Chapter Sixty-Nine: Return to the Celestial Well City
Just as Feng Tianlin was about to leave, a figure appeared.
“Black Crimson Fiend, you serve the Venomous Queen and Evil King, don’t you?” Feng Tianlin glanced up at the figure, asking with ill intent.
He was just waiting for the other to nod, so he could erase him on the spot.
The Black Crimson Fiend hurriedly waved his hands. “The Venomous Queen sent me to deliver a message, and then I’ll leave right away.”
He was in a panic—he’d already learned that the two arrogant, bizarre creatures who came to Ling City had been killed by Feng Tianlin. If he didn’t explain his presence, he might not survive either.
“What message?”
“She wants to know if you’re willing to cooperate with her…”
The Black Crimson Fiend felt embarrassed even saying this. They’d just tried to kill him, and now they wanted to negotiate? Shameless…
Feng Tianlin burst out laughing, angered by the audacity. “What? Hahaha, are you joking?”
“Oh, I understand. I’ll be going now,” the Black Crimson Fiend said, catching Feng Tianlin’s meaning. He didn’t dare linger a second longer—who knew if this doll-faced creature would kill him just to make a statement?
“Stop. Did I say you could go?” Feng Tianlin called after him as he turned to leave.
“Big Brother Doll, what do you mean?” the Black Crimson Fiend asked meekly.
“What do I mean? Of course I agree to cooperate. Our common enemy is humanity—why quarrel among ourselves?”
Hearing Feng Tianlin’s agreement, the Black Crimson Fiend was overjoyed and nodded rapidly. “Thank you, Big Brother Doll! I’ll report back right away.”
He darted off in a flash; he couldn’t stand the oppressive atmosphere around Feng Tianlin a moment longer.
Once he was safely distant, he pulled out his phone and dialed the Venomous Queen. “Hello? The Nightmare Doll agreed to cooperate. Really! Yes, yes.”
After hanging up, he let out a long sigh of relief. “Finally, it’s over.”
But barely had he relaxed when a bone-chilling cold swept over him. In an instant, he was frozen into an ice sculpture.
With a casual slap, Feng Tianlin shattered the ice, and the Black Crimson Fiend’s body scattered as icy dust upon the ground.
He had hoped to use the Black Crimson Fiend to locate the Venomous Queen and Evil King, but hadn’t expected they’d communicate only by phone—miscalculation.
Still, it wasn’t so bad; at least they no longer considered him an enemy. Surely they wouldn’t avoid him now?
Feng Tianlin glanced up at the sky, a smile playing at his lips. “Venomous Queen, is it? I believe we’ll meet soon.”
No sooner had he spoken than a train, billowing white smoke, appeared from thin air. Feng Tianlin leaped aboard, waving to his underlings below. “Let’s go! Off to Tenjing City!”
…
They were stunned the moment they arrived in Tenjing City. Was this still a city? It was nothing but ruins.
The roads were split with ragged cracks, skyscrapers had collapsed, signs of fighting were everywhere. Occasionally, a wandering ghost floated by, but more often, bizarre creatures rushed madly in one direction.
Feng Tianlin casually stopped a D-class creature, human from the waist up and dog from the waist down. “What’s happening now?”
The half-man, half-dog glanced at Feng Tianlin, ready to curse him out, but caught sight of his followers behind and instantly sobered, realizing he was no match for them.
“Humans are attacking again—we’re going to fight them.”
Having gotten his answer, Feng Tianlin let him go. The half-man, half-dog quickly ran off in the same direction.
As he ran, he shouted back, “You’d better hurry and join the fight—for the great Nightmare Doll!”
With that, he disappeared from view.
Feng Tianlin wore a baffled expression. What in the world? Couldn’t he tell who the real Doll was?
But then he realized—these bizarre creatures probably didn’t know what the Nightmare Doll looked like; they only knew he was their leader.
Thinking this, Feng Tianlin smiled wryly. They believed in him, yet he’d never helped them. Perhaps now he should help defend their city.
With that, he waved to his subordinates. “Come on, let’s go see this battle between the bizarre creatures and the humans.”
He led his group in the direction the others had gone.
After a long walk, Borangen finally asked tentatively, “Master, don’t you think this is a slow way to travel?”
Feng Tianlin glanced back, thinking he wanted to take the train. “It’s not far enough for the Ghost Train—controlling the coordinates would be tricky.”
“No, I mean I could shift into battle form, and you could all ride on my back…”
Three minutes later.
“It’s like flying!”
On the back of a gigantic demon dragon, Feng Tianlin and his companions shouted with excitement.
That’s right—Western dragons are meant to be ridden. How could I forget?
Borangen’s flight was incredibly fast; in no time, they reached the battlefield where the bizarre creatures and humans were clashing.
This was a suburb of the city—coincidentally, the very place where Feng Tianlin had first arrived in this world.
Intense energy blasts had already ravaged the area, leaving it in ruins.
On one side, the bizarre creatures of Tenjing City kept charging forward, cannon fodder for the slaughter; on the other, a squad of humans led by several B-class fighters.
The bizarre creatures were mostly low-level, most only capable of mindless attacks. A few were C-class, but the humans were mostly D-class and above, with more than a dozen B-class among them.
Yet the sheer number of bizarre creatures was overwhelming, and the humans were starting to struggle.
Most of the humans were agents from Ling City’s Paranormal Investigation Bureau, dispatched by orders to take and occupy a residential district for the main force’s use the next day. They had no choice but to fight with everything they had.
Watching the bizarre creatures throw themselves to their deaths, Feng Tianlin shook his head helplessly and waved his hand. “Come out, Ghost Train!”
A train materialized in the middle of the battlefield, drawing the attention of both humans and bizarre creatures—none understood what was happening.
But its aura made it clear: this was on the side of the bizarre creatures.
“That train’s not right! A few of you come with me!” Su Chen shouted, leading the charge.
But just then, the train doors opened, and countless figures poured out—each one a bizarre creature, grotesque and powerful. Their arrival sent a chill through the human ranks.
“Retreat!” Su Chen yelled in panic.
They had no choice—there were several A-class among these newcomers. Staying meant certain death.
Most had already turned to flee before Su Chen even gave the order. Anyone who stayed now was either a fool or insane.
“Ah! What is this?” The one running in front seemed to crash into something, fell hard, and stared in bewilderment at the empty air ahead.
Several others also collided with the unseen barrier, clutching their foreheads in confusion.
“There’s a wall in front!” someone shouted in shock.
But the bizarre creatures were already closing in behind them. With no other option, the humans attacked the invisible wall together.
Five minutes later, there was no trace of humans left—not even corpses—only low-level bizarre creatures licking blood from the ground.
The wall, of course, was conjured by Feng Tianlin’s domain—a power that not only created a spectral territory but could also manifest spatial barriers.
By now, Feng Tianlin and his group had come down to the ground. Seeing the humans devoured by a swarm of bizarre creatures, even Feng Tianlin couldn’t help but shake his head.
“Too cruel.”
Just then, the half-man, half-dog from before found him. “I knew you’d come! You summoned that train, didn’t you?”
Feng Tianlin was the most powerful bizarre entity he’d ever met—something this extraordinary could only have been his doing.
Feng Tianlin was about to nod and reveal his identity, but the half-man, half-dog continued.
“The Nightmare Doll is coming—you’d better sit tight and be ready!”
Feng Tianlin: “???”
