Chapter Ninety-Eight: Daxia’s Reward to You All
Seeing that everyone was prepared, Lin Fan picked up the walkie-talkie and said, "The moment to fight for Great Xia has arrived."
"Fight for Great Xia!" everyone replied in unison.
Their eyes were burning with a fire—a fire named Great Xia.
The world rarely grants you a chance to give your all, but now, that chance had arrived.
Lin Fan pressed the detonator.
"BOOM!"
A sky-piercing column of fire erupted from the glacier. The flames tore through the frigid winds, and a terrifying shockwave shredded the swirling snow. Countless stones grazed the scalps of those lying in the pits, and they could even feel a scorching heat wave wash over them amidst the frozen landscape.
The towering cliff face shook, and even the entire Tianshan Mountain trembled at that moment. It was the first time in eons that the eternal Tianshan had roared with such a sound. This was a declaration of war from Great Xia, and the death knell for the Yetis.
"BOOM!"
In an instant, a massive hole appeared in the cliff face, revealing a pitch-black, silent void. But the very next moment, pairs of scarlet eyes flickered open in the darkness.
Heavy, labored breathing reached their ears, followed by a dull, rhythmic thudding, as if massive beasts were awakening within.
"Hold your fire," Lin Fan said softly. "Let them get closer."
Everyone watched the cave entrance in silence, pulling back their bolts, ready to fire at any moment. From the blasted cave, muffled and eerie roars emerged.
"What is happening?"
"Who has awakened us from our slumber... Hmm, this world seems to have changed. This new atmosphere... it seems perfect for our survival."
"It is time for us to wake. This world has once again become our hunting ground."
"So hungry... so hungry."
"I want to eat something..."
"Let's go. Let's hunt. This world has become suitable for us again."
"Let us go catch those weak, plump four-legged sheep. I still remember that sweet taste. I still remember that town..."
"Hehehe, I truly want to see the look of terror on their faces."
"Move out, Yeti tribe! Follow me to hunt! It is time to let those weak humans know that the world has changed. The former masters of this land have returned!"
"Let them know that they are nothing but livestock for us to farm!"
Greedy roars echoed as massive black shadows, each four or five meters tall, licked their lips and moved toward the cave entrance in the dark.
Just then, a Yeti that had reached the entrance suddenly froze.
It stared at the small, weak humans holding strange objects, momentarily confused as to why they were there. But then, its gaze turned greedy and excited, as if staring at a feast.
"Humans... food!"
"To see you the moment we wake—how wonderful!" Its scarlet eyes burned with insatiable greed and a lust for slaughter. These savage beasts, survivors of the Ice Age, licked their thick lips and bared their fangs, wearing a grotesque, eerie grin.
Only then did the soldiers see the Yetis clearly. They were covered in thick, white fur that blended perfectly with the snowy mountains. Their burly, solid frames stood four or five meters tall, with terrifying muscles visible even beneath the fur. Their sharp claws were three inches long and incredibly pointed; even the nails on their palm-like feet could easily crush stone. Their hands were larger than a human head.
Before such creatures, humans were like toys—or rather, like food.
Most terrifying were their faces. They resembled humans but were not human at all. Their rough, thick skin was wrinkled, their scarlet eyes held an inherent brutality and desire for blood, and protruding fangs jutted from massive mouths capable of crushing anything. The stench of blood radiating from them was pungent even in the biting wind—it was the dried, putrid smell of countless slaughtered humans.
During the Ice Age, the ancestors of humanity had crossed oceans and braved the cold, choosing a path toward civilization, wisdom, and benevolence when faced with a thriving, reborn land. But another branch had not chosen the path of civilization; they had adapted to the ice and snow, lurking in the frost and embracing their beastly nature.
Seeing the Yetis, everyone was taken aback for a moment.
From the dark cave, the Yetis jeered greedily: "Food... you actually delivered yourselves to our doorstep..."
They had gone mad. They could smell the aroma of the food—the scent of sweet, warm flesh and blood. It felt like a gift from the heavens; just as they awoke from their slumber, hungry and weak, food had arrived on their own accord.
"ROAR!!!"
"FOOD!"
They let out harrowing shrieks, rushed out of the cave, and lunged at the group.
Lin Fan stood up expressionlessly, looking at the savage, lunging beasts amidst the swirling snow, and said coldly, "Great Xia says hello!"
The next moment, just as the Yetis leaped out of the cave, intending to tear their "delivered" food to shreds, Lin Fan said, "Special combat teams, open fire!"
Before his voice had even faded:
"RAT-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT..."
Deafening gunfire roared. Dozens of light and heavy machine guns snarled like angry beasts. The entire mountain range trembled.
The pitch-black muzzles spewed blinding flames. Scorching bullets spun through the air, weaving a visible, dazzling net of fire amidst the ice and snow.
The bullets of Great Xia!
The continuous gunfire echoed across the snowy mountains, a roar declaring exactly who was the master of this land.
"Awoo—"
The roar of the Yetis, eager for food, instantly turned into wails of agony.
The machine guns thundered. The massive Yetis, who had been charging with claws outstretched, fell one by one. The palm-sized bullets, sweeping in from all angles, tore through their tough skin like paper. White fur bloomed with blood as gaping, crimson holes appeared in the bodies of these man-eating beasts.
Firearms are, and will always be, the true military might of humanity. And weapons are the only attitude Great Xia has toward such evil life forms.
Countless lines of fire converged. The bullets gathered into a torrent, and any Yeti that touched it was shredded by the terrifying deluge of steel.
"No, impossible... they were just food..."
"How could these weak morsels..."
The Yetis, who had been roaring fiercely, wailed as they tried to retreat, but there was no chance. The terrifying rounds punched through, shredding their bodies and only stopping after piercing through seven or eight Yetis at once. Even those who had not yet left the cave and were trying to hide were shredded alive by the relentless barrage.
"You... you pieces of food... how dare you..." A Yeti, its chest blown away, stared with wide, unresisting eyes before slowly collapsing, its scarlet gaze filled with nothing but resentment.
"When the food gets angry, it's quite terrifying, isn't it?" Lin Fan watched the savage Yetis fall one by one and said expressionlessly, "Those who eat men shall be eaten by men. This is Great Xia's reward for you."
