Chapter Fifty-Seven: The Great Sage Equal to Heaven

“The Great Sage Equal to Heaven? That monkey?” Feng Tianlin asked in confusion.
“Though you are a spirit creature and not a demon, you must never insult the Demon Emperor in such a way,” Qi Xuan replied, her tone tinged with irritation at Feng Tianlin’s words.
This nine-tailed fox didn’t seem to be pretending, nor did she have any reason to put on an act. What was going on?
Given the current struggle between humans and bizarre beings, the latter were at an absolute disadvantage. Newly awakened bizarre creatures were usually tracked down and eliminated by spirit tamers almost immediately.
In such an environment, even infamous figures like the Evil King or the Venomous Queen were forced to hide in obscurity to recover their strength. How could there be a Demon Emperor uniting the Nine Provinces? Besides, wasn’t “Nine Provinces” an ancient name for China?
Could she have boarded this train right after awakening, her mind still lingering in the moments before her long slumber?
But that couldn’t be right, either. Ancient bizarre beings, upon awakening, were supposed to be very weak, needing time to regain their strength. During that period, it would be impossible not to realize that the previous era of the bizarre had ended.
The more Feng Tianlin thought about it, the stranger it seemed. He voiced his suspicions: “How did you get on this train?”
“Train? This iron contraption is called a train?” She stomped on the floor, producing a hollow clang.
“Yes, it’s called a train,” Feng Tianlin responded, then pressed on, “So, how did you get here?”
“I was fighting a human known as a Primordial Celestial Master. I was no match for him and had to flee. Just as I was about to be caught, this train appeared. I jumped aboard to escape.”
“So, what exactly is this thing?” Feng Tianlin caught onto something in her words: a human Primordial Celestial Master? He had never heard of such a title.
But he began to suspect a possibility—the train had the power to cross time and space! It must have traveled back thousands of years to rescue Qi Xuan, before returning to the present and saving those three spirit tamers in Ling City.
This train certainly liked to rescue people, didn’t it?
To confirm his theory, Feng Tianlin asked, “Who is the current leader of humanity?”
“The emperor is Ying Shang, and the leader of the Celestial Masters is Fan Muchen,” Qi Xuan answered.
That sealed it—this nine-tailed fox had definitely come from several millennia ago.
Feng Tianlin looked around the train, his mind roiling like a stormy sea. What kind of existence was this train, that it could traverse thousands of years in just a few months? It was unbelievably powerful. This trip had certainly been worthwhile.
“So, which side won—the demons or the humans?”
“Qi Xuan, listen to me. It’s now the middle of the twenty-first century. Thousands of years have passed since your era. That so-called Demon Emperor, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, has long since vanished without a trace.”

“These days, all supernatural beings are simply called bizarre creatures. Your era is known as the Bizarre Age, and that age ended abruptly for reasons unknown.”
“The reason is that every bizarre being simply disappeared—including the Demon Emperor you spoke of.”
His words were sharp, giving no quarter to Qi Xuan’s legendary status as the nine-tailed fox.
Qi Xuan was struck dumb by his declaration, her wide eyes processing the revelation.
Seeing her so distraught, Feng Tianlin felt a pang of compassion. Who could bear to hear that their entire age had vanished as if it had never existed? He tried to comfort her.
“But you don’t need to worry. I’m here now because the bizarre are awakening once more. We, the bizarre creatures, are gradually reviving. From what I know, many beings from your era are waking up. Our time will come again soon.”
Yet Qi Xuan seemed not to hear his words, still lost in thought. After a long silence, she suddenly looked up at Feng Tianlin.
“You’re lying! Whether it’s the Demon Emperor, the Venomous Queen, or the Evil King, none of them could just vanish for no reason. You’re lying!”
In truth, she had long noticed that this train was nothing like anything from her era, but she had refused to believe it until Feng Tianlin said it aloud. She couldn’t not believe him now, but she simply couldn’t accept it.
Feng Tianlin could only shrug helplessly. “If you don’t believe me, there’s nothing more I can do.”
With that, he prepared to move on to the next carriage and investigate the train’s secrets. Suddenly, a hand seized him by the body.
“What are you doing?” He looked back to see Qi Xuan.
Her hands had transformed into claws, her face into a fox’s head, exuding an aura that could intoxicate mortals. She glared at Feng Tianlin.
“I’ll kill you! How dare you lie to me! You’ll pay for this!” Her sweet voice turned into a snarl.
Feng Tianlin was speechless. So she couldn’t accept the truth and now wanted to silence him.
But he wasn’t afraid. He simply used spatial teleportation to move ten meters away.
As the doll in her grasp vanished, Qi Xuan immediately saw Feng Tianlin reappear some distance off, her eyes narrowing to slits.
“What kind of talent is this, to escape my grasp with such meager strength?”
She hesitated for a moment, then decided to catch him first and question him later.
Just as she prepared to pounce, the doll across from her smirked disdainfully, as if mocking her.
“In my presence, bizarre creatures are nothing but servants. And you dare threaten me?”
Feng Tianlin sneered, activating the bizarre domain.

In an instant, the entire carriage was bathed in a blood-red glow. A subtle, pervasive energy stirred the bizarre beings within, filling them with an inexplicable excitement.
At that moment, Qi Xuan had already lunged for Feng Tianlin, ready to seize him.
“Don’t move.” Feng Tianlin’s voice was soft, almost gentle, but to Qi Xuan it exploded in her ears, freezing her in place. No matter how she struggled, she couldn’t move an inch.
She could not defy Feng Tianlin’s command.
Relieved to see Qi Xuan immobilized, Feng Tianlin exhaled quietly. He had been ready to use spatial teleportation to escape if this failed. Fortunately, it worked.
Qi Xuan was stunned. Her pupils flickered as if she wanted to speak, but no words came out.
“All right, I permit you to move everything above your neck, but you cannot harm me,” Feng Tianlin commanded.
As soon as the order was given, Qi Xuan regained the ability to speak. She quickly surveyed her surroundings, and spoke in a trembling voice.
“This is the Demon Domain. You’re the master of the Demon Domain!”
Feng Tianlin shook his head. “In your age, you called it the Demon Domain. Now, it’s known as the Bizarre Domain.”
“That doesn’t matter. Do you know what the Demon Domain—or rather, the Bizarre Domain—represents?”
“What?”
“In our era, the Bizarre Domain was merely a realm for harvesting human fear. But the Demon Emperor prophesied that thousands of years later, an immensely powerful demon would arise from within. That demon would lead us to annihilate all humankind.”
“And you—you’re from thousands of years in the future. Could you be the demon prophesied to be born from the Bizarre Domain?”
Feng Tianlin was dumbfounded. So that was the origin of it all. No wonder there was so much terror accumulated in that space—it had been collected over thousands of years.
As for the so-called demon born within, or bizarre being—wasn’t that the great pumpkin-headed one?
But that fellow had barely had a chance to act before Feng Tianlin had dispatched him in an instant.
