Chapter Thirty-One: Strategy
The trial resumed.
After the presiding judge confirmed that Yan Ming was in good health, he announced that the debate between the two sides would continue.
Earlier, Yu Weiran had pointed out flaws in Yan Ming and Yin Nian’s character, which had already changed the presiding judge’s attitude toward them.
Now it was Yan Ming’s turn, but he had already struck a deal with Yu Weiran. He made a temporary revision to the materials he had prepared. He still spoke about Yu Weiran and Yang Yongli’s dirt, but in truth it was all harmless and insignificant. What was more, Yan Ming’s logic was poor and his manner nervous and flustered, as if he had been affected by something.
Yan Ming was not performing for Yin Nian, but for Yu Weiran.
After finishing with Yu Weiran and Yang Yongli, he went on to talk about Granny Yang, and finally mentioned that strand of hair.
Even Wang Zhong, who had always been calm and unruffled, began to lose his composure at this point. After all, anyone with a normal human mind would feel some wariness toward things beyond their control.
More hands reached out from the mist, seizing Zhang Yue one after another and tugging at him, trying to drag him into the abyss. Countless hands nearly swallowed Zhang Yue whole, yet no matter what, those black-and-white eyes of his still flickered with a tranquil light.
After seeing Qin Junxi’s expression, Ling Zipeng spoke at once, afraid that if he were late, Qin Junxi would beat him until he could no longer take care of himself.
"Huh?!"
This was the first time Jingjing had heard You Jian say something like that, and she did not even know how to answer.
The two of them turned their heads and saw a pale fist right before their eyes. With a dull thud, darkness swallowed their vision, and they lost consciousness.
After the captain of the plane carrying Qin Junxi and the others made up his mind, he immediately yanked the aircraft into a sudden sharp turn.
You Jian was lying on the ground laughing uproariously, and Cai had grown somewhat uneasy at this utterly abnormal display.
Bring pressure to bear and act like a tyrant? At this moment, Ezreal was asleep like a child, and Lux could not imagine him behaving in such an overbearing way no matter what.
In the wind, a pair of veiled eyes watched all of this, curiosity glimmering within them. The wind grew slower and gentler; the hems of passersby’s clothes no longer fluttered, and only a few strands of hair drifted softly. Thus the wind blew slowly and gradually down that long street, all the way to the poplar grove at its end.
Of course, just like the far side of the western district and Zhuyuan, such a shared sensation required a great many coincidences to appear. After all, one had to satisfy the conditions of eating the fruit of understanding, collide violently to form the chip altar, and then encounter information transmission through the core brain, thereby triggering the shared sensation within the space of insight into the Sevenfold Order.
With Li Mu’s ability, coupled with the power of heavy cavalry, Pang Yan found it very difficult to discover any means of restraining him.
"So, my dear Frank Castle, why are you calling me?" Andrew asked over the phone.
The morale of the Han soldiers gradually rose. All of them lifted their weapons high and shouted back to their commander.
Hearing that question, Oni’s face immediately darkened. A moment ago it had merely resembled chocolate; now it looked outright like coal.
Then came Nick, another surprise. At the time I was apprenticing at an auto repair shop. My skills were good, but no one was willing to trust a former convict, so I could only earn the lowest wage.
And in this chaotic situation, the ability to draw fouls had become a lethal weapon. Since they were determined to stop me from scoring at any cost, I had to make them pay something real for it.
That was simply how this format worked. If you could claim the chicken dinner, then of course everyone would chase those eight points, but to be honest, finishing second or third was almost meaningless.
Goud nodded in satisfaction. Seeing the others’ helpless expressions, it was true that Z City was relatively safe. Usually, the sniper and the commander, the two most important people in a team, would stay in Z City, but that blond idiot Goud insisted on staying there no matter what, so Cheng Yao switched places with him.
Chelsea, in her life, felt for the first time the presence of one of her own kind. She knew Barbara was also the sort of person who could become anyone, even without trying. Yet what astonished her was that Barbara already knew exactly what kind of person she wanted to become, and had traveled a long way down that road.
