Chapter 121: Journey to the Elven Forest
Blance was terrified to the point of stupidity. He had assumed the other party would kill him without mercy, but it turned out they only wanted information.
"What information?"
"Information regarding the Holy Church." Feng Tianlin continued to smile.
"The Holy Church's eerie creatures?" Blance was shocked. How could such a powerful eerie creature not know about the existence of the Holy Church? Was he not an eerie creature from the Sunset Kingdom?
However, before he could dwell on it, an unbearable chill drew near, followed by Feng Tianlin’s eerie voice.
"Speak quickly, or I’m not sure what might happen."
"What do you want me to tell you about them?" Blance was on the verge of tears.
"For instance, where they are all located," Feng Tianlin said indifferently.
"I... I don't know..." Blance began to stammer.
"You don't know?" Feng Tianlin’s gaze turned icy. "Are you sure?" As a member of the Sunset Kingdom’s official organization, how could he be ignorant of such intelligence? Unless he was just a freeloader.
Seeing the shift in Feng Tianlin’s expression, Blance immediately cowered. "I know, but only a little."
"What!?" Feng Tianlin seemed not to have heard him clearly.
"I know, I only know a little," Blance repeated.
"Speak," Feng Tianlin’s voice was cold.
"I only know that a large number of eerie creatures appeared in the Elf Forest recently. It seems the witches of the Elf Forest are at war with the eerie creatures," Blance said, looking aggrieved.
"Witches?" Feng Tianlin said with surprise. Did the magical professions from the films of his past life actually exist?
Blance nodded. "Yes, witches."
"Tell me about these witches." Feng Tianlin became interested.
"Witches are just a group of people who appeared inexplicably after the eerie resurgence. At first, they lived among ordinary people. Then, gradually, some of them began to act recklessly using their mana, which eventually led to everyone shunning them, causing them to hide in the Elf Forest."
Feng Tianlin stroked his chin. It seemed these were people who cultivated mana to increase their strength; in that sense, they were somewhat like the Taoist priests of Huaxia. However, Huaxia’s Taoist priests were all dedicated to dealing with eerie creatures; he had never heard of any Taoist priests attacking ordinary people.
Watching Feng Tianlin fall into thought, Blance began to back away. Once he reached a certain distance, his legs flashed with golden light, and he ran toward the door at an incredible speed. Seeing the distance between him and Feng Tianlin widen, he couldn't help but mock, "Hahaha, this is the power of a god! You’ll never catch me!"
"Smack!"
A loud slap echoed. Blance stopped in his tracks, staring in shock at the doll before him, clutching his face with his hand. He hesitated for a moment, then bolted again.
"Smack!"
Another slap. This time, blood dripped from Blance’s nose, and his expression grew even more bewildered. He refused to give up, however, and dashed toward another exit. If things were to go wrong, they undoubtedly would. Sure enough, another slap followed. Now, his head began to buzz, his vision blurred, and he couldn't even see the road clearly.
Only then did Feng Tianlin ask, "Come on, keep running."
After steadying himself, Blance shook his head. "No... no more running." He finally understood that the power of a god was a joke in front of this doll. Feng Tianlin also realized that the abilities of these "Oracles" were actually just attaching a specific internal power to a part of their body or a weapon to achieve an enhancement effect.
"Take me to that so-called Elf Forest, or you’re dead, dead, dead!" Feng Tianlin said fiercely.
Blance, eyes brimming with tears, reached into his pocket.
"What are you doing?" Feng Tianlin squinted, thinking the other party was pulling out something strange to use against him, and he prepared to kill him instantly.
"I’m just getting my phone. The navigation has it, so you don't need me to take you there," Blance said, looking extremely aggrieved, his voice trembling with sobs.
No sooner had he finished speaking than his entire body transformed into an ice sculpture.
"You had it on the navigation and didn't say so earlier? You lived for those extra seconds for nothing." Feng Tianlin looked at the ice sculpture with disdain. Was the great responsibility of defending the Sunset Kingdom against eerie creatures in the hands of people like this? He felt that conquering the Sunset Kingdom was no longer a difficult task.
He opened the navigation, searched for the Elf Forest, and to his surprise, it was actually there. "Hmm, omnipotent navigation." Since the Sunset Kingdom was relatively small, it was hardly strange that most places in the country could be navigated.
Following the GPS, he arrived at the Elf Forest late in the night. Snowflakes had begun to fall from the sky.
"Why is it snowing at a time like this?" Feng Tianlin caught a flake with his hand, but as soon as it touched him, it melted and vanished. "Hmm? What’s going on? I have no body temperature, so why did it melt?" He shook his head; now was not the time to worry about the weather. He was here to find those eerie creatures from the Holy Church. He complained incessantly in his heart: those damn guys, not coming to find him, but running off to fight a bunch of witches.
He had no idea that the conflict between the Holy Church and the witches was entirely because of him.
In the forest, points of light drifted up and down; they were the elves of the Elf Forest. These little creatures were magical beings caught between the realms of eerie creatures and humans. No one knew their origins, but it was certain they were harmless to humans. They danced in the forest like lively children, bobbing up and down, looking quite adorable.
Just as they were dancing with vigor, a transparent bottle descended and trapped them all. Feng Tianlin held a bottle the same size as himself, raised it into the air, and shook it; the little elves inside shook along with it.
"The search engine said they were hard to catch and impossible to trap—it was all a lie. This was quite easy, wasn't it?" Feng Tianlin felt smug. He had first used his "Mimic" ability to turn into a large tree, and then, catching them off guard, he had swept them all up in one go. He tossed the bottle containing the elves into his Eerie Space, intending to study them later; he was quite interested in such a magical species.
"In such a huge forest, where could the witches be?" He was currently in the center of the forest, but there were no traces of human activity here. The internet had no information about the depths of this forest either, as anyone who ventured that far either died or never returned.
At that moment, his eyes sharpened. He turned his head rapidly toward a certain direction; there was an aura of combat, and it was fast approaching.
In the distance, a beautiful young girl riding a broomstick, wearing a moon-shaped hat and holding a branch-like staff, was speeding through the forest with a serious expression. Behind her followed several winged demons. Although these demons held the upper hand, they remained serious, clearly treating the girl with caution.
"Vilias, stop running! The longer you drag this out, the more reinforcements we'll have. You can't escape," said a jet-black demon.
Vilias, the young girl, was a witch. She ignored the demon calling out to her and instead stuck her tongue out at them. "Come and catch me! Kill me if you have the guts!"
The provocation was highly effective; the demons' speed increased immediately. Not long after they accelerated, a large tree suddenly appeared in their path, and more than half of the demons collided with it. A collision alone would have been nothing, but eerily, the trees began to grow hands, tightly embracing the demons that had crashed into them, refusing to let go no matter how hard they struggled.
The remaining demons didn't even glance at their trapped companions, continuing their pursuit immediately. Vilias turned her head sharply, swung her staff, and a surge of blue energy burst from it, instantly knocking one of the demons to the ground.
The demons continued their relentless pursuit, and Vilias kept leading them on. Finally, she was forced into a dead end with nowhere left to run. According to the usual tropes, she should have been finished, but a strange smile appeared on her face.
