So? Chi’ai seems much better now,” Totoli said, watching Chi’ai, who was waiting in line for soup but kept glancing over. Totoli smiled at her, then turned back to continue the conversation.
Everyone huddled together nervously, palms slick with sweat. Their eyes were wide, straining to peer through layers of tree trunks at the cavalry speeding down the road, their hearts pounding so violently it felt as though they might burst from their chests at any moment.
“Hehe.” Changning beamed, finding Liu Qingxi’s demeanor quite amusing. She recounted the earlier events in detail.
The following day, upon arriving at Gu Chengyun’s home, Master Gu had assumed that since the previous day was Mrs. Lin’s birthday, Lin Xiaoxiao would have had little chance to practice. To his surprise, she returned having mastered nearly all the basics he’d taught her last time.
The instructor had taken them for a period of special training. Upon returning, she had far surpassed those who once dared to mock her. Only then did she realize how much potential she truly possessed.
Not far above them, a metal panel in the domed ceiling slid open, revealing a pitch-black passageway.
Just as Yamada Maya was cheering, someone seemed determined to contradict her and immediately voiced a dissenting opinion.
“Yes, Dragon Head, rest assured. As long as the organization needs me, I’ll always be ready.” Xiao Ming spoke with unwavering resolve.
He had only shown her the wound on his arm, but from his stiff movements and pale face, she knew there were other injuries hidden beneath his clothes.
Clad in a silver robe, with long silver hair and a silver mask covering his face!
It was all Shi Yi’s fault; everything that had led to her current predicament was because of Shi Yi. She had brought this upon herself.
Suddenly, he lunged at Liu Xiaoling. Before she could react, Wu Xing had her by the throat, pinning her against the wall. The abrupt lack of oxygen sent her mind reeling. Though her hands pummeled his grip on her neck, it was all in vain.
The Wei family was in ruins, but as long as they had time, they would eventually reclaim their former glory. Yet time was exactly what they lacked—the current state of the continent meant their family alone could not hold out much longer, and that was their greatest concern.
As the two of them moved, the others followed in swift succession. Under the setting sun, the tranquil woods were thick with murderous intent.
His palm closed over empty air, as if gripping something intangible. With a sudden burst of strength, his right hand fell, and the shadow of sword energy behind him swept down mercilessly.
At that moment, a light a thousand times brighter than the sun blazed into the dimly lit command room. Even those with eyes shut were awestruck by the unprecedented brilliance, their eyes flying open in shock.
Dong Zhanyun and the others soared up Lingxu Peak. Despite the snow, there were still many creatures frolicking below. In the glow of a red sun, Dong Zhanyun caught a glimpse of snowy vistas.
By 2006, the maritime border dispute in the northern Gulf of Tonkin between China and Vietnam was finally resolved. The exclusive economic zone and territorial sea baselines were determined, and both nations signed an agreement clearly delineating their territorial waters and economic zones, putting an end to boundary disputes in the region.
