Chapter 142 Supervisor He
"So Qipeng, you are still a second-class citizen. Well, that makes sense given your stellar-domain level strength." Blue Sky first looked at Qipeng with a hint of surprise, then remembered his stellar-domain level cultivation. Being the deputy commander of the city defense forces in a certain district of Huidu Star, it was hardly surprising that he held second-class citizen status.
"Master... Mr. Blue Sky, please don't mock me. You are a fifth-class citizen! The master of our Huidu Dynasty, the Huidu King himself, is only a sixth-class citizen!" Qipeng said with a look of utter shock. He had never expected Blue Sky's citizen rank to be so extraordinarily high!
"Indeed... Blue Sky, you are simply terrifying..." Velyn was also completely dazed. Her father had worked himself to the bone for most of his life just to reach fourth class, yet Blue Sky was a full rank higher than him!
What did this signify? It meant that Blue Sky had more than 10,000,000 universe coins in his virtual universe network account!
Are you out of your mind?!
No wonder he didn't care about one hundred thousand universe coins; to him, that really was petty cash...
"Heh, fifth-class citizen is nothing special. Don't let the single-rank difference between sixth-class and fifth-class citizens fool you; the gap between them is impossibly vast, completely beyond comparison. A fifth-class citizen is still attainable, but reaching the sixth class is like ascending to the heavens. Without sufficient strength, no amount of wealth can elevate one to a sixth-class citizen." Seeing the incredulous expressions on their faces, Blue Sky felt a surge of smug satisfaction inwardly, though he remained very nonchalant on the surface.
"You are too modest, my lord. A fifth-class citizen is already an extraordinary and formidable figure. Given your rank, ordinary receptionists are no longer qualified to attend to you. Please wait a moment; I shall notify the supervisor immediately," the guard said respectfully, before instructing his intelligent auxiliary computer to alert the supervisor.
"Very well, Lord Blue Sky, our supervisor is already waiting for you in the reception hall. Please follow me." After a brief wait, the guard who received the reply led Blue Sky and his two companions inside.
Entering the door and walking down a long VIP corridor, the group finally arrived at the so-called reception hall.
Seeing the guard bring people in, a middle-aged man standing two to three meters tall, with prominent facial features, a slightly protruding forehead, and dark gray skin, approached Blue Sky with several attendants respectfully trailing behind him. He spoke directly to Blue Sky: "Haha, I didn't expect Mr. Blue Sky to be so young. I am the supervisor of the Huidu Star branch office; Mr. Sky may simply address me as Supervisor He."
"The Void Saint Clan! Blue Sky, this Supervisor He actually belongs to the Void Saint Clan! How strange, why would a mere branch office on Huidu Star have a genuine member of the Void Saint Clan stationed here?" Upon seeing Supervisor He, Bai's voice rang out in Blue Sky's mind instantly.
"The Void Saint Clan? Isn't that the powerful race you mentioned before, the one that controls the virtual universe network?" Blue Sky asked, startled.
"Yes. Don't let the Void Saint Clan's rather bizarre appearance—so unlike humans—fool you; the Void Saint Clan are actually humans as well. They are a branch lineage of the human race, and an immensely powerful one at that!" Bai explained. "Because of the virtual universe network, members of the Void Saint Clan hold noble statuses and generally do not appear in minor places like the Yuanlan Empire, let alone be stationed in a mere Huidu Star branch office. How strange..."
"Who cares whether it's possible or not? What does it have to do with us? We'll just make small talk; we're leaving as soon as we pick up our items anyway." Blue Sky shook his head, cutting off his conversation with Bai.
"Greetings, Supervisor He, I am Blue Sky." Hearing the supervisor address him in fluent universal official language, Blue Sky replied in the same tongue while executing a standard universal greeting.
Then, with a smile, he said, "I never expected a prominent figure of the Void Saint Clan to personally preside over a branch office. It truly comes as quite a surprise."
"Oh? Mr. Blue Sky knows of the Void Saint Clan?" Supervisor He asked, noncommittal about the title of "prominent figure," but looking somewhat astonished.
Although there were many rumors about the Void Saint Clan in the universe, the human race had imposed a certain degree of information blockade regarding them to protect the Void Saint Clan from alien attacks. Unless one reached a certain status and position, it was basically impossible to know what the Void Saint Clan looked like, let alone in a backwater place like the Yuanlan Empire. Aside from a tiny handful of people, no one could possibly know the true appearance of the Void Saint Clan.
"Actually, I've never seen the Void Saint Clan before either, but I heard my elders mention them, so I guessed it after seeing Supervisor He's appearance," Blue Sky said with a smiling nod and a vague explanation.
"Haha, no wonder Mr. Blue Sky possesses a private space despite being a fifth-class citizen. It seems Mr. Blue Sky's family background must be extraordinary!" Supervisor He did not press further, explaining with a smile, "Mr. Blue Sky needn't be surprised; I am only temporarily in charge of this Huidu Star branch office and will be leaving shortly. That we are able to meet here is indeed a matter of fate."
"Supervisor He can just call me by my name. If we really want to stand on ceremony, I should be calling you sir instead," Blue Sky replied modestly, striking a balance between humility and self-respect.
"Haha, you're an interesting fellow, kid Blue Sky. Have you come this time to retrieve the items from your private space?" Supervisor He asked with a smile, switching his form of address directly from "Mr. Blue Sky" to "kid Blue Sky," though his attitude had grown much more affectionate.
"Eh? Your spiritual force?" Supervisor He looked at Blue Sky, his brow suddenly furrowing slightly, and a hint of extra surprise crept into his gaze.
Hearing this question, Blue Sky's expression turned somewhat bitter. Ever since the completion of the first level of the Soul-镇 Tower, his spiritual force had surged dramatically, and he still hadn't fully adapted to it. From time to time, his spiritual force would leak out. It was fine when dealing with those of similar cultivation, but against someone with clearly profound cultivation like Supervisor He, no active probing was necessary; just a slight perception was enough to gauge the intensity of his spiritual force.
"I told you to work hard and properly adapt to your soaring spiritual force, but you wouldn't listen. Look at that, you've been found out!" Bai's complaining voice sounded in Blue Sky's ear once again, followed by a somewhat helpless tone: "Never mind, this Supervisor He's cultivation has already reached the third-tier cosmic level. Even if you had fully adapted, if he genuinely wanted to perceive it, he would still be able to."
"Third-tier cosmic level? After reaching the cosmic level, have the cultivation tiers changed again?" Blue Sky asked, startled upon hearing this.
"Of course. Once you reach the cosmic level, the gap in strength widens drastically. The lower, middle, and upper tiers are no longer sufficient to categorize strength," Bai replied. "The cosmic level, from the initial entry to the cosmic level peak, is divided into nine tiers in total. The gap between each tier is immense; the strength gap between a first-tier cosmic level and a second-tier cosmic level is even greater than the gap between the stellar level and the stellar-domain level!"
"Of course, a chasm also exists between the stellar-domain level and the cosmic level. It can be considered the second bottleneck after breaking through from level 81 of human race energy accumulation to the stellar-radiance level. Many cultivators spend their entire lives unable to break through from the stellar-domain level to the cosmic level, ultimately dying with lifelong regrets."
"So that's how it is..." Following Bai's explanation, Blue Sky instantly understood. It seemed the path of cultivation truly was a long and arduous journey...
