The man holding the check shuddered, and once he realized what was happening, he began to run for his life.

But as he ran, he felt a sharp pain in his legs. Looking down, he saw Redes lying on the ground, a fruit knife buried deep into his heel.

"Argh!!!" The pain forced a scream from his throat.

The check fluttered to the ground. Redes calmly picked it up and cast a glance at the remaining men, his eyes filled with such savage ferocity that it was as if he were looking at the man who had murdered his father.

Yet, no one retreated. The temptation of a hundred million was simply too great; instead of running, they tried to snatch the check back.

Seeing that they refused to flee, Redes wore a cruel smile.

A minute later, a river of blood flowed along the road, and Redes stood at its source, giggling mindlessly. Clearly, this group of men had paid a heavy price for their greed.

He did not know how he had arrived at the entrance of the Celestial Church, but when he arrived, the white-robed man he had met before was already there to greet him. The man quickly snatched the check, entered the church, and soon returned, following someone dressed in the attire of an Oracle.

"This is the respected Oracle, the spokesperson for the Gods."

Upon hearing these words, the mad expression on Redes’s face shifted into one of piety. "Then, Lord Oracle, please come with me to my family estate."

The "Oracle" suppressed a laugh, nodded with feigned aloofness, and replied, "Very well."

Redes brought this "Oracle" to his family home. Standing at the entrance, the imposter produced a small sphere. It contained a trace of an Oracle’s energy, which would react if any anomalous entity were nearby. He stared at the orb for a long time, but found no fluctuations. He concluded that either there were no anomalies present, or the entity had long since fled.

At that moment, Redes’s expression twisted in agony. Clutching his chest, he warned, "That anomalous creature is a doll. It is incredibly strange; it guides you step by step, eventually controlling your actions."

He had fallen into an extreme hallucination, and the doll had been constantly stimulating him from the sidelines, driving him step by step into the abyss.

Although the "Oracle" nodded on the surface, he completely disregarded the warning as nonsense and walked straight inside.

Inside the villa, Feng Tianlin slowly opened his eyes. Two living human auras—one was Redes, but who was the other? Was he bringing someone to serve as a sacrifice?

As soon as the "Oracle" entered the house, he sniffed the air and nearly vomited.

The pungent smell of blood and the two mangled corpses at the foot of the second-floor stairs made him feel deeply uneasy. He was merely a devotee who had relied on family connections to loaf around the church; he had never even seen an anomalous entity, let alone a scene like this. Besides, even if there were anomalies, would they dare to wipe out an entire household so brazenly?

He looked at the suffering Redes and said, "I am going to perform an exorcism here. You should go outside."

The exorcism was, of course, just a pretense; he only needed to put on a show.

Just then, a doll appeared before him out of nowhere, staring at him with a calm expression.

The atmosphere fell into a heavy silence. Seeing the doll, Redes retreated in terror, pointing a finger at it. "That’s the doll! That’s him!"

But before he could finish, Feng Tianlin teleported to his side. Tilting his head toward the "Oracle," he asked, "I let you go so you would lead the Sun Kingdom’s anti-anomaly forces to me. Why did you bring a commoner?"

Hearing Feng Tianlin’s words, Redes instinctively crawled back two steps. "What commoner? This is an Oracle of the Celestial Church! The spokesperson for the Gods! Any anomaly that encounters them is only waiting for death."

"An Oracle?" Feng Tianlin frowned. He had encountered Oracles before, and their energy was indeed interesting, but this guy was clearly just an ordinary person. His aura was even weaker than that of a regular human.

Redes, however, was beyond caring. He shouted at the stunned "Oracle," "Lord Oracle, quickly destroy him!"

The "Oracle," who had been frozen in shock, finally snapped back to reality. He didn't say a word; gathering every ounce of strength he had, he turned and fled with the greatest speed he had ever achieved in his life.

Destroy this doll? What a joke! An entity that could slaughter a house full of people with ease, and he was supposed to deal with it as a mere human?

But as he ran, he tripped and fell to the ground. "Ah! My legs!"

Feng Tianlin walked over to his head, looking speechless. "What legs? Your legs are over there," he said, gesturing toward a pair of legs lying in the distance.

The "Oracle" was already frail to begin with. Now, having lost his legs and suffering from severe blood loss, his face turned deathly pale, and he went limp.

At this point, Feng Tianlin was certain: this guy was absolutely a commoner, a person with zero combat capability. He looked at Redes. "You’ve been scammed. How could an Oracle be such a pathetic creature?"

"I’ve been scammed?" Redes’s pupils shrank. He realized that to hire this man, he had exhausted his entire fortune and committed murder. And now? This so-called Oracle was just a commoner; the people at the Celestial Church had been treating him like a fool, deceiving him all along.

At that thought, he clutched his chest. The world began to spin, and a feeling like a volcanic eruption occurred within his breast—an emotion he could no longer suppress. He began to writhe on the ground, his fingernails digging into his own flesh again and again, leaving countless bloody wounds on his body.

"This guy is truly ruthless," Feng Tianlin remarked, watching from the side. He turned his head toward the fallen "Oracle." "Look at how badly you’ve swindled him." He was quite interested in how humans behaved when they broke down.

However, events took an unexpected turn. The aura on Redes’s body began to fluctuate violently, and the strange energy in the air started to converge into his body. Just like that, the aura of an anomalous entity began to emerge from a living human.

It didn't stop there. Cracks began to appear on his skin, and light radiated from them. Because the light shone through his blood, it appeared a deep, dark red. Finally, Redes stopped moving. His veins bulged, his pupils turned black, and a gray ring formed around them. He had completely transformed into an anomalous entity.

In just a few minutes, a living human had actually turned into an anomaly.

"Is this... a human-to-monster transformation?" Feng Tianlin was shocked. He could accept human corpses becoming zombies—he had seen such films—and he could accept inanimate objects becoming monsters, as there were legends of such spirits in ancient Earth history. But the fact that a living, breathing human could become an anomaly? If that were the case, what chance did humanity have? They might as well go extinct.
