Chapter Ninety-Nine: Does Great Xia Really Allow You a Future?
Dozens of machine guns roared and swept fire as the snow beasts scattered, fleeing deeper into the cave.
At that moment—
A deep, furious roar echoed from the depths of the cavern, so powerful it drowned out the machine guns’ thunderous blasts, making the very ground beneath the Tianshan Mountains tremble!
It was as if an immense, raging beast was bellowing in fury.
Suddenly, the snow beasts retreating into the cave seemed to sense something and abruptly halted.
One of the snow beasts howled wildly.
“The boss is right, charge out!”
“These food creatures want to trap us inside this cave. We cannot run deeper; we must break through!”
“Damn these food creatures! They’re just food, after all!”
“Even if they’re stronger, they’re still just food!”
“Let these food creatures know who truly rules this land!”
“Roar!”
In an instant, these savage snow beasts bellowed defiantly, braving the hail of bullets from light and heavy machine guns as they charged out of the cave!
“They’re counterattacking,” Lin Fan said expressionlessly into his radio. “All units, maintain overlapping fire, alternate reloads—no gaps in firepower.”
“Teams Two and Three, fire at will!”
“Don’t let a single one escape. If even one gets away, an entire village’s people will be preyed upon!”
“Behind us are the people of Great Xia!”
“No retreat—hold your ground and eliminate them all!”
As his words fell, dozens of soldiers sprang up from makeshift fortifications, hoisting massive RPGs and grenade launchers, pulling triggers on the charging snow beasts.
Boom!
Boom!
Missiles streaked forth, trailing searing flames toward the snow creatures.
The moment the rockets struck—
BOOM!
Terrifying explosions swept across the entrance, shredding several snow beasts into pieces. The metal fragments, propelled by the explosive force, tore through the frenzied beasts with ease.
Blazing fireballs erupted at the cave mouth, engulfing the charging beasts. Their white fur smoked and scorched in the flames.
Yet still, the snow beasts charged relentlessly!
Some even wielded colossal rocks weighing tons like shields, enduring torrents of bullets as they surged forward.
As they burst from the cave’s mouth—
Boom!
Explosions lit the ground ablaze.
The previously laid minefield took effect; snow beasts carrying rocks and enduring bullets were blown apart.
Yet these beasts fought on like possessed demons, eyes bloodshot as more charged, determined to smash through the minefield.
Bodies of hundreds of snow beasts piled up within a hundred meters of the cave entrance, blood staining the ice and snow, their white fur tinged with the scent of char.
Still, more charged forward.
Like a white tide surging from the cave, their ferocity surprised even Lin Fan.
“You’re just food!” he bellowed.
“Even powerful food is still food!”
“We are the true masters of this land!”
The snow beasts pressed forward relentlessly, but facing these roaring monsters, facing these unprecedentedly fierce creatures, not a single soldier beside Lin Fan stepped back.
“Bring it on, you bastards!” one soldier, wielding a machine gun, shouted, eyes wide and veins bulging as he swept fire without retreat. “You beasts dare claim this land?”
“You even dare treat the people of Great Xia like prey!”
“Damn you all! If I take one step back, I lose!”
“Has your blood ever soaked this land? Today, I’ll show you who truly rules!”
“For Great Xia, brothers—kill!”
“Hold the line—no retreat!”
Machine guns roared.
Monsters fell.
Lin Fan knew this battle transcended good and evil.
It was a clash of species, a struggle between civilization and savagery.
In the food chain, these man-eating beasts indeed dominated humans by nature.
But—
Food has its own strength!
Even food fights back with courage!
The people of Great Xia will never kneel, never become swine!
Just like the gods, just like these terrifying man-eating beasts, Great Xia greets them only with bullets!
“Don’t retreat!” Situ Lan shouted, sweeping with her machine gun as the snow beasts pressed closer. “Even if they tear us apart, we don’t retreat!”
“Behind us are the people of Great Xia!”
“Even if we run out of bullets, hold the line with knives!”
“If you’re scared, think of your parents being torn to shreds by these beasts, think of your wives and children swallowed whole—is that what you want?”
No retreat!
Not one step back!
Behind them are the people of Great Xia. As soldiers, even facing these unprecedentedly powerful beasts, they will never give ground!
Sometimes in life, you have many chances to retreat.
But sometimes, you cannot.
All the soldiers faced the tidal wave of charging snow beasts without flinching, standing like monuments, their machine guns roaring.
Finally,
The white tide ceased its surge.
Even the remaining snow beasts seemed to understand that these “food” would never let them escape—if it meant death.
“Damn it, finally pushed them back.”
“Thought they’d really break through.”
“Now you know who rules this land!”
The soldiers gasped and shouted, seizing the moment to reload and swap out overheated barrels.
Their hands trembled slightly; even their legs felt weak.
No one could imagine the terror of facing monstrous hordes surging relentlessly closer.
Soldiers are human too—they feel fear.
But from start to finish, they did not retreat.
This was a clash of wills between two species!
Had even one soldier stepped back, the snow beasts would have risked everything to break through the fire zone.
Within four hundred meters of the cave mouth, the ground was drenched in blood, snow beasts’ thick, white-furred limbs piled high.
Stepping over the carnage, Lin Fan moved toward the cave entrance.
Gazing into the pitch-black maw, he heard countless tense, suppressed breaths—at least a hundred snow beasts still survived inside.
“Food that fights back is pretty scary, huh?” Lin Fan murmured.
His voice echoed through the cavern.
A brief silence.
Then, from deep within the cave, a chilling, low laugh rumbled:
“Weak food, thinking you wield some power, daring to challenge the hunter.”
“Weak humans, without claws or sharp teeth.”
“If you’re so capable, keep guarding this cave mouth. We fear no cold, but how long can fragile you hold out? The humans you protect will one day be our food.”
Lin Fan paused, frowning.
“Why do you think Great Xia will allow soulless creatures like you to have a future?”
