Chapter 46: Destroying the Core of the Eerie Realm
This skill is rather frightening when you think about it. Who knows if there are any limitations? If it were allowed to develop unchecked for months or even years... the thought alone is terrifying.
He beckoned to Wang Hui, “Then, you should settle this yourself.”
Wang Hui nodded solemnly, drew a peachwood sword from his waist, and slowly approached Daoist Qingyang, who had lost all ability to resist.
“Master, this is the sword technique you taught me. You also told me this sword is meant only for slaying strange creatures.”
Wang Hui gazed at Daoist Qingyang, murmuring as he walked up to him. But once he stood beside his master, he found himself speechless. He closed his eyes and, with a fierce thrust, pierced him through with the sword.
The peachwood sword emitted a dazzling light as it lodged in Daoist Qingyang’s body. The aura of the strange creature gradually faded from him, leaving behind nothing but a corpse.
Wang Hui didn’t spare the corpse another glance. Instead, he looked to Feng Tianlin. “My master told me that to escape from here, we have to destroy the foundation of this place.”
Feng Tianlin nodded. In fact, he could have simply used spatial teleportation to take them out instantly. Yet, his curiosity about this alternate space had grown. Not only could it amplify the abilities of strange creatures here, but it also suppressed human abilities. Most crucially, it would continuously emit terrifying emotions.
He closed his eyes, letting his energy flow freely throughout the space. Before long, he found the source of it all—the so-called foundation.
It was a massive red sphere, floating in midair, saturated with an intensity of terror so thick Feng Tianlin almost felt suffocated. This terror was even more exquisite than that generated by Daoists, martial artists, or spirit tamers.
No sooner had he stood before it than the energy within him markedly increased.
“This is... too powerful,” Feng Tianlin marveled at the sphere, almost subconsciously reaching out to touch it. The instant his hand made contact, the system prompt rang in his mind.
“Host has touched the origin of strangeness. This origin can be fused with the host’s skill ‘Spatial Forbidden Zone.’ Upon fusion, it will become ‘Domain of Strangeness.’ Proceed with fusion?”
What? Fusion is possible?
What would happen if such a powerful thing were fused?
Feng Tianlin grew anxious. He hesitated for quite a while before finally nodding. “Fuse!”
In an instant, the giant red sphere burst into countless beams of crimson light, surging madly into Feng Tianlin’s body. Energy raged through him, gradually merging with the force of the Spatial Forbidden Zone, until at last it became a single stream of power.
In the process, he endured an unprecedented agony, uncontrollable as his body writhed on the ground.
“Congratulations, host. The origin of strangeness has been fused. The skill Spatial Forbidden Zone LV5 has advanced to Domain of Strangeness LV9.”
Domain of Strangeness: Centered on the caster, summons a space of size determined by level. Within this domain, all strange creatures obey the host’s commands and their power is enhanced. Humans are suppressed.
Feeling the sudden surge of strength within himself, Feng Tianlin slowly got to his feet. He hadn’t even had time to rejoice before the space trembled violently.
Before long, the space began to collapse, and Feng Tianlin and his companions were inexplicably transported to the base of a giant pine tree at Second High School.
Outside, the grounds were deserted, with only Ruan Miao sketching the pine tree on her drawing board.
Feng Tianlin had come on this mission to rescue Wang Hui. Upon arriving beneath the pine, he sensed the presence of an alternate space but didn’t know how to enter it, so he simply used spatial teleportation to bring his strange creature followers inside, leaving Ruan Miao, a mere human, outside.
When Feng Tianlin and the others emerged, Ruan Miao ignored everyone else and strode straight to Wang Hui, patting his shoulder.
“So you’re the little Daoist brother that Feng Tianlin keeps talking about? Not bad, you look pretty good.”
Wang Hui was still shaken, staring blankly at the pure, youthful woman before him, unsure what to say.
“You’ve scared him,” Feng Tianlin said to Ruan Miao, exasperated.
This outing had yielded quite a bounty—a new skill, and now Feng Tianlin was truly formidable, boasting a host of powerful abilities and a strange space as an external cheat. Now, defeating a B-class opponent was a breeze.
He wondered, though, if a spirit tamer’s strange creatures would fall under his control inside the Domain of Strangeness. If so... then nothing would stop him. From now on, whenever he saw a spirit tamer, he’d just go for it. Whether A-class or S-class, in the Domain of Strangeness, all are equal.
He glanced down at a red sphere lying nearby and walked over for a closer look.
This was likely what remained after the strange origin had been absorbed, with nothing particularly remarkable about it.
“Boss Doll, what are you looking at?” Wang Hui, unable to escape Ruan Miao’s barrage of odd questions—how do Daoists cultivate? How could he possibly tell an outsider that?—immediately changed the subject.
Feng Tianlin kicked the red sphere to him. “Just a little trinket. If you’re interested, pick it up and play with it.”
Wang Hui picked up the ball, examined it, and, in a rapping tone, declared to Ruan Miao, “Look at this ball, big and round. Look at this ball, red and shiny.”
Ruan Miao cast a disdainful look at him. “So?”
This time, she realized the importance of strength. If she had power, she wouldn’t have been left outside by Feng Tianlin. But she could never become a strange creature, nor did she know how to become a spirit tamer, so she naturally thought of Wang Hui the Daoist; perhaps he had a way. Yet Wang Hui stubbornly refused to say anything.
Wang Hui smiled mysteriously. “This red ball is from that strange space, so it must have some significance. Hold onto it—who knows, maybe one day it’ll burst forth and grant you unparalleled power.”
He spoke with such conviction as he handed the red ball to Ruan Miao.
Ruan Miao stared at the ball for a long time, but found nothing remarkable about it. She quickly realized Wang Hui was just messing with her.
She promptly threw the red ball to the ground and stomped it to pieces. “Don’t try to fool me with this junk! Hurry up and tell me how Daoists cultivate!”
Just as Wang Hui was about to dodge the question again, a sudden change occurred.
From beneath Ruan Miao’s foot, countless dark red beams burst out. As she slowly moved her foot away, the light, free from its confinement, shot upward, piercing the clouds.
The dark red light formed a massive pillar, illuminating the heavens and earth. It first ascended to the clouds, then spread outward, its range seemingly endless, as if it would encompass the entire world.
Feng Tianlin was utterly stunned. This wasn’t just a red pillar—it was terror, so intense it had become tangible, and it continued to spread. As a strange creature himself, he could distinctly feel all his attributes rising.
His underlings, including Long Mengting, could no longer restrain their instincts and crowded around the light pillar, greedily absorbing its energy.
Feng Tianlin quickly realized this was a treasure he couldn’t miss and immediately joined the ranks, absorbing the terrifying emotions alongside them.
