Chapter Forty-Two: I’ll Take on Ten at Once!
(1/3)
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Within the virtual game, Blue Sky’s legs lashed out like whips, relentlessly striking the Lion-Ni Beast. No longer constrained by rigid force-gathering, every attack now carried the special effect of Resonance. Though only at seventy to eighty percent of full power, it was still enough to drive the Lion-Ni Beast back again and again, forcing anguished roars from its throat.
“Heh, keep being wild, why aren’t you so cocky now? How dare you bite even my ‘corpse’? You’ve got quite the nerve!” With a cold sneer, Blue Sky drew Resonance from his chest and abdomen to his right leg in a flash, stomped the ground fiercely, and his body shot behind the Lion-Ni Beast. His right hand clenched into a fist and punched out with brute force. Just as the blow was about to land, his fist became shrouded in Resonance—a double force activated!
The Lion-Ni Beast, agitated and furious, whipped its tail sideways. Blue Sky, recalling the loss he’d suffered from that tail before, didn’t dare to be careless. He pushed off the ground and leaped into the air. Under the amplification of Resonance and with his strength fully gathered, he brought down a powerful elbow strike from above—one hundred percent double force unleashed. Terrifying power exploded from his elbow, crashing down on the Lion-Ni Beast’s spine!
The impact was devastating. The beast’s most vulnerable spine began to fracture under the first wave of roughly fifty tons of force. The next second, a hundred tons erupted, reducing its entire spinal column to powder.
Its internal organs burst apart.
Struck with such force, the Lion-Ni Beast collapsed instantly, bleeding from every orifice, unable to move again.
“Mission complete. Time used: one minute thirty seconds!”
Applause rang out immediately after the electronic announcement.
“In just a minute and a half, you’ve already mastered the first level of the basic combat technique’s Resonance. I must admit, your talent for comprehension is astonishing!” White’s voice was filled with emotion. Blue Sky’s aptitude and combat instincts had truly taken it by surprise.
Blue Sky had no reference point, so he didn’t realize how his progress compared to others. But White, who had encountered countless geniuses across the universe, knew exactly how extraordinary he was!
Even Mang Feng, the God of Battle, had needed several months to learn, master, and flexibly apply this technique. Blue Sky—just one night.
To be precise, only a few hours.
“In this tiny speck of a planet called Earth, such a peerless genius has appeared! And he is the registered disciple of my master—not just that, from now on, he is the master’s true direct disciple! At last, my master’s revenge is within reach!” A mix of sadness and pride crossed White’s face as it silently clenched its fists.
“Tsk tsk, receiving such praise from Lord White—it’s truly rare!” Now that he’d completely grasped the first level of Resonance, Blue Sky’s combat strength had soared geometrically. He was delighted, and couldn’t help but tease.

“You deserve it!”
“Well, well, isn’t Lord White usually disdainful of our Earthling language? How come you’re speaking it now?” Blue Sky laughed, hearing White suddenly use English.
Clearly, White was in a good mood.
“Occasionally using a phrase adds some flavor to life. You’re human—don’t you get that?” White looked at him with disdain, then continued, “Don’t get cocky over a small achievement. To use a popular phrase: you’re still a weakling! Keep training!”
“OK, no problem at all. Listen, using Resonance is simply amazing! I wasn’t satisfied just now—bring out more Lion-Ni Beasts, I want to fight ten!” Blue Sky nodded, boasting.
“Fight ten? You really don’t know what death means.” White snorted, then refreshed two Lion-Ni Beasts. “With your current strength, you can handle at most two. Any more, and you’ll be dead for sure.”
“Doesn’t matter—it’s not real death, just a bit painful.” Blue Sky grinned.
After all, it was just a virtual game; was there any reason to be afraid?
“You’d better be careful. Even in a virtual game, you can’t take dying lightly. If you get used to it, you might not tell reality from illusion—and in real life, death is permanent.” White warned.
“What, you think I’m an idiot?” Blue Sky rolled his eyes but nodded to show he understood.
He plunged back into battle. This time, however, it was a tough fight. The pressure from two Lion-Ni Beasts was far greater than simply double—it wasn’t something that could be solved with basic arithmetic. Lacking any area attacks, Blue Sky was stretched thin, forced into desperate situations time and again.
Yet, there was an upside. In the process, his understanding of Resonance deepened. His transitions between attack and defense grew smoother, more instinctive, woven into the fabric of his combat reflexes. Wherever he directed, his strength followed, and the results were remarkable.
His fight with the two Lion-Ni Beasts evolved from being completely dominated to a back-and-forth struggle.
Of course, that was as far as he could go. Victory against both was impossible at his current level—his foundational strength was still too low, only at the beginning of Energy Gathering Level 2. Even with Resonance amplifying his power, he couldn’t go much further.
Only when his strength grew would he truly appreciate the extraordinary effects of Resonance.

While Blue Sky was lost in the thrill of battle, unable to extricate himself, Villa No. 2, not far from his own Villa No. 3, was ablaze with light.
Had Blue Sky been there, he would have been shocked to discover that Zou Linsen’s family were, in fact, his neighbors.
At that moment, inside Villa No. 2, though it was still lavish and grand, an air of gloom and desolation pervaded.
The servants were all gone. The two chefs Zou Linsen had specially hired had also been dismissed.
His company was lost, the chairman’s position gone. His son, devastated, had run off somewhere. Although Blue Sky had shown mercy and hadn’t touched the family shares, compared to the prospect of being imprisoned for life, shares no longer mattered to Zou Linsen.
Was this, perhaps, the long-delayed retribution he deserved?
“No, what retribution?! You stole my company, destroyed my life—how can I let you get away with this?!” Zou Linsen sat hunched on the couch in his study, his face dark, nervously caressing the gleaming Desert Eagle in his hand, muttering to himself with a hint of madness.
This Desert Eagle was his last card, acquired back when he had plotted against the chairman of Sennan International Property. There was only one bullet inside, reserved for the day his crimes were exposed—a final solution.
His thinking at the time was: if I don’t succeed, I’ll die trying.
Unexpectedly, things had gone far more smoothly than he’d imagined, and the gun had been put away and forgotten.
Now, as he found himself with nowhere to turn, it seemed that bullet had found a new target.
