Seeing Jeremy like this, Jones was completely dumbfounded. His brows furrowed tightly as he cast a very casual glance backward.

Behind him, a monster with a lumpy, uneven body, countless flesh holes oozing thick liquid, a head resembling the victim of nuclear radiation, mismatched eyes staring dead at him, and growing horns was right there.

And this monster was staring fixedly at him, drool streaming down like a river.

With that casual glance, before he could even clearly see what the monster looked like, his head flew off into the distance, carrying with it a massive fountain of blood.

The blood sprayed like a geyser, splashing all over Jeremy and dyeing him completely red.

One second he was a living person, the next his head was instantly gone, all courtesy of a monster. This kind of psychological shock was not something an ordinary person could handle.

And since Jeremy was just an ordinary person, he couldn't take it and threw up on the spot.

Right at that moment, several more figures emerged from the darkness. They first pinched their noses and complained.

"Oh, Goddess of Light, what is this smell? Why is it so fishy?"

Then they saw Jeremy, who looked like a man made of blood, and the headless corpse not far from him.

"Blech!" The group's immediate reaction was also to start vomiting, after which they looked toward Jeremy.

"Good god! Can someone tell us what happened?"

Jeremy was utterly exhausted. He lay limply right where he had just vomited, and then spoke with a trembling voice.

"Here... there's a monster here, it killed him!"

"A monster?" The few of them were a bit puzzled. "Give us more details."

"It's like this. At first, I was walking with a few people, then a gust of wind blew by, and all of them vanished. Vaguely, I saw a huge figure. Then I got really scared and started calling out for you guys. This guy came over, and just as he arrived, the monster followed him and turned him into this."

As soon as he finished speaking, he curled up into a tight ball out of pure terror.

Hearing his words, the group was initially bewildered, but then a realization dawned on them.

The miserable state of this corpse clearly wasn't something a human could cause—or rather, human strength certainly couldn't stretch this far. Plus, with that weird doll being a bizarre supernatural entity, the existence of a monster actually made some sense.

Immediately, however, a possibility struck them.

"Could this be another hint given to us by that doll? We were all walking separately, which is why we didn't see any monster. You guys were walking together, and so you happened to encounter it."

Hearing this, everyone made connections, and others began to chime in.

"Yeah, the reason this guy died is also very likely because he came over to your spot."

The moment those words were spoken, everyone grew tense and subconsciously took a few steps back.

At that moment, Jeremy scrambled back up. The second he rose, he lunged toward them with his blood-stained hands, crying out, "Don't leave, I'm begging you, don't leave!"

He had been frightened to the absolute limit. These people were the source of his sense of security; he could not let them walk away again.

Yet his appearance thoroughly terrified the group. Disgusted and scared by the sight of Jeremy, they scattered and fled in all directions.

The surroundings plunged back into darkness, leaving Jeremy all alone in the dark, staring fixedly at a certain spot as tears streamed from the corners of his eyes.

He had been scared to tears.

In another corner, Tommy and several others were still groping their way through the dark when something suddenly smashed into him, knocking him flat on his back.

The moment he was struck, his vision went black and he almost passed out, but he quickly regained consciousness.

"What the hell! What was that?"

The first thing he did upon recovering consciousness was to check what on earth had hit his head.

In the darkness, he lay prone on the ground, frantically feeling around his surroundings until his hands finally brushed against something with a bizarre texture.

"What is this junk? It's flat, wet, and furry?"

His very first thought was a mannequin's head, but the moment that idea formed, his heart turned ice-cold.

"It couldn't be..."

His gaze slowly drifted downward. A flattened human skull was dripping blood right in his hands, its hair disheveled, and faintly, he could even make out the print of a palm on the scalp.

"Ah... Ah!"

He hurled the skull away instantly and bolted.

The few others were drawn by his commotion, curious about what had happened to Tommy.

When they walked over, they happened to lay eyes upon that skull.

Someone with a bold streak stepped forward and curiously picked it up. The moment everyone saw it, their legs went weak with terror.

In an instant, the entire group turned and fled.

Feng Tianling watched all of this with the corners of his lips curling into an arc. "Very good, now everyone has scattered."

Tommy was running for his life, but this darkness seemed endless; no matter how fast he ran, he could never reach the end.

"What is going on here? This castle can't possibly be this huge, can it?"

Doubts began to sprout in his heart, and his speed dropped significantly.

Just then, he felt as though he were plunging into a deep abyss of darkness, completely cut off from any information.

Helplessness and despair enveloped him, yet he never stopped moving his feet, running continuously forward.

His mind raced with erratic thoughts, but right at that moment, a force tugged at his trouser leg. The pull nearly made him stumble, as if someone had grabbed him.

"Who's there!"

He looked back, but there was only pitch-black darkness, absolutely nothing at all.

No sooner had he turned back than something patted him on the back.

"Who on earth is it?"

He whipped around to look again, yet still, there was nothing.

His primary thought now was that someone was playing a prank just to scare him, so he began shouting into the surrounding void.

"Who is it? Hurry up and come out, come out right now!" His voice carried a tone of entreaty.

After a long while, the surroundings remained dead silent, with not a single soul responding.

"Cut it out, I'm begging you, just come out already." Fear completely swallowed him; he was terrified to the bone.

Right then, he felt something approaching from behind his back.

He thought to himself: *It must be that person trying to scare me again.*

The moment that notion arose, a trace of smugness crept into his heart. With that kind of low IQ, they wanted to play games with him?

So, he pretended to be unaware for a second before instantly whipping around, intending to scare the prankster right back.

The instant he turned his head, the smile on his face vanished forever, for he saw a terrifying monster staring right at him with its deformed eyes.

The monster gazed at him while slowly opening its jaws wide, seemingly poised to devour him at any moment.

"Ah!"

Tommy let out a single miserable scream, and his legs began to move on their own. Due to his trembling knees, he couldn't run fast at all.

He dared not look back; he simply had this overwhelming feeling that if he lingered even for a second, the monster would catch up to him. Therefore, he didn't dare stop for even a moment, running forward incessantly.

This desperate dash continued for a long time until he spotted Jeremy curled up on the ground.

Yet the moment he caught sight of the other person, something tripped him, and he face-planted hard onto the floor.

Right at that exact moment, having finally run out of steam, the sight of another human being sparked an inexplicable sense of safety in his heart. This security made him halt his steps and look back.

Discovering that the monster had not followed closely behind, he shifted his gaze to the object that had tripped him. There lay a corpse—a human corpse, crucially lacking a head.

He looked from the corpse to Jeremy, who looked like a creature made of blood on the ground.

At that moment, countless dots connected in his mind. For instance, that head he had picked up earlier automatically snapped into place with this headless body in his imagination.

In other words, the head that had fallen on him earlier belonged to this person; Jeremy was likely doomed as well; and the mastermind behind all of this was the monster that had been chasing him the whole time.

Thus, the monster's intention became abundantly clear: it had intentionally driven them all toward this exact spot, because it loved to slaughter people in the same exact location!
